I personally hate the solo's but we all know they need to be done. Axl needs time to rest his vocal chords and change out. That's fine but I think the solo's last night were just a little too long. By the time he came back after the second solo the energy wasn't there anymore.
Yes, certain songs bought some of the energy back again but it just wasn't the same. I noticed a lot of people went on bathroom breaks when the solos and new songs came on. It was as if nobody cared. The only new song that got good a decent reaction was The Blues and even that was still pretty weak. During the Fortus and Bumblefoot solos I actually heard people on multiple occasions yell out, 'you suck!'.
By the time IRS came along I saw people leaving in droves. NOBODY sang when Bumblefoot played Don't Cry. Night Train bought the crowd back to life but it seemed too little too late. My girlfriend asked me if I wanted to stay for the encore and I said, 'might as well'. Chinese Democracy came on with little reaction but Paradise City went out with a huge bang. That was the energy I was waiting for but too bad the show ended right after that.
I was disappointed. The show was no where near the greatness of the Hammerstein shows. I'll be at MSG on friday and hopefully the energy will be a whole lot better.

On a slightly diffrent note, is there anyone in the band that can actually sing?? Would it not be better to stick a cover (and drop one of the others) or something in with some vocals. EVERYONE is complaining about the solos - not just us internet "pests".

Thanks for the sig Bromle

..well i suppose after buying tickets i makes sense to hang around until the end, to get your money's worth and all that
By the sounds of things, they need to drop the solo's of make them shorter. Bumblefoot doing the Don't Cry thing is a bit bollox. Doing it as a one off as a little bit of fun is one thing, but to use it as a set piece is another matter.

about the crowd... Yeah, they were kinda lame but i think that stems from the BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!! split General Admission floor... There needed to be more unity among the GA crowd.. it totally through off the sentiment having the floor split down the middle... but people in my section were singing Don't Cry. My boyfriend and I were belting it out... and honestly, it was hard to follow what part of the song he was in sometimes...
I guess I could personally never find something bad about GNR... I know I should be more critical but no matter what they do I seem to love it... I had strep throat, a nasty cold, a stomach ache, a cold soar, aching muscles and I was robbed of being in the front row after sitting in the freezing Jersey Cold for 4 1/2 hours(I am from California... parden me but I didnt know the temperature went under 40 degree..lol) and I still think everything was perfect and amazing...
Despite everything, I was in tears for a large amount of the time...happy ones... After ten years of patient waiting, who says.. eh. could have been better... GNR SHOWED UP! What more do you want?

I also noticed a change after Axl threatened to leave if shit kept getting thrown on stage, and I don't blame him for that.
The Jersey crowd sucked, whats up with that? Was everyone worried they wouldn't get up for work on time? I drove from Long Island to the show, and I doubt I will go back there again. I only went cuz I couldn't make the Garden show. The place was empty to boot. Plenty of seats to be had.....tipped me off to the kinda show I was gonna see. How could the place not sell out? It's Guns -n- Roses for Christs sake...especially after the Hammerstein reviews? Oh Well... I still was glad to be able to see them again and I love the new shit. Wish I was going to The Garden! I guarantee the reviews will be great.
P.S. just so I don't get hammered for saying Jersey crowd sucked (which they did) and I am from Long Island...Long Island crowds suck too...stick to the City for shows!

OK, that made me laugh.
For some reason, the crowd is rarely good in Jersey, with any concert I've seen there, doesn't matter the venue, except at perhaps Giants Stadium. Maybe because the majority of people who go to those shows are from NY.
I guarantee the crowd will be a lot better on Friay night at MSG.

Thats easy....its not really GNR, and Axl has yet to prove that this new band is worthy of wiping the ass of the old band. All that matters is the album.

yeah man, ron's got a great voice... how cool would it be if he sang don't cry with the band playing?
i know that guns n' roses hasn't played it in however many years, but none of these guys were around then. so, i don't think it has much bearing on the band. it would showcase bbf even better and give axl a rest. i dunno, it's a thought.
