Silverburst80
So who's come across any celebs whilst going about your day?, i lived in Brighton in the UK for 2 years in the mid naughties and came across quite a few. Most would only be known by Brits and Aussies though. Jordan(page 3 model)- Stood next to her in a bakery. Nick Cave- Ran past me on the street, he had a tambourine in his hand. Shane Warne (cricket player)- Was with his wife and kids. Think this was after he was filmed chasing women around a hotel room with an inflatable penis so she's a very forgiving woman. Chris Eubank (boxer)- Saw him loads of times, used to roll into town in a Hummer with music blasting. Always dressed in a dapper suit. My wife takes the cake though, she worked in a coffee shop at Brighton station when we first got there and she served a coffee to none other than Paul MacCartney. Funny thing she says she didn't even know until one of the other girls at the shop told her who she'd just served haha. Side note one of her friends was going out with his son for awhile, he was a real weird cat. Edited June 24, 2017 by Silverburst80

Best one for me wasn't while going about my everday life exactly but me and my Dad were down London to see The Stones back in '99, we went into a small, sort of backstreet McDonalds and we sit down at a table, only us in there and in walks Dave Gilmour with a couple of young kids. I noticed straight away and was mouthing to my Dad "Dave Gilmour" and nodding my head towards him. My Dad looks over and is like "yeah, it is". So he orders their food and sits down a couple of tables over and we're just sat there silent, munching away, neither of us dared go over and bother him. Was the weirdest Big Mac and fries I've ever had.

Yeah i'm not one to bother a celebrity when i see one either, though i did forget to mention i ran into Nick Oliveri when i was back in Oz before a gig (when he was touring Kyuss Lives), had a quick chat then but i was pissed up big time and i think so was he.... cool guy.
Mendez
Working at a fast food joint, I took Dax Shepards order. He ordered his food without wearing any disguise. After I recognized him, he picked up his food his food wesring sunglasses indoors. Maybe he got spooked someone recognized him? Seemed polite nonetheless
downzy
I made a list a few years ago as there's been so many that I figured it would be fun to keep track. Axl Rose Sebastian Bach Angus Young Tommy Stinson Gilby Clark Dave Navarro Frank Ferrer Val Kilmer Rihanna Samuel L. Jackson Paris Hilton Stephen Colbert Matthew Morrison Kunal Nayyar (Indian guy from Big Bang Theory) Rafael Nadal The Countess of Wessex (married to Prince Edward) Paul Schaffer Kevin O'Leary Enrique Iglesias Adrian Grenier John Hamm Sam Rockwell Michael Sheen Carrey Mulligan Josh Brolin Hillary Swank Rob Lowe James Franco Juliette Lewis Thandy Newton David Cross Minnie Driver Justin Long Vincent Cassel Danny Boyle David Suzuki Kristina Anapau Debbie Travis All the guys from the band Glass Tiger Leslie Nielsen Gordie Howe Michael Wekerle (from Dragon's Den Canada) Eric Lindross Doug Gilmore (former Toronto Maple Leaf) Gary Roberts (former Toronto Maple Leaf) Johnny Bower (former Toronto Maple Leaf) George Armstron (former Toronto Maple Leaf)

