7 minutes ago, Sekh-met said:yes that! And everytime I see photos from inside Axls house I don't know where to look first there is just so much going on! Cleaning that house must be such a pain!
On the other hand it does have character.
and more like a Daxl moment than Slaxl"So much going on" is a good way to put it.
And yeah, I noticed and fixed it already Too much Slaxl on my brain apparently
4 minutes ago, Rocketqueen76 said:And the gingersnap is actually wearing his glasses...how adorable lol. And yeah I agree about the shoes, I only wear shoes to walk out of the house once I'm inside they come right off...and I wish a mutha lova would put their dirty ass shoes on my couch, the ghetto will come out in me real quick LOL.
Is he? I thought it was just the light reflecting in his eyes, but hard to tell.
I wouldn't mind if Axl wore glasses more often. He always looked cute to me on the rare occasions he wore them.
1 minute ago, MillionsOfSpiders said:I said it before I know, but I find it so strange how normal Axl's house is compared to how abnormal a person he appears to be!
He has so much cool stuff in his house and out of all of the pictures from inside the guys' homes, his is the one I would say looks most welcoming and like a proper home.
How strange.
Yeah, I agree. I remember seeing all these pictures from Slash's house and thinking "this is exactly what you'd imagine an 80s rock star's mansion to look like - trashy, dark, gloomy, porny..." I mostly blame Perla for the decor, but still, it was so clichéd and so damn ugly lol.
Axl's house looks bright and airy in comparison. And like people actually live in it. Axl's kitchen looks old and used (but friendly and normal) for example, while Slash's looked like something out of a fancy catalogue and like no one had ever touched it.

It's always such a relief to to come here after reading all the stupidity in the main section.
People thinking Nikki Sixx is "a great lad with very little ego" and an "intelligent, likable" dude. You've got to be shitting me
As @BorderlineCrazy correctly pointed out, the man has a bigger ego than everyone who ever was in GNR put together (which is saying something, considering people like Slash, Axl and Sorum have been part of this band) and is a complete and utter asshole. Makes all our favorite idiots in the band seem like sweet little choire boys by comparison.
Also, go ask his ex-wife about what a great guy he is. Or better yet, his step son. The man is a waste of space and air, just like everyone else in Mötley Crue.

Btw, I was looking for something St. Patrick's day appropriate, but then I came across this- all our favorite people chilling with Axl on his sofa. I decided to share because I know you love Andrei, @dgnr (Also who's the chick to the left of Axl? Anyone know her? Probably just a friend of Sasha's or something though...)
And I can't help but cringe at all these people wearing shoes inside the house, and even worse, having their feet on the sofa with shoes on.
Bonus cute Daxl moment (sorry @dgnr, but I just can't help but loving them in various combinations lol):

