I am late to this thread as I’ve been off the forum a couple of days.. so I apologise if my sentiments have been echoed in here before, but..... im all for marketing the “brand” that guns n roses is. I’m all for the band making money and setting themselves up with merch and a big tour... but that’s where it ends. there is so many things wrong with this, firstly in regards to the book itself. Fernando is a leach. The absolute worst kind. Firstly if he was into helping produce a children’s book, cool, I’m all for that. Go write 300 of them. But he’s done it as a money making idea off the back of the gnr “brand”... which leads me to branding itself.. wtf does a children’s book have to do with this band? It’s dumb. It has no place during covid 19. It doesn’t sit well with me that him and his family refuse to achnowledge the fan base and try and mend bridges and provide some clarity without all the bullshit while trying to fleece the casuals. this band stopped being a band a long time ago. I like getting drunk and remiscining by watching old videos of the band and I marvel at just how great they were 86-93 and never in my life did I think this band would end up managed by a nanny and her boy who’s an arrogant little twat who holds the lifelong fans like us who sat and waited through the wilderness years in hope that something great may happen and still wait for that... only to be continuously let down with bullshit like this while the band themselves stay mute, can’t even provide a frigging update is not only embarrassing but a concerted effort to basically ignore us whilst happily trying to take our money because they know damn well a guy like me will still pay $200 a ticket just in case it’s the last time I ever see them. that’s where we are at. my advice... fuck current gnr! Fuck duff and slash for selling out and going along with this bullshit. If ever there was a cluster fuck of how to self sabotage your own career, look no further than axl rose. This guy was literally my hero! Like many of you, I live in the past of how good this band was in it’s pomp, and I only wonder what it could have gone on to be had someone with half a brain been in control of axl or the band. instead we get this crap. so fuck it lady and gents, sit back and put on one of those old vids on your computer that no longer resides on YouTube, grab a beer and just pretend none of this current shit is happening and enjoy what they were, cause it ain’t ever gonna be like that again. Rant Over

If Axl wanted to get attention on twitter, 1) he would tweet more often 2) he would tag the politicians (Mnuchin, in this case) he calls out in his tweets. Mnuchin, on the other hand, being Secretary of Treasury amidst a crisis, spent time to 1) find a tweet by a rockstar mentioning him without tagging him 2) reply to the tweet 3) delete his reply and repost it because he attached the wrong flag

Kinda seems like the kind of guy who would use the Guns N' Roses brand to dedicate a children's book to his daughter, doesn't it?

That's what I just don't get. I've been saying for at least 10 years that GNR should have had a pay streaming service for concert footage since they have TONS of it they never use. They never got around to that and now they're like 2 months into a worldwide quarantine and just now thinking about getting around to "looking very seriously with regard to" hitting upload on some videos lol.

Download Festival 2018: Slither, Rocket Queen, You Could Be Mine, Attitude, Sweet Child O' Mine Salt Lake City 2019: It's So Easy, Chinese Democracy and Double Talkin' Jive ---------------------------------------------------------- Just so it doesn't get lost in the General Musings thread or something, I thought this deserved its own thread. Fernando is posting on Reddit again: If they actually do post old shows on youtube, I'll add all the links to this post. Hopefully this works out and we get to see some cool stuff.

Mnuchin better watch his ass cause Axl has connections. Namely "the president, a private eye, the IRS, and the FBI"

It's not just about the book. They could have released it in 2 weeks or so after they cleared everything up about the tour. It's just the worst possible timing for releasing a book because they show the fans, that they don't care about them and don't want to provide them with much needed information, but instead they wanna make a quick and easy buck by putting out a fucking book They should get their priorities straight

I think the worst part about this is that this is the same band that once played a bowling alley with DJ Ashba and a useless keyboardist waving a towel. How did it actually get worse?

Introducing the GNR sex doll, because you got nothin better to do when youre bored! you can leave it lying on the bed or bury it right in your back yard! comes with panties around the knees, just add your own debris for the ass! you will LOVE the cocaine tongue! you can call it crazy all you want, it doesnt need your love! several upgrades available: unreleased version comes with a pussy filled with maggots! (only sold out of Tom Zutats locker) Paradise city version is fat with big titties! My mother version, is no longer available because it's just a cunt now. One in a million version: (not available in urban areas) yup, I definitely put too much thought into this (thanks quarantine). but you have to admit the sex doll makes much more sense than a kids book based on the bands past.

