Doesnt anyone see that it makes alot more sense to tour the entire globe playing the songs that the world loved, and alot havent seen in many years, before you drop an album thats been so long in the making, or playing any new music. By doing this tour, Axl is surely adding alot of people to the list that will buy CD and will likely go see another tour once CD is released.
This same argument was used in 2001. It was used in 2002. Then, what a shocker, it was used in 2006.
Now its being used in 2007.
And this argument still hold. Without an album this strategy is close to the optimal by now. It´s a totally differrent issue that there is now album yet. Complain about that istead of complaining about side effects that the non released album bring us. The source of the problem is not the setlist nor the tour.

Some fans are clearly spoilt in terms of GNR live performances.

the people bitching are probably ones who have already seen the band live. This is the first concert Guns n roses have done in years, same with Australia, and people want to hear the classics, I know I do.

I agree. I think if he comes back to North America and Europe with that same set list he's just retarded. I guess we'll see what happens there. But as for the countries who haven't seen them yet, I think the current set list makes sense.

this band has to stop covering the old guns...

It's funny how Axl uses the "it's what the fans want" defense so selectively.
I mean, I totally agree that 99.9999999% of the crowd doesn't give a shit about hearing his Chinese Democracy songs.
But if Axl really gave a damn about what his fans wanted, he'd take the stage at normal hour. And Slash would be there.

I really do think that a majority of causal fans, if given their choice, would rather see the old band on stage. Or at least Slash and Axl together, as they're kinda the "face" of GNR.
You may rather see the new band, but I really do believe casual fans wouldn't. I'll bet 90% of them can't even name two members of the band anymore.

Agreed. What % of the people buying tickets do you think would come see Slash, with another lead singer, as the band Guns N Roses?

Way fewer. There's no doubt that Axl's and the band name he purchased are bigger draws than Slash.
