Mind you, Pop and A.B. were quality records.
The modern stuff is ultimately very forgettable. The new single is possibly their worst ever, or certainly that I can remember being released in my lifetime. That said, Vertigo was pretty poor.
I miss Pop. Man, that was edgy, cool U2. Fucking awesome shit.

Well, yes. I am sure the problems in Northern Ireland spilled over into neighboring countries. As I recall, weren't there even a few problems in London because of it? Sometimes violence from the Mexican drug wars spills over into the US, according to Rolling Stone. War and violence are always devastating on a national, and sometimes personal, scale. I was just trying to make the point Axl endured sexual abuse, physical abuse, witnessed domestic violence, was alienated in school because of the restrictive environment in which he was raised, was considered a juvenile delinquent, abused hard drugs, has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was thrown out of his parent's home when he was 16, was homeless in LA, has been accused of being a cyclical batterer himself, but made superhuman efforts to overcome all of it to let his genius shine through and to make the world a better place on several fronts. Most with his background do not overcome it.

That's because the IRA were at war with the British government. You people seriously need to read up on this stuff.

War-Torn Ireland?
Presuming you mean up North where I live... If Bono really cared he'd be playing gigs up here.
Bono might have been giving ideas to people about this place all over the world, but I assure Bono has made zero difference to this country.

For the record most of the people who live here are British and the British government has as much influence over us as they do Wales & Scotland.

I have read about it, and have a general awareness of who was fighting whom. Not exactly the topic of thread, however.

I also found these comments interesting. Perhaps a certain amount of Bono's do-gooder reputation is based upon the American media's perceptions and portrayals? I would have expected him to be supportive of both sides.

Anyways, Axl is the best frontman of all time to me, so I like him better.

Watch this clip and you will see that it's pretty obvious Axl has more charisma.
Fuck, that took place in Vienna and I wasn't there. At that point, I wasn't really a Guns fan; one year later, when they came back, I went to the concert.
