I have Joshua Tree, War, Best of 1980-1990, and I have No Line on the Horizon

My favorite songs are

Pride
Where the Streets Have No Name
Angel of Harlem
With or Without You
Still Haven't Found What I'm Lookin' For
Desire
Magnificent
Crazy Tonight
Stand Up Comedy
New Years Day
Bloody Sunday

Am I missing any hidden gems on those albums, and are there any other albums and songs you recommend?

Get Achtung Baby. In my opinion its their best album but they are all quite good.

Achtung Baby, Zooropa and Pop are much more experimental when compared to their earlier stuff.

Get All That You Can't Leave Behind as its a really good album and considered their 21st century comeback album.

To be honest you should just go and download/ buy all of them but I would start off with Achtung Baby, All That You Can't Leave Behind, The Unforgettable Fire and War

Man club a baby seal to death, conduct abortions, join the nazi party, start a child porn ring before you put a U2 record on, there's a reccomendation.

Most of those pretentious banda you are always trying to talk about, would give their left nut to have u2's output.

U2 is Joy Division fully realized.

I agree, but I don't think it should be a first pick for a next album if he doesn't have Actung Baby! or Pop. Picking up Zooropa after Pop would probably be a good choice.

Numb is also a great track from Zooropa.

I disagree.

IMO, Pop is a harder listen then Zooropa.

Zooropa is one great single away from being U2's best work.

But really, if I was going to get someone going on U2 this is the order I would tell them to go in for the first couple of albums:

War
Achtung Baby
Unforgettable Fire
Zooropa
October
Boy
Pop
Joshua Tree

I actually heard U2's first two albums or so are their best, with a pretty different sound than what they turned into, is there any truth to that?

Their first three albums sound totally different from almost anything after that. They're great though, but not their best in my opinion.

A few months back when I was first getting into U2, I said that HTDAAB was my favorite, but that has changed a good bit. Personally, I think my three favorites are Actung Baby!, Zooropa and either The Joshua Tree or No Line On The Horizon. Pop is very close though, along with War.

I'm not saying that it's a lesser work in any way, I just think someone might enjoy it more after a listen through Pop. I don't know though. I'm probably wrong, but either way, if someone is asking for a U2 recommendation and they don't own Actung Baby!, that would be the first pick.

Joshua Tree and Achtung are the big two. Then maybe All That You Can't Leave Behind. With No Line they come to end of the raod again so the next record will have to be a big one or they will break up.

The trilogy of Achtung, Zooropa, Pop is pretty accessible for most rock fans.

I would agree that the 90's trilogy of albums; Achtung, Zooropa and Pop are great but also agree that the next album will have to be big and maybe a direction change as they have tended to do things ln batches of three.

Boy, October, War
Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum
Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Pop
All That You Can't Leave Behind, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, No Line On The Horizon

Seems like they are ready for a new trilogy of albums in a newer direction.
