To tell you the truth, I feel a little peculiar listening to Gn'R at this point and time.
Don't get me wrong. Gn'R is my number one favorite band---- BUT the music sounds different after all of this downtime. When I hear Welcome To The Jungle I don't get chills anymore. I don't feel like I'm trancending into music heaven when listening to Catcher.
I'm afraid to say that I may have just grown tired of the band, from over playing them... But I think not. If a Guns song ever comes on the radio by happenstance, I'll crank it up with glee and excitement.
---
But it's become very monotonous and tiresome, scrolling through my iPod and seeing the same songs... Knowing that there is more out there.
---
I've learned that Nu-Gn'R is basically one disappointment after another. Not trying to knock the band, it's just how things have been going this year... And for the past 14 years.
---
Another thing that has really deterred me recently, is the general image of the band.... You can't really get more Rock 'n' Roll than the original lineup... But what the hell has the band become. Just on looks alone it's everything I hate about music and style today.
Besides Axl and Ron, it's a band of goons. Richard, Tommy, Chris, DJ... Just a bunch of strange bunch of emo hipsters with even worse hair.
--------
It's hard to be proud of the band nowaday. ChiDem was spectacular, and that all went to waste.
Sometime's i find myself wondering, at what point will I just give up?

.I'll admit to not being nearly as excited as I was, say .. About this time last year. There were all the leaks happening, the album's release date was being tossed around, Bestbuy.com posted the tracklisting (yeah, I know that came a little later)
Anyhow, my point is ... I still listen to Chinese Democracy on a near daily basis, in some form. Not in it's entirety, but I usually squeeze in "Catcher" or "Scraped" on my way to work ... Maybe a little "Prostitute" during lunch. But as disappointed as I am about any lack of activity and touring, I try to just be patient with Axl, because he's doing this on his time, not ours.
In the meantime, bands Like Radiohead, Bon Iver, Wilco and even forgotten gems like Cat Stevens and Big Star have kept me going. But nobody could ever replace Axl for me.He's at the top of my list. The never - ending wait for "Chinese Democracy" came and went. That was something to look forward to.And now, we have more material and some touring to look forward to.Yes, perhaps not as soon as we'd like, but again ... this is Axl's band, not ours.
Just hang in there. There is always "other" music to tide us all over.

+1 So true. AFD will remain one of my all-time faves though, maybe it's because I associate it with the real band and not with today's Axl.

What the hell are you talking about? How are any of those people goons? Exceptions maybe for Ashba - some people just don't like that look, but the rest of them are pretty normal.

Sometimes I'll listen to something and just overplay it to the point where it gets boring. I won't play it for a while, and when I feel like I wanna listen to it, I just put it back on.
Doesn't mean you've outgrown them or whatever, maybe it just means you need to expand and listen to other artists for a little while.

Exactly my thoughts.
I hardly ever listen to Gn'R anymore, but when I do, for nostalgia's sake, or whatever, I am reminded that they are a fucking AWESOME band.
