YeAH

Me and high voltage (and his mates) got to go backstage!

We went because vanessa let us in! Shes so nice! We waved to Beta, and she came over to us during the gig and said hello. She was so nice. Very motherly, and shook our hands and everything.

Vanessa let us into the green room, where we met robin, dizzy, ron, frank, some dudes from sebastians band. We further got asked into sebastians dressing room, but soon realised that axl and seb had long gone. So we left. Nonetheless it was a cool experience!

Beta is so nice! Plus free grog! (although I had to spend $50 on a cab ride home so not so free afterall, but nonetheless worth it!

Cool! :tongue2:

Ha - I bet High' started the fucking gay hand waving gesture to Beta... "HI BETA!!"
Big girls blouse that he is - wait till I get chating to the litle fella :rofl-lol:

:rofl-lol:

It's funny because that's actually exactly what I did... I was up front in the center waving to her off in the side wings and she waved back. Then during one of the solos she came down, shook my hand and said hello. Genuinely nice lady, and us getting backstage was a pretty amazing experience too. The VIP passes we got don't have dates on them either, so i'm going to try to use it again tonight and see what happens.

Seriously incredible night though. I'm in an internet cafe, so I can't post a full review or anything... but I got so lucky last night and I won't forget it for a long time. We got chatting to Pitman (really really really nice guy), and shook hands with Robin, Frank, Dizzy. Del walked past several times, but he was only after girls. I saw Richard and Ron up close but didn't get a chance to meet them. I didn't really feel like bugging all of them over and over again... just a quick hello and a handshake for most.

We managed to get back into Bach's dressing room, because the bassist (Rob) and one of the guitarists (Johnny) recognised us from the crowd and they were impressed at the enthusiasm. That was pretty cool as well. :P

anyone see what that sign said that axl asked security to pass up during the show? he smiled and held it up to show the crowd. i couldnt get a good look.

That sign came up from the girl next to us - she's actually a member here on the forum and managed to get backstage with us as well. The sign said "AXL, I'LL BE YOUR BITCH 2NIGHT." Pretty funny.

I'll give everyone a full review of both shows on Monday. Right now i'm just passing through. Apologies I couldn't give updates last night - security were a real pain in the ass and wouldn't even let me send freaking texts... I almost got kicked out for texting during Rose Tattoo's set - it was a little pathetic. My battery is dead at the moment too, but i'll see what I can do about tonight.

Later guys. :)

Still can't fucking believe all that happened...

Alright, what a show!
Only caught the last few songs of Rose Tattoo. Seb Bach was amazing- what a showman. The guy belongs on a stage; really got the crowd going. He asked something along the lines of "So you guys like to rock n' roll all night, and party everyday, right?". So after the inevitable cheer he says "Good, 'cos I'll check back with you in 5 hours to see if you are." On the train home, people were saying how they thought he was joking!
Wasted a chunk of money at the merch stands- tour poster, 2 tour shirts and the GnR army shirt. It was annoying- some guy behind us spilt coke that came down and got on a bit of the poster.
Bach finnished at 10:50. We were joking that that's about when most other bands finish the entire show! The wait wasn't bad at all. At the Rolling Stones show I went to I'm pretty sure we wated longer. The crowd, you could see, were antisipating the band, but weren't getting reckless or anything.
And at 11:50- fuck! Absolutly amazing. Everyone was awesome, the band was great, and the crowd loved it.
Security seemed pretty tight over all- noticed a lof of security pointing lights into peoples cameras. It was pretty annoying/lame. There was a woman near me who just pulled out her camera to take a photo, and a dick head security stood in front of here with the tourch. I mean, that's pretty shit- she couldn't even take a photo from the stands.
Also did anyone see Borat get kicked out?! During the wait, in the silver GA, some guy in the Borat swimming costume was crowd surfing. Everyone was cheering him, but security pulled him out and kicked him out. That was pretty lame of them- it was just some fun. Everyone cheered him as he was escorted by.
The only negatives about the show were the solos. Now, I'll clarify, I like them (I thought Richards and BBFs were the best), but they were crowd killers. The crowd was really into a song, and then a solo, and everyone sat down. Then another song, and they got into it, and stood up agian, but then the same for a solo. And each time less and less people were getting back up.
Also, the worst song of the night to me was IRS suprisingly. For some reason it just didn't sound good. The guitars sounded screechy, Axl sounded screechy, it was at times almost painful to listen to... might just be me though.
It was a real shame to see what happened during the new songs. Everyone sat down. I mean, people should jump at the opening notes of Better, or cheer and everything when The Blues starts. It was just a shame to see people sit down as soon as they started.
That being said The Blues was amazing as always, and Madagascar really was awesome. The background video during the voice clip/solo section is amazing.
Axl's voice at times didn't seem to be that great. Like he was out of key or tune. But then again, while he had some iffy moments, he had some absolute awesome ones too! And besides- it's a live show, that's to be expected.
The crowd was awesome- very loud. During the KOHD crowd sing along the roof must have lifted a bit off the arena!
Axl was in a great mood! Told a story: In Brissy he was talking to some girl, and she asked something along the lines of if he was feeling well (hang over wise). And he replied something like how he feels bad etc. To which the girl replied something like- "Well, princess, this is Australia!" Axl smiled and laughed- "How about that? Princess for a day".
He was just in a great mood, you can see he clearly enjoyed having Angry Anderson up there for Nice Boys. When he said he was bringing a friend out I imediatly thought Bubbles; but luckily we were in for a bit more of a treat! When Angry left Axl joked around, fell to the floor 'dead' and slowly put his middle finger up. I don't know what he said- but the image of him falling and slowly raising a middle finger 'from the grave' was hilarious!
The band in general were just amazing. BBF- how cool is that guy! Everyone loved the solo. People were singing along with the national anthem, BIB and Don't Cry. I never really noticed how hard Rich hits those strings! Robin was great and energetic (did people see that they were selling Robin shirts at merch?). Frank is a damn cool guy- great drummer. Tommy seemed to really enjoy in.
It was awesome- after Dizzys solo (which was amazing), he got a huge ovation. Then Tommy came on and was pointing at him, and he got another huge ovation! You could see that he was appreciative of that.
Over all- what can you say apart from what a fucking show! Amazing. Hopefully tonights show lives up to it. And we get a nice 'last show' suprise too!

