  2. Guns N' Roses featured on Breaking The Band

Yeah, I got to watch it, and this pretty much summarizes it. I think Alan Niven's comment about Axl pissing away his prime was actually one of the least harsh ones in the documentary - and not really inaccurate. Yes, there have been different versions about the circumstances under which it happened, and the documentary presented one of them. I watched some of the other episodes and I thought the GnR episode was the poorest one. The other ones had more people interviewed. There was surely a lot of stuff edited out from the interviews, especially from the Marc Canter one. Marc didn't get much air time. ------------ I also didn't find the dramatizations particularly entertaining - maybe it's because some of them were spoiled for me . The reenactment of the hell tour was total cringe. I noticed that the narration avoided mentioning Doug Goldstein's name - they referred to him twice as the "tour manager" (who then became manager). And, of course, they totally forgot Dizzy ----------- Imo the best GnR documentary, in comparison, was the 2016 BBC one. At least it had some unseen before footage from Marc Canter's archive and a couple of stories that we hadn't heard before.
  3. General Hospital and Other Soap Talk

Okay. I will have to keep checking. The actress Peggy McCall who played Caroline Brady on DOOL had died last year, but since Days is filmed a year ahead of time, the show had their memorial service today. It was very nice, but also very sad. anyway, today's GH was excellent. I'm so glad they are showing how Kim and Drew are grieving Oscar. The loss of a child is the worst pain a parent can feel. I think Joss is doing a great job too. I think this kid from Turkey is going to be trouble. I love when Alexis and Diane are together. I wish Diane would be a regular on GH, but she's such a great actress that she gets to do so many wonderful things. So Neil and Kevin know each other. That's cool. I also love the scenes between Jason and Carly. Not many men would have a woman as their best friend. lol They are so good together.

It's as easy as the flip of the button, none of these channels have a monopoly on information (well the right is at a serious disadvantage, but at least there is something). Not so much with social media. If you want to put opinions out there and you're not on twitter, you essentially don't matter. Sure, you can post your thoughts on gab, but who's going to hear you other than the people already in your own bubble? That's a problem. That means that there is no real dialogue between opposing sides on anything deeper than surface level crap.

  11. British Politics

Like I said, that happened in 2017. However the Torries managed to make it an election on Brexit and with first past the post, that's what we got. Alot of those supposedly hard left policies appealed to voters. The centre ground ie Blair is what ave us Iraq. The other centre, the Lib Dems gave us the Torries and austerity. According the media, Cameroon is the centre ground too.

  16. British Politics

The left would have supported him mostly but it’s not the left that swing elections. The middle ground is who Labour needs to appeal to and did very successfully under Blair. All this hard left bullshit is doing is alienating centrist voters who Labour desperately need to appeal to if they’re ever going to win another election.

Miilliband wouldn't have rallied the young and the left. He's the kind of MP that campaigns for refugees that he probably voted to bomb. Sure, maybe less austerity and complaining about it wouldn't exactly have been a huge selling point. The tabloids would have found a way. You don't remember his father being portrayed as a traitor to Britian?
  21. US Politics/Elections Thread

Agree 100%. If someone doesn't like what they're hearing on one cable news network they can change to another. Sometimes I like to flip between Fox News and CNN just to see how different the coverage is. It's like two different dimensions. I especially enjoyed jumping over to CNN on election night 2016. It was as somber as a funeral.

  25. British Politics

I think somebody like David Milliband could have won that election. Corbyn is unelectable and as much as it pains me to say it I’d prefer Boris.
