ludurigan
IZZY STRADLIN is on the song "GRANDVIEW" from the brand new 2017 JOHN MELLENCAMP album "Sad Clowns & Hillbillies". Sad Clowns is a record about our struggles within ourselves and with the world around us. Even the album's covers seem carefully chosen to fit that feel. "Grandview," written by Mellencamp cohort Bobby Clark, is the album's only real rocker and features ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin and former Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers drummer Stan Lynch. It's sung from the perspective a working-class middle-aged man whose biggest dream is outfitting himself with a trailer and getting out of town. the album is being released this Friday, April 28th on Republic Records cover art tour poster (or something) sources = http://www.npr.org/2017/04/24/524382970/first-listen-john-mellencamp-sad-clowns-hillbillies = http://www.mellencamp.com/ = http://ultimateclassicrock.com/john-mellencamp-sad-clowns-hillbillies-track-list/ === to the best of my knowledge, this is the second time izzy guests on a john mellencamp album first time was on this song, in the 90s according to this 1998 issue of Billboard, drummer Stan Lynch also did a guest appearance on that album https://books.google.com.br/books?id=CwoEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA121&lpg=PA121&dq="john+mellencamp"+"izzy+stradlin"&source=bl&ots=ZiaWEc_14R&sig=4GL4w1tzOqkJQEDaZGZQ51zX9sc&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjXzYmCsL_TAhXCqZAKHbjCALkQ6AEIogEwGQ#v=onepage&q="john mellencamp" "izzy stradlin"&f=false according to http://forum.mellencamp.com the song miss missy was recorded in 1991 (!) Miss Missy -- This is a rescued artifact. In 1991, Mellencamp convened a recording session with his bass player, Toby Myers, and two guests -- drummer Stan Lynch (then a member of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers) and guitarist Izzy Stradlin (then a recent ex-member of Guns 'N' Roses). "There were three or four sessions," Mellencamp says. "I thought nothing had come of it." During the making of John Mellencamp, however, Mahern came across the long-shelved tape and asked Mellencamp about "Miss Missy." "I had forgotten I had even written or recorded that song," Mellencamp says. i had no idea that these sessions ever happened and let me tell you, id LOVE to listen to these 3 or 4 sessions! can you imagine izzy jamming with these guys? one more piece of the Holy Grail of GNR! source = http://forum.mellencamp.com/?topic=751.0 === yeah, definetely, listening to these two tracks, I really would love to see stan lynch doing a full album with izzy! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stan_Lynch Edited May 6, 2017 by ludurigan

ludurigan
"Martina McBride appears as his duet partner on first single "Grandview," a rocking paean to trailer parks -- -- though guest guitarist Izzy Stradlin almost steals the show with a greasy blues-rock shuffle and break." from ALLMUSIC review = http://www.allmusic.com/album/sad-clowns-amp-hillbillies-mw0003030540?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2017-04-

dontdamnmeuyi2015
it's nice to see Izzy out and about again. lol It would be nice if Izzy decided to re-join GNR for a bit. Maybe write some more songs with the guys? Oh well, you never know what Izzy will be doing next?

ludurigan
"What’s more, the self-professed curmudgeon even gifts fans a cracking throwback moment in Grandview. Written with his cousin Bobby Clark in the early ‘90s, its smouldering rock ‘n’ roll groove is driven by Izzy Stradlin’s gritty guitar, former Heartbreakers drummer Stan Lynch’s swinging beats and a sassy vocal contribution from Martina McBride. If hearing this doesn’t make you feel alive, you’re probably not."