Edit- Also have to mention- during The Blues, Axl got on top of the piano and was dancing around on it!
Not sure if he often does that but it was fucking awesome!

Yeh I saw that guy in the mankini get kicked out, he wasnt far from where I was standing. He didn't even get to see the gunners play. Axl asked the security to hand him a sign that someone had, what did it say? Amazing show.
Where is the better video?

'Sydney 23rd Show'

..there's been 23 shows in Sydney alone? wow! - how many more to go? :D

In all seriousness i've lost interest in Gn'R. Back in 2001 I thought the new line was interesting, but now I sense fans have grown bored, me included. The post count on MyGnR and HTDGTH is way low at the moment.
If and when the album arrives, i'll download it, just to see what its like. If i'm surprised and it turns out really good, then i'll buy an original copy, but I have a feeling the new band are struggling to make finished music.

I am the only one who thought the crowd totally ruined the show!

I was in Silver Floor for sat night, and no one was even nodding their heads. There was like 1 guy next to me who was and i had a chat to him about how lame the crowd was and he totally agreed. Even up in the gold section there wasn't much action. fuckn ruined my night. I had tickets for Sunday Gold Floor that i didnt even use, mainly because i was fucked from 2 games of rugby on the weekend and had to work early in the morning.. but i just had no desire to sit (stand) through it all again. especially being so late.

So, the sound was pretty rubbish. Couldn't really here Axl. His voice isn't that great anymore... Sad to say it but its true.

I spoke to a mate today who was there and he said that the security were making a big deal about anyone acting badly.. saying that anyone crowd surfing or anything would be kicked out. this was when he was entering the Superdome. I guess that may explain some of the lack of action in the crowd. But come on. Everyone around me was just standing there... people had their arms crossed. WTF, the guy next to me started passing out and had to get thrown to the security. I guess thats what happens when you stand still for 5 hours Lol

Anyway all in all i was totally disappointed, the crowd sucked balls... i woulda walked off if i were Axl

Highlights - Nice Boys!

I gotta admitt I don't know why some people bother going to concerts when all they do is stand/sit there not moving a fucken finger. We had some girls behind us like that, they complained about us standiing and I told them to get fucked, I was not sitting down, I paid good money to come and see GNR and I will fucken dance if I want to! They did not say a word after that. Their lame arse boyfriends did not even say a word.

I don't agree with you saying Axl's voice isn't great anymore. It was fucken awesome at the Brisbane concert. No complaints at all.

Oh how clever of you adding "By Stupid Moron" not only that, you put it in capitals, as if to amplify it for some reason

Seriously, everyone i spoke to about the concert said the same thing, the crowd was lame. My brother was on crutches for sunday, he stayed at the back of the gold pit, then afterwards thought to himself... why the fuck didnt i just go to the front. nothing was happening. He coulda been on the fuckn fence.

And John, i've been waiting just as long as you to see them, but half the reason was because i thought it would be the most outa control concert ever. (though from what we've seen in recent years it was obviously not going to be that)

For anyone who thought that the crowd at GNR was "going off", did you guys go to Velvet Revolver? Now there was a crowd that was going off, major crowd surges, major collapses, chick next to me passing out (not cause she was standing in the same spot & bored). It was Nutz.

Anyway just realised i gtg.... might elaborate more in the future.

I was at this concert and I have to say I saw the crowd going off in the mosh pit towards the front, towards the back not so much( silver section), but that didn't bother me, I had great seats and I was too busy singing and dancing in my little spot and watching the band on stage to notice . Axl sounded great, I could hear him so clearly where I was. My mum went to this concert with me and even commented on how great Axl sounded and said he has a great voice. The concert rocked!!! rock3