Titled "Sweet Child O' Mine" and to be released this September. No, this is not a joke. Quotes from James Patterson (the author) and Fernando himself both in the link below. https://people.com/parents/guns-n-roses-childrens-book-sweet-child-o-mine-exclusive/ Updated with the tweet from the official account promoting the book:

Couldn’t disagree more strongly. Good journalism is more important than ever, especially in an age when too many live in their own echo chambers (Fox News, FB, Twitter) and an administration that perpetually lies (too many examples in the last 2-3 months to even site) and is plainly incompetent. NYT, Washington Post, and WSJ, among others, are doing a fantastic job. Note I am not referring to Opinion sections, which are just that and of course have their own politically leanings. Yes, you won’t see “mainstream” media praise Trump because there isn’t anything to praise. This is a man who needs his ass kissed to even bother doing his job. A man who said he preferred to leave Americans on a boat plagued with this virus because he wanted to keep the numbers down. A man who doesn’t want testing availability for you and me because the numbers will make “us” look bad (his words from yesterday, not mine) Pretty sure I saw universal praise for GW Bush’s unity video from last weekend. People are starved for leadership. The only person that had an issue with Bush’s video was Trump. He’s still sore Bush was chosen for McCain’s eulogy and Trump wasn’t welcome. But Trump likes his veterans who weren’t captured... Thank God for real journalists who are exposing and combating the lies

Why does any and everyone that likes Trump ALWAYS reference the 'media' as some sort of big enemy? Is it because Trump always does? I'm not sure they know what they're talking about really, like they think 'the media' all sits in one little room and has meetings. Or they maybe think 'the media' is one big company, rather than a catch-all word used to describe the entire global communications and entertainment industries? What do they even mean by 'the media'? Is it essentially 'any newspaper, film or music outlet that disagrees with them'? You often hear 'the media' blamed when some old fading celeb gets a few crap reviews. They always start blazing on about how 'the media has an agenda to get them' and the like, when the reality is that their new film/book/album whatever is just shit.

Hahaha! Remember when he said it might be a good idea to inject yourself with disinfectant?! It's not even about 'republicans' or 'democrats' really in my view- the guy is a stone cold fucking idiot, irrelevant of political leanings. It's right there in front of people to see.

"The administration posted a link of actions taken since January..." HA! Baghdad Bob was a more trustworthy source. Remember when Trump said the coranavirus was going to go away by April because of the nice weather? Remember when the deaths would go down to zero? Fuck Trump.

The US government is most definitely responsible for its citizens. No, why do you ask? You seem to be falling into the trap of assuming that these things are an 'either/or' scenario. But youd have to explain how making one comment could possibly cover the entire topic of a pandemic. And of course that would be impossible. What it possible is to make specific comments about specific things. Such as Mnuchins call for Americans to travel the States during the pandemic. So an American spoke up about this dangerous and dumb suggestion. So... you are calling out the Mayors for doing essentially the same thing that Axl is calling Mnuchin out for? With the huge difference that there is no excuse to not know better by this point in the evolving situation.

I swear to God if they just upload shit like A4D, the London concert and so on.......
  33. 4 points
No shit. People tend to dislike musicians making political music, usually because it disagrees with their own political views. And as musicians tend to be, by their very nature, left-wing, it's usually right-wing people saying 'politics doesn't belong in music'.

Article about this twitter fight in The Washington Post https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/05/07/axl-rose-mnuchin-coronavirus/ The newspaper tried to contact a representative of Axl. But nobody was available for comment. Little The Post knew that Fernando is way too busy with some children pictures book

I think that sounds like an absolutely terrible idea. I’d like to escape into the music I enjoy, not have it be a reminder of what I can see on CNN all day everyday.

On my mobile this thread was abbreviated as "Guns N' Roses to Release Chi.." and I open it to find this
  44. 3 points
Hahaha, well done. I just compare how GNR does (or doesn't) do things with other legacy acts. Take Pink Floyd for example: 2 of the 5 members have passed away. The 3 that are alive barely speak and when they do, it's still insanely hostile. Yet, FOUR weeks ago they started uploading concert footage for free on their social media. The first two things they uploaded were full newly remastered and re-edited concerts from a boxed set they just released last year for $600, but they're giving that footage away now. So, that's how Floyd can do things, yet GNR is still thinking about getting around to maybe uploading something we've probably already seen lol. "No brainer" and "Team Brazil"......two terms that go together but for alllllll the wrong reasons hahaha
  45. 3 points
I’m just stating my opinion on it. It’s not even a left or right thing for me (even though I fall on the right wing side of things) - I just don’t enjoy mixing politics with music. I prefer to keep those things far apart from each other.