Great, discussion, guys.
I agree that GNR and Axl probably weren't perceived as particularly girly and sissy by the average public, but I think there's still a more subconscious element of misogyny there, at least in people who sort of followed the band/Axl or actually had to deal with Axl. Some random Joe who doesnt give a fuck about GNR probably just knows Axl as the "crazy, aggressive singer from that fucked up band" (because that's the picture most frequently presented in the media) and doesn't give it any further thought. But in people who are invested in the band on some level (even if it's just to hate on them and leave nasty comments on Youtube), the rate of weirdly gendered or sexually charged comments towards Axl increases dramatically in my experience. But only towards Axl. Even people who hate GNR usually don't talk like that about Slash or Duff for example.
Which is why I think whoever brought up internalised misogyny somewhere earlier is spot on. Most people suffer from some amount of internalized misogyny, homophobia, etc. and Axl has a talent for bringing these things out in full force in certain people. Likely because he defies societal norms of what it means to be a man in some ways, while Slash and Duff are both very stereotypically male in most ways that matter (Duff's a real expert on being a guy, he even wrote a book about it ).
People see Axl being emotional and sensitive > being emotional and sensitive is considered female in our society > female = weaker and bad > Axl is a pussy/sissy/fag/bitch
Axl likes ballads, piano and Elton John > ballads, piano and Elton John are for women and gays; real men like other things > female/ gay stuff = weaker and bad > Axl is a pussy/sissy/fag/bitch
Axl is naturally pretty with feminine features and even dares to dress in gender-bending, "girly" clothing > no real man looks and dresses like that (and we also don't like to feel threatened in our masculinity or sexuality by that) > therefore Axl is not a real man > Axl is a pussy/sissy/fag/bitch
Axl is irrational and people don't get him > being irrational and hard to understand is a female trait (women are mysterious after all and no one will ever be able to understand them) > having female traits as a guy is bad > Axl is a pussy/sissy/fag/bitch
And that list could go on for quite a bit longer. Point being, there are a lot of things about Axl that could potentially provoke misogynist/sexist/homophobic reactions in some people. People usually tend to forgive men for having one or maybe two attributes like that (it only makes them quirky then or shows "their softer side"), but multiple ones? Highly suspicious and threatening.
Additionally, in Axl's case, there's also a certain level of expectation placed upon him as the singer of a rock band I think. There's a sizable segment of people who expects musicians in "manly" forms of music like rock or metal to act like manly macho men, especially in a band that used to be referred to as "the most dangerous band in the world". They want to have James Hetfield types fronting their bands and not Axl Rose types. So Axl goes against what some people want and expect in that area as well, which is bound to cause negative reactions.

Since not one but two people stole my top picks for "song I like with a color in the title"
*cough* @dgnr and @killuridols *cough* and Black and Black Velvet are off the table now, @Andy14 suggested Little Red Corvette by Prince, which would be cool. If I was Duff and loved that song like he did lol. Which I don't. But it did remind me of another song with "red" in the title (in Japnese, but that counts).
I think NuGNR did this one as an instrumental during one of their Japan gigs. Or maybe it was another song by X Japan they did, but anyway:

