First there are simple forum rules which you agree to when you register.

RECAP OF THE SIMPLE FORUM RULES TO FOLLOW:
1) Be polite and respect other members and point of views; harassment, vulgar insults and namecalling will not be tolerated
2) Message must make sense, contain a real topic for people to debate, contain more than just an emoticon
3) Racist, homophobic and sexual posts, images, or signatures not allowed
4) No flooding allowed (member will be banned without warning)
5) Do not knowingly post false or misleading stories about the band in the main GNR discussion section, and do no resurrect old outdated threads for the sole purpose of misleading members.
6) Follow SIGNATURE GUIDELINES and AVATAR GUIDELINES
7) ADVERTISING: Links to other GNR related forums or websites permitted in the AINT IT FUN Forum only (LINK GUIDELINES)
8) POSTS, SIGNATURES, USERNAMES: No advertising whatsoever
9) ACCOUNTS: There is a strict one account per member policy. Additional accounts will be rejected/banned, and main account could also be banned. More information here.
10) This is a GNR FAN Forum, members should keep this in mind when posting. Do not bash GNR, VR, MEMBERS, EX-MEMBERS, or their MANAGEMENT
11) Remember that this is the Internet. You never know who's at the other end of a computer. Keep this in mind when you post and when you choose to share personal info or photos of yourselves with others
12) Do not post phone numbers, addresses or any other personal information on band members, forum members, or anyone else
13) Do not post private AIM/MSN conversations or personal messages. These are private!
14) DOWNLOADS/FILE SHARING: IT IS FORBIDDEN BY LAW TO SHARE OFFICIALLY RELEASED (OR UNRELEASED) MEDIA OF ANY KIND. This includes but is not limited to officially released: songs, albums, singles, bonus tracks, radio edits, promos, home videos/DVDs, music videos, movies and software.
15) NAME CHANGE: If needed, members are allowed to change their username once. Requirements: No warnings within the past three months. Members are asked to keep the old name in their signature lines for one month so that other members will not be confused. Click here for instructions.
16) No ticket scalping: members cannot sell tickets to other members at prices above face value (plus postage, taxes).
17) When posting news, member must post a link to the original source of the news article. Another website/fan forum is not a source unless that website/fan forum actually conducted the interview that resulted in the news.

HOW THE RULES ARE ENFORCED:
Users, Moderators, Global Moderators & Admins read messages. Members can report messages with the "Report to Moderator" button which appears next to every message.

Users who break one or more rules usually get a friendly warning the first time(depending on the seriousness of the rule broken). This warning does not appear in the "Warning" system.

WARNING SYSTEM:
Users can see their "Warning" level under their avatar, or in their profile. Should the user not comply after receiving a "friendly" warning, an official warning will be sent to the user. The level increases 10% with each warning. Users are then usually banned after 3 warnings, depending on the seriousness of the situation.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET BANNED:
Users who get banned can no longer "see" the Forum anymore. The Forum has sophisticated options which make it easy to detect users who try to return to the Forum. Returning users will get banned without any warning in order to make people think twice before getting banned in the first place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q. I found a message which I think has broken the rules.
A. Simply use the Posted Image button underneath the post and give as much detail as possible. It will then soon be reviewed by the moderating team.

Q. Could I get banned for exposing my views on GNR?
A. Nope! As long as you follow all the very simple rules you will not get banned.

Q. Can a Moderator ban me?
A. Nope, only a Admin or Global Moderator can.

Q. I got banned. I didn't mean what I said, can I be unbaned? [ie. user has posted many racist posts]
A. You must live with the consequences of your actions.

Q. I got banned but I remember someone saying something similar in the past, why should I be banned?
A. You broke the Forum rules didn't you? If you break the forum rules, are warned and continue to break them you will get banned. Period.

Q. I got banned but want to come back to the Forum, will having people start a debate about me boost my chances of having my account back?
A. It won't. Period.

Q. Do people often get banned?
A. Nope, few people have been banned since 1999.

Q. Can I change my member name?
A. This is possible, simply click here for instructions.

Q. What is "text" language, and is it permitted on the forum?
A. "Text" language are shortforms people sometimes use to condense words, such as "u" instead of "you", and "r" instead of "are." It is preferable people spell out their words in full english language when posting on the forum because this makes it easier for members to understand the opinions, ideas and views being posted. Writing words out in full also shows respect and consideration for members who don't speak english as their first language, who might find it difficult to understand "text" language..... If a member repeatedly ignores requests from a mod or admin to stop writing in "text" language because the person uses it excessively, the member will be suspended for 7 days.
