Question
Hi Irina,
This isn't really a question, just additional info as to what happened to Erin Everly after the annulment of their marriage. Someone had asked you a question if Axl and Erin still keep in touch. Erin's brother, Edan, and I lived together for two years. For a period of time we stayed with Erin who was living alone in a house in the Hollywood Hills. I was staying there when the article came out in People magazine about Stephanie Seymour and Erin suing Axl for domestic abuse. She was supposed to have been on the cover of the previous month's edition but O.J. had just been arrested for murdering Nicole Simpson and People decided to put that story on the cover instead. So the following month featured Stephanie Seymour and Erin on the cover which was to their benefit because everyone was talking about domestic abuse by that time.

Erin was invited to go to China on vacation by her best friend, Taryn, who Erin had met during her modeling days. Taryn had married and moved to Atlanta, Georgia so they hadn't seen each other in a while. Taryn's husband, an architect, was going to China on business and Taryn asked Erin to go along to keep her company. Erin debated if she should go or not and asked Edan and I what we thought she should do. We urged her to go. We thought it might be a good idea for her to get away from all the publicity. Reporters were hounding her because of the People magazine article and we thought she could use a vacation. Besides, her relationship with David Arquette had just ended and she seemed a little heartbroken over that. (He is now married to Courtney Cox.)

The plan was for her to fly from Los Angeles, while Taryn and her husband would fly from Atlanta, and they would meet up in China. On the airplane, Erin ended up sitting next to Taryn's husband's brother, who was also an architect and planning to meet his brother in China. Erin had never met the brother but, because it was a very long flight, they got to know each other very well. Erin ended up falling in love with him, they eventually got married, and moved to Atlanta. She now lives the good life in a beautiful home and has a son whom she named Eres. Strangely enough, you would think that Taryn would be happy about the two best friends marrying the two brothers and living near each other in Atlanta. Now Erin was a part of the family and they became sisters-in-law. But after Erin moved to Atlanta her friendship with Taryn wasn't so solid anymore. It seems that Taryn felt like Erin was invading her space. (Besides, Erin tended to be a flirt, which is why I think her and Axl fought so much. She knew how to push his buttons.)

Erin has never worked a day in her life, except the modeling gigs she gave up when she met Axl. Her modeling agency, Wilhemina, was based in New York and she wanted to be with Axl, who live in L.A. For some reason, children of celebrities seem to feel they deserve some sort of entitlement. An unknown man (we never met him) was supporting her while Edan and I were living with her. Her rent on the house we were staying in was $10,000 a month and he paid for it. Now she is married and has a child with a very wealthy man, which guarantees that she will be taken care of for the rest of her life.

Edan and I are no longer together because his heroin problem became too much for me to handle. He used to be in a band called, appropriately enough, Edan. When they disbanded he was in a band called Blueberry for a short while. (That was also an appropriate name because Edan's favorite fruit was blueberries.) His best friend, Frank Avalon Jr, was in both bands with him. I remember they both got drunk one night at the recording studio and came home singing a silly new song they had written called "Watermelon." I have a cassette of songs that Edan had recorded at home that has never been released. Knowing Edan, he probably lost the reel to reel tape and now I've got the only copy of those songs. I've lost contact with him so I have no idea what he is doing now. I don't know if you're familiar with the Everly Brothers (Don & Phil) but they wrote and sang such classics as Bye Bye Love, Dream, Dream, Dream, and Cathy's Clown. They also wrote a song that was recorded by Linda Rondstadt called "It's So Easy to Fall in Love." I ran into Edan's cousin, Chris Everly (Phil's son) at a Blockbuster a few months ago and Chris said that Edan was recording an album with Jason (Chris's older brother.)

