Just woke up and I must say I was a little disappointed with the NJ show..... The opening of the GNR setlist was great. He hit WOTJ, ISO, Mr. B, LALD, etc. pretty much perfectly. The energy was great, I could hear everybody singing along I could feel them all jumping up and down..... that was until the solos....

I personally hate the solo's but we all know they need to be done. Axl needs time to rest his vocal chords and change out. That's fine but I think the solo's last night were just a little too long. By the time he came back after the second solo the energy wasn't there anymore.

Yes, certain songs bought some of the energy back again but it just wasn't the same. I noticed a lot of people went on bathroom breaks when the solos and new songs came on. It was as if nobody cared. The only new song that got good a decent reaction was The Blues and even that was still pretty weak. During the Fortus and Bumblefoot solos I actually heard people on multiple occasions yell out, 'you suck!'.

By the time IRS came along I saw people leaving in droves. NOBODY sang when Bumblefoot played Don't Cry. Night Train bought the crowd back to life but it seemed too little too late. My girlfriend asked me if I wanted to stay for the encore and I said, 'might as well'. Chinese Democracy came on with little reaction but Paradise City went out with a huge bang. That was the energy I was waiting for but too bad the show ended right after that.

I was disappointed. The show was no where near the greatness of the Hammerstein shows. I'll be at MSG on friday and hopefully the energy will be a whole lot better.

Doesn't sound promising!

On a slightly diffrent note, is there anyone in the band that can actually sing?? Would it not be better to stick a cover (and drop one of the others) or something in with some vocals. EVERYONE is complaining about the solos - not just us internet "pests".

..well i suppose after buying tickets i makes sense to hang around until the end, to get your money's worth and all that

By the sounds of things, they need to drop the solo's of make them shorter. Bumblefoot doing the Don't Cry thing is a bit bollox. Doing it as a one off as a little bit of fun is one thing, but to use it as a set piece is another matter.

I agree too many solos, but I guess Axl needs them.

Plus I like him in different outfits. <3 lol

The crowd just sucked though mostly. Eh.

I could'nt disagree more. I thought Finck solo was a showcase of his deserving to bear the name of GNR's guitarist. It was bluesy and sophisticated. Dizzy's solo was a beautiful version of Skynyrd's Tuesdays Gone, if I am correct, and it captivated me. I wanted him to keep going with it "Beautiful" was interesting but last night did not hold my attention as much as when I first saw it in San Francisco. Bumblefoot can do no wrong in my eyes. He seemed to even bring new life to an old song. He is a charismatic and unique musician. I actually missed having bass and drum solos... I understand they had a stand-in drummer but why no Stinson solo? I dont know...

about the crowd... Yeah, they were kinda lame but i think that stems from the BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!! split General Admission floor... There needed to be more unity among the GA crowd.. it totally through off the sentiment having the floor split down the middle... but people in my section were singing Don't Cry. My boyfriend and I were belting it out... and honestly, it was hard to follow what part of the song he was in sometimes...

I guess I could personally never find something bad about GNR... I know I should be more critical but no matter what they do I seem to love it... I had strep throat, a nasty cold, a stomach ache, a cold soar, aching muscles and I was robbed of being in the front row after sitting in the freezing Jersey Cold for 4 1/2 hours(I am from California... parden me but I didnt know the temperature went under 40 degree..lol) and I still think everything was perfect and amazing...

Despite everything, I was in tears for a large amount of the time...happy ones... After ten years of patient waiting, who says.. eh. could have been better... GNR SHOWED UP! What more do you want?

Gotta agree with you Kick...the solo's sucked the energy right out of the crowd! I was at all 4 Hammerstein shows, and the vibe here was completely different. Enough with the Christina Aguilera solo....it aint cuttin it. At least make the solos a little more interesting, since they gotta be done!
I also noticed a change after Axl threatened to leave if shit kept getting thrown on stage, and I don't blame him for that.
The Jersey crowd sucked, whats up with that? Was everyone worried they wouldn't get up for work on time? I drove from Long Island to the show, and I doubt I will go back there again. I only went cuz I couldn't make the Garden show. The place was empty to boot. Plenty of seats to be had.....tipped me off to the kinda show I was gonna see. How could the place not sell out? It's Guns -n- Roses for Christs sake...especially after the Hammerstein reviews? Oh Well... I still was glad to be able to see them again and I love the new shit. Wish I was going to The Garden! I guarantee the reviews will be great.
P.S. just so I don't get hammered for saying Jersey crowd sucked (which they did) and I am from Long Island...Long Island crowds suck too...stick to the City for shows!

Eh, your all just a bunch of whiny babies. The show is still the same, they have always done solos, and IMO the band is way tighter now, and the solos were much better. It was just as good as hammerstein, stop crying like a baby.

yea someone on the selist page said 90% full.....funny!...maybe 70%....highest 10 rows of every upper section were empty....at least walking around up there to find a better angle was easy......also not sure if it was axl or the sound system but i could barely hear him on alot of the lines.....i'd hear the band but not axl......hammerstein (not steen ax) was alot better...i'm sure msg will be as well.....and what's with axl's BS about tech problems delaying the show....he starts every show that late...the tickets should say nov 5th/6th.....the entire half empty row in front of me was asleep right before november rain started....i was nervous to sing along with the show as i might wake em up.....wow i'd have been pissed if i hadn't known beforehand that it'd be a 2am night....i loved finck's solo but by 1:30am or so when bumblefoot starts his solo noise it just hurt my ears....still had a great time but i worry he's scaring off the less than die hards for good with the lack of radio presence as far as new material goes, and with the late show starts

OK, that made me laugh.

For some reason, the crowd is rarely good in Jersey, with any concert I've seen there, doesn't matter the venue, except at perhaps Giants Stadium. Maybe because the majority of people who go to those shows are from NY. -_- Anyways, being on a Sunday night probably made it even worse.

I guarantee the crowd will be a lot better on Friay night at MSG.

Thats easy....its not really GNR, and Axl has yet to prove that this new band is worthy of wiping the ass of the old band. All that matters is the album.

i agree, the solo's drag the show, i would rather hear someone else sing a cover or maybe "attitude". it does suck the energy out. Also the combination of a Sunday night & well we know they go on real late that had alot to do w it. Plus Continental isnt the best place for shows. Place was empty

again, sunday night/too many solos/split ga/continental all contributed to it. i still had alot of fun, but Hammersteins wer muchhhh better, hopefully a fri night in MSG will be rockin

yeah man, ron's got a great voice... how cool would it be if he sang don't cry with the band playing?

i know that guns n' roses hasn't played it in however many years, but none of these guys were around then. so, i don't think it has much bearing on the band. it would showcase bbf even better and give axl a rest. i dunno, it's a thought.
