So I'm listenting to Catcher In The Rye, and man, this is a killer tune. But I've been trying to figure out the lyrics to the second verse, the part the booklet simply leaves out, and just can't figure it out for the life of me.

Since Dexter's plans to re-release CD with the corrected booklet is obviously not gonna happen, could someone please tell me what the correct lyrics are. (Watch me get 10 different answers.) Thanks!

Here's what I'm hearing....

When all is said and done
We're not the only ones
Who look at life this way
That's what the young folks say

??As if they'd ever change??
??That's that, who am I to say??

But every time I see them makes me wish I had a gun

That's what the young folks say
And if they'd ever change
As that reminds to say

that's what I hear

The Rock Band lyrics put it as:

As if they'd ever change
As that were mine to say

As if that were mine to say?

Like it's not really his business but he's just saying?

This is the Holden-type character talking, who hates young and old people?
