A quote from the stream with Trunk and his mate, think it was Keith "That's the best I've ever heard him sing"..... I mean, really??

LOL

It's like that comment Duff made when the played in Bolivia about how Axl was sounding better than ever. Then you watch any Axl/DC concert and realize how full of shit those people are just to make Axl happy.

Impossible. This is like the main fan myth right now. I understand when someone says the experience is different. That you don't pay attention to the vocals because of the energy, because of it being buried in the mix or by the crowd singing along. That is reasonable and understandable, something I can not disagree with.

But if we're talking about his vocals, no, it won't sound different from YouTube, it won't magically be powerful or raspy or good.

To some people, that doesn't affect their experience. I'm sure I would have fun at a GNR concert too but Axl's weak, thin, helium voice is too bad for me to ignore and would certainly bother me a bit. Wouldn't stop me from having fun, of course.

A NITL bluray is not something I'd play for my friends.

Sucks we got that Apollo show for soundboard. I'd pay for the Houston one.

This!   I'm working my way through Apollo show now and the lack of rasp is clear.  Civil War is awful and he was slaying that song last summer.

I've been advocating thus since day one.

He sounds like shit, I turned the Apollo show off around Coma. Full on 2002-Mickey voice.

Well no, not full on Mickey.  But definitely not good.

Voice sounds a bit worn and tired. Some songs are good, those in his ballpark, Jungle, Patience, Civil War etc. Some are ok, Easy. He totally cops out on Brownstone. Some are bad, YCBM, PC, NR. My Michelle is unlistenable right now.

It's the consistent high notes in those songs. How many f'ing shows has the dude performed?

Do anyone here research or understand the bilogical restraints of one's voice?

The amount of "i think he just doesn't care anymore" conjecture is astounding

If you all care so much why don't you seek out an established, professional vocal coach and ask them

He's either totally fucked his voice or he just isn't bothered about trying anymore. I think  it's the latter.

What do you mean totally fucked? Listening to last nights show today he sounds pretty decent on a lot of it

Axl has a very demanding vocal delivery and gives a demanding physical performance under the pressure of performing in front of countless amounts of people.  Sometimes things won't be perfect

He uses rasp on certain lines of certain songs, and I'm not counting his lower voice obviously, so you're right, it's more like 90% mickey.

The Euro leg and the Sirius broadcast has kinda knocked the wind outta my sails as far as the shows I'm seeing in September... I'm still stoked to hear Slash and Duff rip through the songs but, Axl gonna Axl. :shrugs:

I think he could still bring the 2016 voice, but chooses not to for whatever reason (probably longevity). He sounds great on songs like Easy, DTJ, CD, usually Brownstone, and it seems like he can transition to a raspy voice easier that way too, but that clean falsetto voice is just not good.

He sounds ok when he goes all out but the majority of the show he doesn't sound good anymore.. Songs Like Jungle, ISO, Out Ta Get Me, Don't Cry and Brownstone are usually really good... Axl is still a really good front man but if Slash wasn't in the band I wouldn't be following him..

It will get to the point where Slash will not be enough to keep interest.  The frontman is very important to a band. Especially GNR.  Without Axl's vocals, it is not GNR

A responsible singer (of whom is getting paid an insane amount of money to be one) takes care of their vocal chords/body

A responsible singer performs necessary practices to keep their voice in shape

A responsible singer consults specialists to keep their voice in best form

Axl is not a responsible singer.

I think he's just exhausted vocally after the grueling Euro leg. Dude needs to rest.

Also, the very real fact is that his voice is slowly but surely losing its power. He barely has any at the Apollo show.

Perhaps it's time to sing more of the lower tone/register songs like ISE, Brownstone, Don't Cry, etc and either retire certain songs like YCBM or sing them in a different tone (lower register). It will still kick ass and he'll sound good. win/win situation.

I doubt he will perform at that level with AC/Dc again. I truly believe he is losing his voice. GNR songs where he uses the AC/DC voice, such as the ending of NR are cracking all over the place. His voice is getting shot.

Seems fucking suicidal to take that on again given how he sounds right now. Cutting an album with ac/dc is one thing, touring those songs is something else entirely.

WTF happened to my michelle

just a year a part and the whole song has gone to the hell of Mickey

I hope whatever has happened it is temporary, I don't believe he isn't trying which is more worrying than if I thought he couldn't care less

I don't know why they have to play for three and a half hours when Axl's throat is in this state. Two hours would be enough imo and drop Yesterday's and My Michelle, they sound horrible and they sounded horrible in person when I saw him, not just on scopes and YouTube.

Axl is not a responsible singer.

Basically this, if you keep your voice in shape then shit like this doesn't happen.