Erin and Edan also have an older sister named Stacy who lives in Santa Barbara. She has always stayed out of the limelight and, for that reason, a lot of times I'll see it written that Don Everly only had two children but he actually had three kids. Well, actually four. They also have a half-sister, Venetia, who is Don's daughter from his first marriage. Ironically enough, their mother, Don's second wife, is also named Venetia. Think about that one for a while! I just thought I'd give you some updated info since one of the questions asked to you was if Axl and Erin still kept in touch. I had spoken with Axl's lawyers a couple of times (they had called me for some info about Erin after Edan and I broke up) and I'm sure that the only time Erin would speak to Axl is if it were thru her lawyer. Besides, she's married now and has no interest in Axl. By the way, I've met Axl a few times and he was always nice to me. After Edan and I broke up, I wrote a column for an alternative music magazine here in L.A. One time I was at a nightclub and ran into Axl. He was all alone and seemed very quiet. A lot of people don't understand him but, from my point of view, he needed to get rid of a lot of aggression when he was younger. It seems he may have mellowed a bit now that he's getting older. If you have any further questions feel free to email me.

Best Regards,
Marti

That made for some very uncomfortable reading...beating women is fucking sick. Only two weeks ago my friend who is waif-like got beaten to within an inch of her life by a 6'5" bodybuilder. Whats even more fucked up is that she is still with the guy.

Whilst I admire Axl Rose I do accept that he has been violent towards women, in fact although his excuse was self defence he has admitted it. I feel sad about this, it's one thing to trash hotel rooms, fight with other men and go off on long verbal hissy fits but it's unacceptable to hit a woman especially one you're supposed to love and care about.
However, these claims lay back in Axl's past, since then no current or recent girlfriends are making the same claims so maybe Axl's complying with his treatment for his bi-polar disorder, maybe he's cut down on the drugs that may have contributed to making him paranoid. Although Axl's still quick to kick off verbally there is a more noticable calm about him now and what ever he did whilst out of the public eye I think maybe he's had some help for his problems.

Biting a securitys leg and getting into a fist fight with Tommy H is what you call noticably calm?

some of you people are fucking ridiculous!!! "its all about his music" uuuhhh...no its not, the articles about how he treated Erin, not his vocals on appetite, in this instance, music dont have jack fucking shit to do with it. How the fuck can you excuse things that are basically fucking moral shortcoming by talking about music. You telling me if Hitler had written SCOM all would be forgiven??

Dont get me wrong here, i dont know what happened in their relationship but assuming he did do this shit (which seems to be the assumption that you're laboring under the minute you begin to defend/excuse the acts in question), he's fucked up and their aint no fucking excusing it. How'd you live in the real world and be so fucking blind at the same time? crossing the street must be a bitch..."the occasional bitch slap here and there" shut the fuck up, whats the line on the motherfucker who wrote that being some tickle dicked weiner ass little punk??

And this is the same website that whenever theres some article about a dog getting abused or something the whole forum chimes in with "i think he should have red hot wire coat hangers crammed in his ass" and "this person should be shot". the consistency of the moral outrage on here is fucking bullshit. fact, fold this one up, put it in your pocket and fucking take it with you (although some of y'all need to tattoo it on your face):

Wow. Its amazing how this can still evoke so much discussion after all thime. For anyone who says they are not sure whether to believe it or not...well there is never smoke without any fire - and this fire has been fuelled for a long time. i cannot believe some of the comments i've read on this thread actually! ffrankwhite, you got it spot on.

Can I just clarify....when I said "For anyone who says they are not sure whether to believe it or not...well there is never smoke without any fire" I was referring to Axl beating Erin - not Erins modelling career :)

Oh that was the problem! I would have figured him having sex with other people would have also been a factor, but apparently it was just her being a flirt. That hussy!

From the tracks on his arms, large caliber wound, proximity to a heroin market... I'd say it was a heated dispute about the symbolism of red and blue in 18th-century French romantic poetry. - Munch

Having an abusive childhood, a sudden rise from struggling financially to being wealthy and famous, the rock n roll life style (drink and drugs) these all contribute to the behaviour described in that article. I hope that Axl has left that part of himself behind and that he's happier with who he is, who you are in your 20's isn't the same person you become in your 40's.

Jo

Well put. Although I am repulsed by his behavior toward Erin, I can't help but admire the fact that he very publicly has admitted he knew he needed help and desired to be a better man (one of the old RS interviews.) If only every domestic batterer could similarly evolve to end the cycle of violence!
