The other side is when Slash offered a branch Axl did throw it back at him.

They don't seem any closer to working together and even with some perspective Slash still hasn't said he was f'd on drugs/Axl could have had his own problems. He's in the end taken the high road, which might not be the best route if you want a reunion?

Unless you understand mental illness and have studied it, it's very hard to be able to tell if someone is actually mentally ill or they are just an asshole. You have to look for specific traits of mental illness, which Axl does in fact have all the specific traits of one mental illness (which is actually more treatable now than ever before). I won't say anymore because people get pissed when you start labeling him.

but hey ,we got a great new version of GN'R, and we've got some good stuff from slash (VR, snakepit, new solo record), so whilst neither man alone will rival what they achieved in the old GN'R, they've both made and hopefully will continue to make kickass music for a while yet

I don't think they will hate each other for ever but I really don't see them working with each other.
You just have to listen to Contraband and to Chinese Democracy to understand why the old band could not survive.
If you add Axl's recent comments on Slash's guitar playing ( to sum it up : he hasn't evolved ) in the equation, I don't think Axl would be really interested in playing with him again.