6 hours ago, Frey said:Your post makes perfect sense. And I remember reading a post by someone else once on the forum pointing this out, which made me pay more attention.
I'm probably not as attuned or inclined to notice stuff like that as you gals are, but at times it gets so ridiculous that even I notice. Some time ago there was an article for example that talked about Axl's "ample bottom" (or backside or something), which was really WTF to me. You're kind of used to hear shit like that about, I don't know, J Lo or Beyoncé or whoever, but directed at a guy, especially an aging rock musician? Extremely strange.
But I think it goes deeper than him just having been a sex symbol. There're multiple factors contributing to this issue imo. The sex symbol thing you mentioned. But then there's also him just having been very pretty in a girly, feminine way (and he still looks very effeminate in some ways even today). Also the way he moved and performed on stage- again very feminine and seductive (? lascivious?) in a lot of ways. I don't really know how to describe it, but if you compare the way Axl acted on stage to the way the average frontman of a rock or metal band acts, you'll see what I mean I guess. Then there's him always having been very emotional/open with his emotions. Him having a reputation of being irrational and diva-like. And even him painting himself into a victim in a way with all that talk about people raping him/trying to rape him/fans attacking him on stage/etc.
Rightfully or not, being sexy, being pretty, moving in lascivious ways, being emotional, irrational, diva-like and being a victim of sexual assault/sexual harrassment are all things that are, consciously or subconsciously, perceived as female by most people. And I think that perception by the general public is what leads to Axl getting treated the same way female celebrities usually get treated. He's essentially coded as female in a lot of people's minds.
(And I'll shut up now, because I'm starting to sound like a gender studies scholar and I only ever took like one class of that in college so I'm basically talking out of my ass lol. But it is interesting that a guy like Axl, who used to be so misogynist is in many ways a victim of misogyny and sexism himself.)
It does reach ridiculous levels sometimes. I remember reading comments like "His own fault for prancing around like that on stage" or "His own fault for wearing nothing but..." in response to videos about fans attacking Axl or discussions about the various stories Axl told about his past. I mean think about it, that's literally the awful "It's her fault she got raped because she was dressed like a slut" argument that gets thrown at women all the time. I've seen other men get criticism or derision about their looks (though nothing comparable to what women have to deal with on a day by day basis), but Axl is the only guy I have ever heard that particular disgusting line thrown at.
Also @killuridols, it might be different in South America, but over here I do get the impression that people perceive Axl as kinda gay or effeminate (if they know who he is at all). I mentioned this during the early days of the old thread once already, but I had people (ACDC fans) asking me if Axl was gay. And another guy asking me if he's still wearing skirts (in a way that sounded very much like "is he still dressing like a fag or has he learned to dress normally by now?").
I also remember reading an article in an Austrian newspaper about Axl fronting ACDC and about 80% of the comments below were in some way making fun of him for being girly. Lots of comments along the lines of "Why did they put a picture of a grandma/some strange lady with this article" or "So [famous female Austrian politician] is fronting ACDC now? Well that's certainly a big career change!"
As @Frey said, Axl himself was aware of being perceived as effeminate, as the tattoo quote shows. Or those stories about him getting hit on by police officers and other men because they thought he was a girl. It probably bothered him a great deal, since he was a confused kid and very insecure in his masculinity, which led to all the over the top macho bravado.
I'll go a step further even and say it's not just the public (and Axl himself), but also the other guys in GNR (at least in the past).
"Izzy, have you ever worked with female singers? - Yeah, Axl (laughs)".
Stuff like that. Or Slash/Duff/Izzy/Steven complaining about Axl's "bitching" or Axl being a "bitch". Even Slash commenting that Axl was the only one who looked good glammed up shows he was aware of Axl being somewhat androgynous. Not to mention all the whining and ridicule that came from guys like Slash or Matt Sorum regarding Axl's ballads and piano playing (girly, unmanly shit, yo).
On a surface level, that's all just jokes and guy talk, yeah, but if you go deeper than that it's indicative of a greater societal problem. If you're perceived as female in any way (for the reasons Frey mentioned for example), you'll immediately get treated as lesser and not be taken as seriously. You can see it on the forum too- if Axl complains or is upset about something, he's bitching or being a pussy. If Slash/Duff/Izzy/Steven do the same thing, they're "justified in their complaints" or "telling it like it is".
Since Axl has a history of being sexist and misogynist, it doesn't bother me too greatly that he gets to taste a bit of his own medicine so to speak (though I don't think he really deserves it anymore these days), but speaking from a more general feminist point of view, this whole thing bothers me a great deal.

Heated debate I see I'm too tired to get involved in this, but I agree with @Blackstar, @killuridols and @Frey. Shit like this is never as simple and straight-forward as some people like to think and I also think we haven't even heard half of Axl and his various issues yet.

23 hours ago, MillionsOfSpiders said:Just out of curiosity, why is it everyone assumes Axl is happy nowadays and hes in a much better place?
Is it because we are getting mostly what we want out of him? Slash is back, he's turning up on time, no walk offs, no hissy fits, no yelling at the crew, no snidey remarks, no riots???
He seems to have become even more reclusive off stage, at least in my opinion he has. I thought for sure he at least would want to go to the F1 day trip and where's all the "Axl out partying all night" stories There's normally a fair few of them from each tour leg, but the last few months as far as we know he literally lives in his hotel room when not on stage or travelling.
Isn't that a bit worrying?
I agree, I'm not convinced either. His improved behavior might just be a result of medication he is taking now (he did seem kind of medicated and off somehow in that interview with Duff). Or because it appears Slash and Duff have him by the balls, legally speaking.
The always staying in his hotel room thing worries me too. @killuridols mentioned him not leaving his hotel in Buenos Aires for an entire week, and I think I've also mentioned this before, but I know he did the same thing in Vienna (5 days, but still). It's just baffling. And it's not just a case of no pictures being taken of him during that time, I know for a fact he never went out except to go to the show. And yeah, like @sanity_lost lost said, he's seen a lot of these places before once or twice, but that still doesn't mean there's nothing to do anymore. Going out for a walk or to eat, or to go shopping or something is always an option in most places. So many great cities, so much stuff to do and to see and he just stays in his room for days and... sleeps? Watches netflix? While other people are out and about, enjoying life. Sounds unhealthy and reminds me of the times when I was severly depressed.
So part of me is waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak. I will not be surprised at all if he has some kind of meltdown or a good old temper tantrum in the near future.
----------
Also for those interested in Erin- apparently Erin has both a new instagram account and a new boyfriend now.
And I saw a pic of Slash with his arm around Erin's oldest kid (who's a handsome young man now). So weird. Wonder what was going on in his head. "This could be/should be Axl's kid"? Well, that's what popped into my mind at least when I saw that