I'm not really into celebrities and such these days but thousands of cricketers (and ex-cricketers doing punditry) have walked very close to me. Unlike footballers they are not closed-off by security of anything; if you desire, you can just catch them by sitting near the pavilion steps when they go out to field for an autograph or a conversation. I had Warne and Botham right in front of me one time doing the Sky thing; lock up your daughters! I could have went to a members' forum with Botham in April but couldn't be arsed to go. I think I just saw Michael Portillo on the train the other day Pavel Srníček, former Newcastle keeper. Keegan and Lee Clark also once visited my school. That long-jump ''hop-skip-jump'' guy, Jonathan Edwards. He also visited my school. I got my photo taken with him. Hetfield and Newsted PS The only time I got starstruck was when Sangakarra walked by me. He had just been dismissed for a duck or something or other so I was not going to bother the chap for an autograph. spunko12345
I met Jimmy "The Whirlwind" White and got his autograph after watching him play a match at Newport Leisure Center in around 1995. He had a pint of Guinness and was smoking a fag. I saw Nicky Wire walk over a bridge the other day, again in Newport. RussTCB
I've had an oddly large amount of run-ins with celebrities. There's certain ones where the meeting was arranged (a meet & greet thing) like Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, Ozzy or Roger Waters. A lot of others were totally by chance, out in the wild type of stuff. 100% honest to God truth, I actually ended up in Eminem's house once, but that's a whole story on it's own lol. It's always strange and takes me back a little bit no matter who it is. For example, I had my back to a stranger once who thought I worked at a store and was asking me questions about some headphones. I was being nice and answering him, then turned around to let him know I don't know much about the headphones and it turned out I'd been talking to Weird Al the whole time. I said "Oh wow! I was turning around to apologize and say I don't work here but now I have to say 'holy shit, you're Weird Al!". He was really cool and apologized for bothering ME which was funny. Anyways.... I lot of those types of things have happened to me and they're always very cool when they do. My favorite one of all time is probably Robbie Williams. Myself and 3 friends were standing in the Hard Rock Casino in Vegas about 10 years ago when I saw a person I thought I recognized checking into the VIP area. I couldn't quite place him but I was convinced I knew him. I asked my friends and they had no idea, said it didn't look like anyone on they knew. So I just went up to him and said "Dude. I know I know you from somewhere". He slid his sunglasses down a little, laughed and said "Oh, is that right mate?" and I instantly felt like an idiot. I said "Of course I do, shit, you're Robbie Williams" and he laughed really hard. I said "I honestly wasn't trying to bother you. I just really thought you were someone I knew. Like.... personally I mean". We had a laugh about it, going back and forth for a little bit. I eventually let him go and apologized again but he was really cool about it. The kicker on the whole story above was that when I got walked back over to my friends, I said "Holy shit. It turns out I DID know that guy. Did you guys figure it out?". My friends reply was "HOLY SHIT. WAS THAT JOHNNY KNOXVILLE!?"
Gracii Guns
Phil Jupitus, Michael Portillo, John McCrirrick, Tracy Emin, Matt Berry. Several mountain bikers from the old job. Those are the celebrities I've met randomly, not at book signings or gigs where it's all happening by design. Probably have walked past more without realising, not really into celebrities. But they don't tend to end up in my neck of the woods either. I did have dinner with Dave 'Bucket' Colwell, guitarist of Bad Company once. He was hilarious. It was a chance meeting, my friend and I had a weekend in London together, and we were quite young, so she said we could see her dad and he'd take us out to dinner. Had no idea until the day before that he was in BC.

