I think that people's problem with the NewGNR lineup is a mixture of a couple of things:
1.) Not the orignal lineup
2.) Having had to wait 15 years for an album that sounds overprocessed
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.) Like someone else said before, the original lineup didn't say "no comment" and let management take care of things. They all contributed their own unique musical tastes and styles to AFD, GNR Lies, and the UYI albums. These guys clawed their way to the top, the current lineup didn't. There doesn't seem to be that urgency to play and that camraderie between the members that there used to be. It lacks spirit.
2.) 15 years isn't worth waiting for any album, even a Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin one. By the time it was released, people were tired of waiting and the hype had kind of died down. And then there's always the fact that only Axl is an original member and the guys who shaped the Guns sound are gone. After sitting for 15 years, it's understandable that the album will sound a overprocessed. Love Chinese Democracy or hate it, that's a fact.