Hah! Just when I decide to check up on the thread again.
Axl's hair... I think he used to straigthen it and it's also a different texture now due to age and hormonal changes. These things mess with most people's hair. He could do better if he tried though.
As for the guys...I think things are going fine between the guys. They're probably never gonna sleep in the same bed again, but they can have a nice, mature friendship probably.
Speaking of, I came across this on Tumblr. That's from Susan's camera. Look at her camera roll at the bottom of the picture-
that's Axl on the second one (probably on the plane or a train or something). It's not much, but it's at least some proof of Axl hanging out and doing stuff with Sluff and even their families.

Sometimes people forget that Axl really is a charming person. That he isn't only the late, mic throwing, punching people persona. Of course he has his other sides too, the more difficult to get along with sides, but that isn't all that there is to him. He can charm the socks off of a lot of people. People who have met or worked with him often say he is not what you would expect from his reputation. That he is funny, kind, engaging person who is willing have long deep conversations with practical strangers. I think Kimmel was the latest person to remark on this.
21 hours ago, MillionsOfSpiders said:Do you think Angus has googled Axl? I've been wondering this, he surely must have done or someone who works for him, seeing as Axl's reputation precedes him.
You would think he'd wonder why Axl is so hated and ridiculed, by many.
What Im getting at is, when you dig into Axl's past you don't have to dig far for a hell of a lot of horrible things he's done to turn up. I wonder if Angus knows these things, and it just doesn't bother him because he genuinely seems to like Axl or maybe Axl has talked to him about them, or Angus does not know at all.
Im sure part of Angus' motive is because he wants Axl for his own band.
I saw a picture of GNR getting off the plane in Perth. Axl, Slash and Duff were getting off almost together (there was Beta and body guards too) but they obviously must've all been sat int he same part of the plane. Slash carrying his guitar, I so hope Axl's been listening to him coming up with riffs, please please
Ill wait a while for response if the Steven discussion is still going on by the time I can post this.
For what it's worth, Angus' wife did seem genuinely fond of Axl when I talked her. She even said (or rather agreed with another woman) that Axl is cute and also called him very sweet and a pleasure to work with. And that he's very funny and good at making people laugh. I guess it all comes down to what @sanity_lost said: Axl can be very charmig and lovable if you catch him on a good day (or even a good couple of weeks and months). I think the Youngs have mostly (or only) seen Axl's best side and nothing else yet, and they're understandably charmed. It's hard not to adore him when he's like that, I'll freely admit I'm not immune either lol.