downzy
12 hours ago, Oldest Goat said: Can you tell about your interactions with Axl @downzy??? I'm intrigued. Also, Val Kilmer, Samuel L. Jackson and John Hamm if you can be bothered. The first time I met Axl was briefly described here. I met him again briefly last year in Philly after the AC/DC show. Val Kilmer - was walking up to a bar during the Toronto Film Festival and Val Kilmer was stumbling my way. I kind of stopped for a second because he was kind of stumbling and it felt like he might have walked right into me. He kind of gained his senses for a second, looked at me, and then stepped aside so we could both pass. It wasn't until he looked up that I realized who he was. Samuel L. Jackson - Many of the names I listed were from my serving/bartending days at a very hot downtown Toronto hotel bar. The night I met Samuel L was a weekday and I was helping to close the bar as it was going to be shot in a scene for a movie Jackson was staring in (can't remember the title). I was the last of the staff to finish up and Samuel L walked up to me as I was standing behind the bar and asked if I was going to be his bartender. I told him yes if he wants an actual drink, but no if he wanted me to act. He kind of chuckled and did his "okay, cool, cool..." thing. Then he said something like, "I was hoping to run some lines." I can't remember what I said in response but something along the lines of not wanting to hurt his performance and would be better off giving him a drink. He shook my hand, wished me well, and went to find his crew. John Hamm - the restaurant at the hotel had a private room that would be flush with celebrities during the film festival. One night they were so busy they pulled me off the lobby bar and had me help out for a private function. I remember rumours were circulating that some big star was going to be there but no one knew who it was. There were a lot of people sitting down at the table and I didn't initially recognize anyone. I was asked to remove all of the large wine glasses from the middle of the table since most were drinking white. The problem was that with the table so full it was difficult reaching the glasses. I had about five glasses on a tray when a women sitting in front of me suddenly pushed back on her chair, knocking into me causing the glasses to crash. The whole room stopped and went silent. I moved quickly to pick the broken glass and the man sitting next to the women got up and helped me. I looked up and realize it was John Hamm. He was in town to help promote the movie The Town and I guess assist and inept waiter (it was never my thing). I thanked him for his help and he returned to his seat. Nice guy.
Jabberwocky
This encounter happened moreso through marriage than anything else. My wife's (now ex-wife) mother is related to Donna Summer. They are 2nd cousins or some shit. I went to New York to meet her one time back in 2000. Donna was very sweet and cordial. Plus she was an Amazon

They are in the same scenario as the crew at the beginning of Galaxy Quest where Alan Rickman is grumpy as hell trotting around the convention circuit signing things for nerds. Most of them are also in that ''and I wanted to be a serious actor'' frame of mind, whereas they are just known as 'Riker', ''La Forge'' etc. Only really Picar - sorry, Patrick Stewart - has managed to establish a successful outside acting career, although he was already a Shakespearean thespian before he landed the role so he never had anything to prove. It is the same reason why you cannot keep a Dr Who or a Bond for very long as they all want to be ''actors'' so they bugger off early (Roger excepted).
BlueJean Baby
I have had a few celebrity encounters, John Schneider, Jim Dandy from Black Oak Arkansas, Ted Dibiase (wrestler), Deborah Norville (news lady), Richard Gere, Sidney Poitier, Bruce Willis (was a total asshole to kids wanting his autograph), Tree Rollins and Charlie Criss (basketball players), several Atlanta Falcons players and Atlanta Braves players, former Oakland Raider Lester Hayes, was backstage when ex boyfriend's band played a festival that included Garbage and the Goo Goo Dolls but only saw them, did not talk to them. ? Also watched from my office window as the members of Bush and No Doubt left their hotel behind where I worked and got on their tour buses, went out there during my lunch time, but they didn't come out...that was during the tour when Gwen and Gavin first started hooking up. ? I also am a third cousin of actress Morgan Fairchild, never met her but my mom and mom's aunts met her parents years ago at a family reunion. ? Fansince88
I got to meet many celebrities during the ten years I lived in NYC: Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Ethan Hawk (lived in my apartment building and got to chat with him many times in the laundry room), Ed Koch, Sigourney Weaver, Ivana Trump, Oliver Stone, Joan Rivers, Rick Okasik and his wife Paulina. Harry Connick Jr often came into the jazz bar I waitressed at during college and he was incredibly nice. Kurt Loder and Martin Scorsese both worked on projects for the company I worked for. Kurt Loder was a total asshole, but Scorsese was one of the nicest guys I ever met. He knew everyone's name -- from the receptionist to the CEO, talked to everyone about their holidays etc. and sent hand written thank you notes to everyone when the project was over. BlueJean Baby
I also talked to Burt Reynolds on the phone...they were filming Cannonball Run in town and had bought a lot of damaged furniture from my family's company and he accidentally paid us twice, I called him and let him know and he talked to me for a little while ? The furniture was used in the scene at the hotel where the car went thru the wall and into the room. Also met David Hasselhof's parents while working there, I did the financing for their furniture when they moved to Atlanta, at the time he was only on soaps, but they bragged about who their son was ?
