https://eaglerock.lnk.to/RSSteelWheelsLive Coming out on September 25th Having not hit the road for most of the 80s, The Steel Wheels Tour was an astounding return for the Rolling Stones, not least as it was the longest tour they had by that point undertaken. It was also to be their last with Bill Wyman. Steel Wheels Live was recorded towards the end of the band’s 60-date run through the stadiums of North America, in the second half of 1989. The gate-busting ticket sales were one thing, but the stage and lighting design of The Steel Wheels Tour set the pace for superstar tours as we know them today.Special guest appearances from Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Eric Clapton and John Lee Hooker on this Atlantic City date make this an even more extraordinary document of the band’s return to touring. 1 Intro 2 Start Me Up 3 Bitch 4 Sad Sad Sad 5 Undercover Of The Night 6 Harlem Shuffle 7 Tumbling Dice 8 Miss You 9 Terrifying 10 Ruby Tuesday 11 Salt Of The Earth (featuring Axl Rose & Izzy Stradlin) 12 Rock And A Hard Place 13 Mixed Emotions 14 Honky Tonk Women 15 Midnight Rambler 16 You Can’t Always Get What You Want 17 Little Red Rooster(featuring Eric Clapton) 18 Boogie Chillen (featuring Eric Clapton & John Lee Hooker) 19 Can’t Be Seen 20 Happy 21 Paint It Black 22 2,000 Light Years From Home 23 Sympathy For The Devil 24 Gimme Shelter 25 It’s Only Rock n Roll (But I Like It) 26 Brown Sugar 27 (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction 28 Jumpin’ Jack Flash

Damn damn damn. GN'R has figured out how to get my money. The completionist inside me will not allow me to pass this up even though I don't need it at all.

So we have prime Axl Rose in Blu Ray format only in non-GNR material. Freddie Tribute is on Blu Ray, This is on Blu Ray. This is so sad.. I will buy this.

I am surprised there is any excitement about this at all.. I'll take a hard pass

Calling it now: I bet the 2020 tour was supposed to be in promotion of this, and nothing else.

Not quite the new album we were hoping for... Strangely includes SOYL too. https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/guns-n-roses-greatest-hits-to-be-released-on-vinyl-in-september/

Next one: please, somebody, for the love of god, release an AC/DC Rock or Bust B-R including a song or two with the Ax man! I mean, have you seen it? Jeez!!!

Also just realized that with the inclusion of SOYL and Frank all but confirming that he played on it, that means we now have a Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits album with Frank Ferrer on it. Even as a Frank fan I truly never thought we'd live to see the day.

That's awesome. Axl was untouchable vocally around then, and that performance was especially good.

Fair fucks to Steven. With all the drug related health issues he has experienced in the last 30 years, he still knows his shit and maintained it wasn't him on the kit right from the get go.

Yes, it's not in the Guitar World article, but he had said it in an interview after Live Era was released. And that wasn't the only problem in the first pressing: Slash: But, originally, we had guitars going in the wrong direction. I said, 'There's no left-handed players in this band!' I mean, it was really that green. I was looking at the picture of the Tokyo Dome in the CD sleeve, and I was going, 'I could've sworn the red tapestry was on the other side of the Dome.' But it's been a long time, so I let it go. Someone got a magnifying glass and found out that Marlboro and Coca-Cola signs were spelled backwards [laughs]. And I was like, 'I knew the blue tapestry was on my side of the stage!' Other than that, there's this picture of Axl that's the other way; someone brought to my attention that his tattoo is on the other side of his body. But the only problem I could relate to was which direction the guitar necks were going. Other than that, everything else is flyers from the old days, most of which I made. I remember poster-boarding those things all over the place when we were doing gigs, and going out and handing them out [laughs]. But the main problem on the first version of the live record was that the sequence was backwards. And when it came out-800,000 of them went out-Disc 1 was Disc 2, and Disc 2 was Disc 1. And then there was a loop on 'Paradise City,' where it just kept saying, 'Las Vegas.' [Laughs] And I found out about it when I was in Miami. I get this phone call, and I'm like, 'You're kidding me!' A one-in-a-million shot that that would ever happen, and it happens to us [laughs]. But it is a collector's item, because when they made the new one they changed the new cover around a little bit, so anybody who has the old one, hold on to it. [Player Magazine (Japan), March 2000]

I don't care at all for this. Not even a new version of a CD track or ONE brand new song makes this 100% not interesting imo.

Wooohooooo. Goddamn it. I dont want to say it but this is better than GH Vinyl. Im gonna buy this. I dont will buy the GH vinyl.