Sorry about that. I realise it's very annoying.
Apologies to anyone unhappy with the decision but I really feel a fresh thread was needed at this point. We have done similar with other very lengthy threads in the past.
It's no problem. I think a new thread is a good idea and more or less agree with your rules.
Also like the suggestions from the old thread and I'd add:
- No being mean about other people's favored ships/pairings either lol. This has caused drama before as well.
- Regarding the thread search function: I didn't figure this out myself until some time ago so I figured I'd explain in case anyone else is as dumb as me: If you click into the search bar, a drop down menu to the left of it appears. Select "This topic" and search for the key word you're interested in.
3 hours ago, Frey said:Suggestions on how to deal with this:
- Didn't we use to have a "no off-topic" rule? Can we please stick to that a bit more closely again?
- Make sure your posts contains more than just "I agree", "Out of likes" etc. These kinds of posts just spam the thread and clutter it up.
- If you want to reply to more than one person, do it in one post instead of making multiple posts (> multi-quote function).
- Using the thread search function. You can search this thread specifically for certain key words and it will usually lead you to see if something has been discussed before.
- I can't think of a solution about the pictures issue. Unfortunately we're not all on the same level of "GNR knowledge" (man, that sounds douchey), some people just don't know which topics have been discussed before and which pictures have been posted a million times. You can search the thread for certain topics, but with pictures... I guess a good rule of thumb is that if a picture is old and can be found all over the Internet, Instagram etc. it has probably been posted a million times before.
- If you can or have time, read some older parts of the thread and you'll get a better idea of what has been discussed and posted before a lot and what hasn't.
- Maybe it might also be a good idea to make a new thread specifically for chit chat that isn't strictly GNR-related? If there is a need for that, people could just take all their personal discussions and random thoughts there.
So anyway... a lot of what I was going to say is obsolete now, but yeah, I agree about the -now old- thread having become a a bit of a mess and hard to follow. A fresh start really might be a good idea And now that hopefully everyone is a bit more aware of our unwritten rules (some of which are actually written down now lol), maybe we can all try to adhere to them a bit more from now on to keep with the "original spirit" (as someone called it) of the thread, which really wasn't intended as a random chat thread, but as a place to focus on GNR-related discussion and to share your contributions.
(But if someone wants to make a Random Chat thread just for women in Anything Goes or something, I'd totally support it. I understand the need to have a space for girl talk, even when it's not GNR-related )
Also wanted to comment on this:
3 hours ago, BorderlineCrazy said:So, can someone come up with an interesting subject to start a conversation instead of going on with this argument? Especially one of the "originals" who know what things haven't been discussed that much.
Let's make this thread great again, right?
There've been plenty of times in the past where the thread moved slow or even not at all for a couple of days. Discussions in the thread always just evolved naturally, if someone had something GNR related they wanted to discuss or share, or influenced by real life events. And I think that's fine. I'd rather the thread moves a bit slow at times than have pages and pages of insubstantial stuff every day. Quality over quantity, basically. So I don't feel we should force discussions, but anyone's welcome to make suggestions and things either take off from there or they don't.

Thanks I do try to share mostly new or high quality pics. I recommend Tumblr or magazine articles for finding newer stuff, if anyone wants to know. The people on Instagram usually just repost stuff from Tumblr in crappy quality and with half of the picture cut away.

They all look pretty cool, but Axl in this picture is just
He looks so young there, such a baby still and his hair! Like a fluffy ginger kitten. I could just eat him up there because he's adorable.
Must have been taken the same night as another favorite picture of mine:
This one's also from the same shoot:
Apart from all of them being cuties, there's also some Slaxl and Daxl going on in these lol.
Bonus random other new pic I also came across because I love girly, glammy Axl:

Happy Birthday and all the best to my favorite bass player on the entire planet!
Who's not only a great bass player, but also a talented writer, an inspirational human being and an all-around great guy.
I'm so glad you're in this band and I can't wait to see you and the rest of the guys in Vienna and Munich this summer.
Thank you for everything and lots of love to you and your family.

(Where's Izzy? Is he the cat? the neighbour, the brother?!) Slaxl holding hands, Avocados and the dog! it is just lovely. Only: who is Debbie Downer (apart from Izzy?)
Yes, please do, Lumikki.
But where would I put Melissa in that picture? Into Grumpy Izzy's house?
The picture is based on the discussion going on in the thread at the time, which I think was started by Duff going to watch Axl play with AC/DC and being all proud and Dad-like afterwards, posting "Go, Axl, go!" on Twitter (hence the flag). Some people said that Duff was such a good dad and then people discussed what roles other people from the Guns camp have, and someone said Izzy was a Debbie Downer (among other things, that's why Izzy's in the picture so often lol).

We named Lumikki our princess after this, and maybe that's why she leftI just posted here two days ago or so And I get the feeling @Andy14 will be more active again from now on too

Happy birthday, Axl! I hope you have a great one and I wish you all the happiness in the world.
I discovered GNR around 2006 or so when I was still a kid and it was my introduction to rock music (and lots of other kinds of music in general), so thanks for that. But all these years later Guns is still my favorite band and you're still my favorite singer and performer. I get the feeling that's not going to change any time soon
Lots of love to you from Austria, and I'm looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the guys in Europe this summer!
PS: Love your taco cat shirt, it's awesome.

