Hi guys! I was wondering along time ago what do you think about Axl's vision.
We all know that the guns music is about evolving, to experience new sounds and to express your feelings giving everything in each song. (Or at least that is how I feel about Guns)

Do you guys think like this too?, or you just like one music style and hold on to it without trying new styles and new kind of music?.- If the answer is no, then why are you in the band and what does Guns means to you?.- And if the answer is yes... then I'm glad you are in the band! :P

Thanks for your time!... it's a GREAT honor for me just to know you are reading this..

Greetings from Argentina

Did any of you guys approach, or consider approaching Axl about possibly releasing the album and such under a new band name? I mean, if I were one of you guys I would be super psyched being in GNR, but does it ever feel like you're in the shadow of pre-93 GNR?

This question has been on my mind after living with the album for a few months, so if any GN'R members have insights on the subject they want to share, that would rock. B)

As the topic title implies, I'm really curious about which song took the longest, or perhaps felt like it took the longest, to get to its final/best incarnation. Additionally, which one took the shortest amount of time to get to that "right" spot?

Thanks again for the killer album, guys!

First of all I'd like to thank you for your contributions on ChiDem, love Dizzys piano on "Street of Dreams" and Ron's solos on "Scraped" and "Riad" (I think the this solo has more energy in it, compared to the demo!)

Dizzy:

Being the only person besides Axl who has seen the old and the new, what would be the main differences in regard to recording, musical direction, touring and the way the band functions off-stage (like relationships between band members etc.)?

Ron:

Have you written any material for Guns and do you have anyone particular in the band who you feel most comfortable with jamming and writing music?

My question is simple, what was it like working with Axl on Chinese Democracy? Was it strickly professional or are you guys more of a close family?

I loved Chinese Democracy by the way, thanks for getting it out guys!

I know this question sounds harsh and I'm asking it with all due respect - this album is a great one, and you guys are responsible for a huge part of it!

But still: In the past, when you were playing legendary songs that had been written by legendary musicians many years before you were performing them publicly, didn't it feel weird, like something you were not supposed to be playing, or like you were really receiving applause for the merit of others?

Not asking about your logical, conscious answers here, of course you had every right (not just legally) to play them, but I'm just asking how it FELT to you.

In any case, this issue will probably dissolve as time goes by and you play more of your own songs.

Thanks and have a great one!
You know where you are!?? You are in the forum, baby!!!

Why was the bass mixed so low/ weird-ly on Chinese Democracy? Kinda spoils the sound of the album for me. Prostitute/TWAT heavy chorus suffers most obviously from this.

Otherwise, I think it's one of the best rock albums ever made,

Mikey

Hey Brain, Frank, Richard, Tommy, Bumblefoot, Dizzy, Chris. Before anything I just wanna say I really enjoyed all your work on Chinese Democracy. You guys rock. I do have one question for all of you. Why do you guys commit to Guns N' Roses, or rather what makes you guys commit to this band? The reason I ask this is because, to be honest, and I mean no disrespect to anyone, you guys can do better in so many other bands, or even solo for that matter. I mean, being a new member in GNR, you will always have people compare your work to that of the past GNR and many people will fail to accept the new material as it is, saying it's not exactly "GNR". Also, there is always a certain level of uncertainty in this band, when it comes to release dates, legal matters, tours, promotions, and even who's in or out of the band for that matter. You guys are extremely talented and your talents would flourish much more in any other band. What makes you guys commit to Guns N' Roses? Is it the musical genius of Axl? Or are you guys somehow emotionally or musically attached to the band? Is there a certain sense of belonging that we aren't aware of? Or are you guys somehow obliged to continue working on material? What is it? I'd really like to know, and I know I'm not the only one. I thank you guys in advance for your time and effort. God Bless and continue doing what you guys are doing, keep it real.

Best regards,
Edward Kuruvilla

Shows starting several hours late, or cancelled completely, sometimes last minute, were a problem for old GN'R members to handle according to interviews they've given in the past.
Similar things occurred during the last 2 tours. How do the current band members feel on the subject?

Besides when working in the studio or on tour with Guns N' Roses how often do you guys see and work with each other? Also, did any of you know each other before joining Guns N' Roses?

How are the songs written? The band jams some ideas, shows them to Axl, if he likes them you collaborate on structure and work it from there? Someone from the band brings in a whole structured song and everyone adds bits over the top? Axl has an idea of a topic he wants to sing about and an idea for the music and gets the musicians to help him come up with the melodies and riffs?

I'm just curious to how it all works. I'd assume that it's a mixture of all different types of things, so it'd be great if you could talk about specific examples and who's idea it was to put what where (from songs on CD as well as new ones we haven't heard.)

Thanks.

when you guys get together to record and tour,
what is something you do to prep yourselves
is there any fun before the show ritual you guys do?

I guess this is a fairly broad question since it might not be the best/fondest memory..just simply what stood out over the time you've been with GNR on tour, writing, going about daily routines with the band etc.
