It's telling that the best releases of the year have been Strapping Young Lad's Alien, Nile's Annihilation Of The Wicked and Dream Theater's Octavarium. I love how, whilst most mainstream music languishes in the realm of monotonous mediocrity, metal, a genre many had pegged as dead, is flourishing.
