Little bio of each in my slanted sunglassed view -

Eric Clapton - Pop Puppy and most famous out of the three...got his jumpstart to his career with them in the early 60s but quit to pursue bluesy influences and eventually joined cream as his most famous exposition into the band scene then moved his way through derek and the dominoes and blind faith and then settled as a solo artist up until this day playing with almost everyone including bbking. his style is one of the cleanest in the buissness and absolutely bluesy...not exactly the most original songwriter (actually...not really original at all) and his rhythm guitar when needed is pretty weak

Jeff Beck - the least famous of the three but most original and experimental. Joining the Yardbirds for a duration of 18 months, he brought the band into psychedelia mode for THE musical and cultural revolution that overtook the nation in 1966/1967. He has since pursued an ongoing solo career teaming up with the likes of Rod Stewart and others in various forms to experiment with new directions for the guitar and sounds. His syle is experimental and a product of psydo-prog rock that shook the music in the late 60s. He tends to perfer speed over feeling but has his roots, just as clapton, are in blues. Unlike clapton, he does not settle JUST for blues. Another quality is that he's extremely egocentric and hard to work with.

Jimmy Page - THE riff king, joined the yardbirds beside beck in the late 60s as a bassist and was later put on duel lead with beck but that didn't last very long due to beck's egomeglomanic nature. He then cut a couple albums with the yardbirds before they disbanded and he formed the "New Yardbirds" which would shape into led zeppelin in years to come. After 1980 when john bonham died page continued his solo career (which was up and going during the lz years) and cut a couple albums teaming up with old friends such as robert plant or cloverdale at times. His style is riff based/blues rock n' roll and mixes both speed with flowing, moving solos that fill the soul to the brink. Unlike clapton and beck...he is not as clean and can become sloppy at times in live performances, especially when the years crept up.

So there you go...the three superstar guitarists for the yardbirds

in my personal opinion...i'm going with page

but that's just me.

Page no doubt.

I think he is the most well known not Clapton.

Everyone i know either thinks Clapton is black or dead.

as a solo artist clapton is by far the best know...he's almost a household name...

i mean...cocaine and layla are two pretty popular songs...you don't hear any "shake my tree" by page/clavordale being on the pop circuits

Voted Page, Since I've Been Loving you is mind fuckin blowin...the guitar in that song is amazing, and The Rain Song is also very powerfull

i agree...the i can't quit you babe on the coda session and the live bootlegs always have something amazing in it whether it's how many more times or sth...all are amazing!

Jeff Beck. I appreciate what the others have done, but he's the one who's kept up with the times.

Plus Live with the Jan Hammer Group's a classic.

"And it's Hi-Ho Silver Lining..."

i got that yesterday along with a couple other beck live albums...

rock2

it rocks

shit :o The yardbirds had an awesome lineup of guitarists

I prefer page to clapton. I don't know anything about jeff beck( except that he is suppose to be a great guitarist) so I can't really compare him to the other two