Fuck them. I finally got answer from Ticketmaster Irland, looks like I'm getting my money back for Dublin. So I'm down to only 1 ticket.

I'm 100% convinced it's new vocals. He can still do it in the studio (rock the rock) and this isn't a particularly difficult song for him to sing. And I don't think there's any samples of Steven or anything like that on it too, I think it's all Frank. He probably listened to it and they told him not to change it up too much so that people would still think it's Steven, but it's pretty obvious that it's not. No recording of Steven playing that song (studio or live) sounds like that. Why they can't just admit that it's a new recording and that they never released the supposed Mike Clink audition tape? I guess that's a question for their management

As someone young in the late 80’s and 90’s Guns N’ Roses and Arnold Schwarzenegger are two of my favorite things. Awesome picture and happy birthday!

I hear ya, trust me. I'm the first guy to say "vote with your wallet" when it comes to GN'Rs bullshit. I also already own every song on this set on vinyl. However.......I'm a total completionist. I just am. I'm not happy about it, but that's how I work lol. For example; I have all 15 Pink Floyd studio records on vinyl. Plus I have their live albums. I still bought several of their hits packages though, just to be complete. I totally realize that makes no sense, but it doesn't make sense to still be a fan of GN'R to begin with lol.

Mike Clink is due to be on the Reckless Road podcast in the future - maybe we can get some info about ‘what was actually recorded for SOYL’?
  20. 2 points
Bah! You forget the masterpiece "The Plague",
  21. 2 points
No, you're the right amount of angry. There's so many GN'R apologists out there and it's ridiculous. There is zero reason for QC issues with something like this in the first place, let alone having a picture of a guitarist backwards. As I stated before, I think picture discs are the work of Satan himself, so it won't be a concern for me but it's the overall idea of something being so wrong that's bothersome.

I agree, it's a little too late at this point. It's a cover of their own song

I read in a spanish forum that they got contacted by Matts manager or Lawyer because they did a podcast about the leaked book and got told that wasnt the finished version and they were ruining Matts reputation (lol). There is not set date for its release, take it for what its worth. Link: (its in spanish)

Great to see Frank. Best smile in GNR. Totally distracted by the cats. I kept waiting for the one that walked behind the couch to jump up from behind it. Didn't realize there was another one on the couch until it moved towards the end. I think most of the GNR folks have cats.

Interesting - I'll wait for reviews to see how the vinyl sounds. Seems like they'll be using the remastered AFD songs from the recent reissue, and if the UYI songs are remastered, that's a good indication of how far along they are with respect to the UYI reissue. Lastly, if the SI tracks are remastered, maybe that means they'll repress/reissue that album, as well. I just picked up an original European press of SI and it sounds ridiculously good, so that album probably doesn't need a remastering treatment, actually.

Same. I also firmly believe there were some vocals and guitar parts re-recorded as well...

Cool that they’re doing this! Funny that this is coming out the same day as the vinyl version of GH.

Absolutely! If Matt didn't make it up (I don't think he did), we already know Duff's opinion on Nando, don't we?

His SG collection is all over the place but according to SoloDallas his preferred year (based on usage and photos) is 1970. Check out his website - it is a goldmine of information. https://solodallas.com/angus-young-guitars His main black one with the half pickguard is a '67 Standard according to his tech in the Rig Rundown from a few years ago. My personal favourite is his modified 1970 Custom with the full white pickguard. I'm glad he's brought it out of retirement on the last couple of tours. I've debated about it on my SG but also don't want to add holes.

I think we found the best and most effective way to get some of our Gn'R questions answered: you read their body language, you analyze their face expressions, you cross reference information from the database and consult other people's opinions and then you can easily interpret it well enough to come to the conclusion that yes, Frank was, in fact, probably involved in the reworking of Shadow Of Your Love when it came to his own instrument, at least to some extent.

Fot those who don’t want to watch: 1. New Music? Covid-19-excuse. 2. Have you re-recorded drums for Shadow of your love (and others)? Long smirking and then: „Its a question for the management“ ,,, means h did.

Has anyone else been following Ron's "Jam along" social media thing to this song? Basically anyone's free to record their own version of the solo and share it, it's been really interesting hearing so many different takes on it on instruments ranging from fretless guitars to ukuleles. I think this one has been one of my favourites so far.

Don't forget to give him the lyrics to Pretty Tied Up, Back Off Bitch or My Michelle. 8 is a good age to get him into that sort of thing.