I can't quite understand what Duff is saying, but I like when we see little glimpses of them offstage.
I didn't get a word he said either.
I think he talked more coherently when he was a coked up drunkard
LOL Don't make fun of him when he's trying so hard to speak Japanese
@SerenityScorp is right, he's saying "Ohayou gozaimasu", which simply means "Good morning".
I have to say, I always think it's really cute when they're trying to speak foreign languages.

Regardless of the insults, accusations blah, blah blah these two have been through, sitting down having dinner, the first few times spending sometime together I wonder what was going off in there heads, what impressions did they form of each other.
The early bonds and history between them all are perhaps enough to carry a friendship but as adults meeting for the first time, do you suppose they would like each other?
I'm probably not explaining myself very well, It's like when you into a rekindle a friendship with a person you lost contact with for many years, are they the person you thought they would be or has life changed them. It happened to me a couple of months back an old college friend who has moved back into the area after divorce, she has changed completely (or maybe it's me) very odd experience.
No, I totally get what you mean. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall during that first dinner at Axl's house.
I wonder if Slash was impressed by seeing how mature and stable (well, sort of at least) Axl has become or if he felt weirded out by the way Axl lives or if he maybe even felt pity for him. And I wonder if spending some time again with Slash helped Axl see that Slash still has his soul and isn't cancer or the devil himself either. Or if he was just really glad and happy to finally have Slash around him again, because no one can tell me Axl didn't miss him or long for their good times in the past (hell, Axl is a guy who very much seems to live in the past anyway and he could never stop talking about Slash either all these years).

Anyway, there was some talk about "low pants pictures". This is my favorite low, or more accurately, no pants picture of Axl. I love the expression on his face.

