The crowd wasn't very nice at the beginning of the show, that's what I heard.

Hopefully Brain being sick doesn't affect the album.

Anyway, GET WELL SOON!

When Matt Sorum broke his wrist, Brian Tichy (the replacement drummer) took one afternoon to learn the drum parts to all of Contraband.

Willkommen in der Dunkelheit.

Contraband isn't very complicated, and Brian Tichy is a good drummer.

BTW, Frank ruined Mr. Brownstone & YCBM

Do you think the setlist was affected by Brain's absence? In other words, might they have rehearsed some other, as yet unplayed songs with Brain but not with Frank?

Im not sure if it was affected or not, but it very well could have been. I just dont think they would debut a new song for the first time unless it was the entire band performing it.

Lots of people left the show halfway.

Axl really needs to think more about the fans. I know this is how he has always been but its a weekday, most people have to get up the next morning, its really shitty for them. I mean he puts on a long set anyway, no need to delay the start of it.

It's common for ppl to leave during a long boring show.

I just got back from the show. I thought it was pretty kick-ass. Axl soundged fucking great. No, there were no new songs or news, but the show rocked. The only time the crowd really wasnt into it was during the new songs, especially the Blues.

I was very suprised how great Axl sounded. I would gladly pay to see them again. I was hoping for news, but I did not walk away disappointed.

Time for sleep.

Peace

Most evrybody I saw was having a killer time. It slowed down with th enew songs and the solos, but the crowd was on thier feet the entire time when the old school shit was on.

Ok, I just got back from the show and was reading this thread. Some is accurate and some is bullshit. Its true that the crowd was pissed and began negative chants due to the band coming on too late but when the lights went down and Jungle came on that all changed and the crowd response was great throughout. Someone through a bear at Axl but thats it. Axl even commented that "you certainly are a live bunch." They even did a bow at center stage with the entire band after Paradise City which I don't recall happening often. Anyone that was there should know this was a great kickoff for the tour. Anyway, on to my entire review.

JUST GOT BACK FROM THE SHOW!!!!! and............................. IT KICKED SOME MAJOR ASS! This is my fifth time seeing them (Las Vegas 01, Minneapolis 02, Fargo 02 and Chicago 02) and I can honestly say that this was the best show I've ever seen. Band sounded tight and the crowd was live as fuck (mainly because they didn't have chairs on the floor!)

Doors opened around 7:30pm. I went in and stopped by the merchandise stand. They had a lot of stuff including a GN'R hockey jersey for $100! I went with a T-shirt with a yellow GN'R symbol on the front and the tour dates on the back and a banner to hang up in my new apartment. Then I grabbed a burger and a beer and went down to the floor at about 8pm where Sebastian Bach had already started playing!

Baz sounded great! He played around 5 new songs of his new bands and about 5 old school Skid Row songs! They were 18 and Life, Piece of Me, I Remember You, Monkey Business, and Youth Gone Wild! I'm a pretty big Skid Row fan so I was very pleasantly surprised. He said his album is coming sometime in 2007. It probably won't tear up the charts or anything but it should be worth checking out.

Sebastion finished up at around 8:40 and Papa Roach hit the stage shortly after 9. I'm not a big fan of Papa Roach, in fact the only song I was looking forward to hearing was Last Resort. But I will say that they brought a lot of energy to the stage and did a great job at getting the crowd warmed up. They opened with that new song thats playing on the radio now, closed with Last Resort, and played all their hits and some new stuff in between.

Papa Roach was done by 10pm and then the long wait for GN'R started. Now I saw that there was already a long ass thread in another area about the wait time being to long so I'm not gonna continue the argument, but I will say that waiting and hour and a half standing and sweating with no where to sit is not fun. Chants of what the fuck, fuck Axl, and bullshit started. Some people even said screw it and left. I will see GN'R whenever they're in the area and no matter when Axl goes on, but there is really no need for this.

At approximately 11:30 the lights went down and crowd went apeshit! They did the same intro they've been doing (I personally wish they would use that Exorcist thing they used in 2001 but oh well) The band came out followed by Axl at the center of the stage and they went right into Welcome To The Jungle, followed by Its So Easy, Mr. Brownstone and Live and Let Die. The crowd was absolutely nuts throughout these four songs. Then Axl informed everyone that he was partying into the wee hours of the morning the night before riding a mechanical bull. I am 99% sure he was referring to the Tequila Ranch and the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood. I wish I would have thought of that considering I live 5 minutes away. Robin did a solo and then Sweet Child o Mine got the crowd going again. After this it gets really cloudy so I'll just say what I remember. The new songs they did were IRS, Better, The Blues, and Chinese Democracy for the encore. Not a good crowd response but thats expected considering almost all the people have not heard those songs. You Could Be Mine was bad ass and crowd was jumping up and down in the front throughout it all. Axl introduced the band at about halfway through. Frank Ferrara was on drums and there is really no word on whats going on with Brain. I like Brain but Frank does a great job so its not really that big of a thing to me. Dizzy looked to be in great shape, I think Pittman was drunk of on drugs or something, Tommy looked really grungy, Fortus had on a bright red shirt and looked basically like he always does, Ron Thal had on a bright Hawaiian like shirt, and I think its official that Robin is now a hippie style rocker rather than the goth axeman we saw back in 02. He was even doing a psychedelic dance during the intros. Axl had about 5 or so different outfits that we've seen on the European tour. Sebastian came out for My Michelle and told Thal that he should turn his shirt down cuz it was causing interference. Funny shit! That song and Nighttrain both rocked hard and Patience- November Rain were very emotional with everyone singing along. First encore was Chinese Democracy and then Paradise City which was awesome. Crowd was going crazy with a big pit that formed which I was a part of. Fireworks and confetti ended the night!

The band was great and the crowd was hot which in my opinion is always important to making the show a success. Axl even commented at one point that "your certainly a live bunch." He also stated that he smelled an aroma and that he's just gonna assume its for medical purposes only. Good stuff! After Paradise City the whole band even came out and took a big bow at center stage which I don't remember hearing that they do a lot. I think they knew that they had just had an outstanding show to kickoff the tour. Nothing about a release date but I'm sure that will come soon. After the bow, Axl stated that they hope to be back soon. All you motherfuckers that have tickets to this show in your city, get ready because your in for a wild ride!
The king is coming back to relcaim his throne... real soon...

I just came back from the show. I thought It was geat! Highlights like Axl's voice on most of the songs and Ron's Don't cry were some of my favorite things. Now for the bad... Too many solos that completely kill the mood of a show and no news on the new album. Out to get me?? they could have played something else in my opnion. But nevertheless it was an awsome show and I had a great time. Axl still got it!!

BTW Ron kicked ass!! But his shirt Even Baz commented about it. Something like " That shirt is causing interference"