As for what Tom Zutaut said, I doubt it has anything to do. The story itself is incompatible with Axl's behavior for a period, when he thought that he could reconcile with his stepfather and be best friends with him; it's explicable if he was trying to find excuses for his stepdad for beating him and being oppressive (that he was doing it for Axl's own good etc), but not for sexually abusing him. There's the possibility of another buried memory, but then he couldn't have talked to Slash about it. There is also something else in the story that seems strange: the place where it supposedly happened (Zutaut said it was in the airport toilets, didn't he?). As far as it's known, Axl's family didn't travel outside Indiana; I think his stepfather was from somewhere else (Ohio?), but it doesn't seem that they went there to visit relatives or relatives were visiting them.
Anyway, regardless of what story Axl had told Slash and how long Slash knew, and even of whether the story was true, what matters is that Axl believed it and he was very sensitive about it, so Slash should have it in mind when he decided to play with MJ.
No, he didn't say airport, he said air force museum, so them not travelling probably doesn't matter.
Here's what Axl said according to Zutuat:
(I'll put in under a spoiler tag because this stuff is pretty disturbing):
"I know I've said no... but I wanna do this Rolling Stone interview and expose my stepfather for the monster he is and was. You know, he used to take me to an airforce museum and rape me in the toilets there. In the toilet stalls. You know, my mom wouldn't believe me and I used to get beaten for making up lies. I wanna use Rolling Stone because they've been bugging me to do this interview for so long, but I don't want them to put a white-wash on the story, I want it to come out as ugly and harsh as it is," because it was happening to his sister as well and he said "If even one kid reads this interview and it spares them this pain, I wanna help them."
There are a couple of things that get me about what Zutaut said in that documentary:
1) This would be a really, really sick thing to make up and lie about (and it's still pretty fucked up for him to just chat about this in a shitty documentary).
2) He's clearly not just confusing his stepfather with his biological father and that whole incident, because Zutaut's telling a completely different story than the one Axl told about his biological father (which was a horrible situation that happened once when Axl was a baby). Yet Zutaut talks about something that happened multiple times ("used to...") and Axl was clearly not a baby anymore if he was able to tell his mom.
3) The details in Zutaut's story. If he were to hypothetically lie and just make up a sick story like that for some fucked up reason, it's unlikely he would come up with specific little details like "air force museum". That's not really something that would just pop into your head if you you were making something up usually.
4) The "My mom wouldn't believe me and I used to get beaten for making up 'lies'" bit. His mom was perfectly aware of her husband beating her children according to Axl, so what was it that she wouldn't believe? If she knew about the physical abuse (and even participated in it, judging by the things Axl has said), then there's not much left that could be disturbing enough for her to react with denial. Not to mention the fact that mothers refusing to believe their children and choosing their husbands/partners over them is something that happens pretty frequently.
5) Zutaut saying it was "happening to his sister as well". We know that Axl's stepdad was sexually abusing his sister, so Zutaut's not wrong about that and seems to know the basic facts at least.
I'm really not sure what to think. It goes against everything we know and Axl has never said anything like that himself. But looking at it this way, I can't rule it out completely. I've been kind of baffled and disturbed by this ever since I watched that BBC documentary and now that I've thought it through I see why.
About that audio interview... I think it's been posted once before in this thread, but it rarely gets brought up, so thanks for posting it again. It's an interesting interview. But I don't necessarily agree that Axl naively saying "my daddy is my best friend now" can be counted as concrete proof of his stepfather not abusing him in that way. I came across cases of rape/sexual abuse victims forgiving/trying to forgive their abusers (or even deluding themselves into thinking they could be a happy family or have a healthy relationship again) more than a couple of times during the course of a former job I had. I will never forget the young woman who basically told me things are fine between her and her father now, because her father was just going through a difficult time when the assaults happened and he promised her he would never do that again I'll fully admit my perception is probably a bit coloured by these experiences, but yeah, Axl's short-lived attempt at building a relationship with his stepfather again doesn't necessarily indicate all that much to me.
You know these points are very true and I've had similar thoughts ever since I saw that disturbing documentary.
On the other hand, Zutaut does seem to have a "fondness" for telling shocking/scandalous stories, as we've noted before in this thread so I don't completely trust him as a source.
The only other thing I can think of that supports his claims is Beta saying Axl was sexually abused by his stepfather in one of these weird interviews she gave in the early 2000s. But these interviews are a highly questionable source as well, horrible translations and some people even doubt they're real. And while you'd think Beta (of all people) would know something like this, she does come across as kind of confused and struggling with language barriers a lot of the time in her posts and messages, so who knows.
Assuming Zutaut's claims are true, I can understand why Axl didn't go public with that particular part of his past though. Emotionally speaking, there's a difference (at least to me, if I try to put myself in Axl's place) between something that happened when you were a baby and that you don't even really have conscious memories of, compared to something that happened to you much more recently, and which you have tons of traumatic, relatively fresh and raw memories of. I'd have a lot of trouble talking about the latter too, while I could see myself talking about something that happened when I was a small child much more easily.
It's interesting though that Axl apparently changed his mind about what he was going to tell Rolling Stone. Assuming Zutaut's claims are true again, it sounds like he wanted to go public with something more along the lines of Zutaut's story, but we got a different, slightly less horrifying version in the 1992 interview.

I don't know, it made me sad too, it reminded me that Slash's addiction must have taken a toll on Axl but i find it interesting how he only talks about Slash, in Axl's mind Duff didn't need him to keep an eye on him?
We joked how when Axl wanted to buy the famous house with Slash, Slash chickened out because he didn't want Axl to nag him, i guess we were right
That "look after Slash" part made me smile. I've always thought that Slash's drug use was a giant source of worry and anxiety for Axl (his reactions to it were a bit shitty at times, but his actions always seemed to mostly stem from a place of desperation and fear for Slash's life).
As for Duff, as someone has said, his drinking wasn't that bad yet during that time and Axl probably didn't perceive Duff drinking alcohol to be as dangerous or threatening as Slash's heroin habit, like most people.
You know, I think the house thing might have been in part at least an attempt by Axl to have some control over Slash and his drug use. To "look after Slash",as he puts it, in the most effective manner he could think of. But yeah, Slash wasn't having it.

How have I never seen Perla's list of lame Slash excuses before? Omg Thanks for posting @MillionsOfSpiders!
Speaking of Slash, here's the rest of the old articles I came across translated. Some of these questions are just
I didn't translate all of it. There's a lot of talk about how he met Renee and how he broke up with her and how he cheated on her, but how he doesn't cheat anymore now (yeah, right). If anyone really wants to know about all that I can translate it, but I didn't think it was that interesting. And apparently Slash likes cool, tough girls with personality, because he can't stand weepy chicks (or whiny bitches? hard to tell from the translation what his original words were)
Did you ever share a groupie with Axl:
No, we're not into that kind of thing. Each one of us has his private sphere. (Riiiiight. We've only got multiple people (including Axl himself) and pictures telling a different story)How did you meet Axl?
Through an ad in a magzine looking for musicians.... (then there's some talk about him going on a safari in Kenya with Renee after the tour)...
Would you shoot at animals:
No, of course not. It's horrible what ivory and trophy hunters are doing there. I just hope security in national parks will finally be taken seriously. Are you against animal testing?
Yes, of course. What's the point of torturing animals? That's horrible.Have you ever been made fun of for being mixed-race?
No, never . The only problem in school was my long hair and the fact that I sold drugs (I guess that's what they mean there?) for the highest price.Did you ever want to be white like your buddy Michael Jackson?
Oh no. I don't know what's going on in his head, but I feel pretty comfortable in my skin.Did you have a cool childhood?
Yes, my parents left me all the freedom in the world, but at the same time they also taught me solid morals and values.... Some talk about his drug and alcohol consume. He says he smokes two packs of cigarettes a day, he denies drinking two bottles of JD a day, he thinks AA group therapy is pretty pointless, says he nearly ended up in prison for a long time because of his substance abuse issues and woke up in hospital way too many times- and it was all so negative for him that he doesn't want to be reminded of it any further.
There's also some talk about a girl getting a tattoo of his face on her leg, about him falling off the stage and his favorite actor is Robert De Niro.
Why did your Manchester concert get cancelled?
It was only postponed and that was because all of us were completely tired and exhausted. It had nothing to do with Axl and Stephanie.
(Isn't it sweet how he lies to protect Axl? )Do you talk to Axl about your personal problems?
Yes, I talk to Axl and Duff about them.Did Axl tell you that his father sexually abused him? (They're asking if Axl had already told him about that in the past, before he went to the media with it).
Yes, I knew about that. We've known each other forever and know each other very closely. There's so much going on around us that we simply have to talk to each other about stuff to deal with everything. We're normal guys and not machines who go on stage like robots to play.Is Axl crazy?
Oh no, no. People just don't understand him because of all these rumours. But what are you supposed to do about that? He simply says what he thinks and does what he wants. By the way, I'm not all that self-confident either. I often have moments when I question everything. I'm pretty aggressive. But I take life as it comes and live in the moment. I try to solve all problems immediately so I don't get frustrated.Would you like to have children?
Not as long as we're on tour. But yeah, I do want to have kids. I'd like to have a little girl. (I remember he originally mentioned wanting to have a daughter in his book too.)- 8

Yeah, me too.
But I'm not sure he actually is friends with him or likes him. Duff is good at getting along and playing nice with everyone, but in private he might have a quite different opinion about certain people.
Yeah, agreed. And don't remind about the whole Hanoi Rocks thing. Awful. Motley Crue never deserved the success they had, Hanoi Rocks should have gotten it.
Socks or house shoes/slippers.
Yeah, same. Axl's decor is not really my personal taste, but I like that most of the stuff he has in there seems to have meaning to him.
Taking your shoes off when you come into a house (yours or someone else's) is the norm in many European countries, and also in East Asian countries, yeah.
Guests just wear socks or you offer them slippers/house shoes/light shoes/whatever you wanna call it. People can then decide whether they want to wear the slippers you offer or just remain in their socks and walk around in those.
