  1. umm, again, no but I won't argue with you. This is all he said about this topic in that interview: Speaking of Guns, have you got anything more you can share about the new album? “There’s been no definitive answer on anything and I’ll just keep to that. Stuff is happening, but there are no specifics. More than anything, it’s because of the nature of the industry right now. It’s just like, how do you want to do this? I mean there’s material and there’s recording and there’s shit going on, but we’re not really sure what we’re doing with it right now.” The music industry in 2020 is a lot different to the last time you all made a Guns record. “Yeah! And there’s a handful people who said, ’Yeah, make a record and go old school’. And there’s a handful of people that are like, ’We don’t even know what buying a record is any more!’”
  2. no, I don't think he did but maybe I'm wrong. If it's this interview, he didn't say anything remotely close to what Pitman said. https://guitar.com/features/interviews/namm-2020-slash-gibson-collection-his-new-gibson-collection-new-guns-n-roses-album/
  3. every successful band got it's own method to achieve it's goals. Every musician is a completely different person. Axl is quite unusual when it comes to how he operates as a musician and since he is in a position of power as the band's leader, it affects how/why/when Gn'R albums are released imo.
  4. so Slash said (in other words) why bother releasing an album nowdays with Gn'R?
  5. Pitman did say that, but it's not what Slash said. On the contrary, he said he wants to do it, think they will do it, but described the challenge of releasing an album with Gn'R. Perhaps a sort of explanation as to why they didn't release one yet.
  6. different bands, different rules no? can you really compare Tool to Ozzy when it comes to approach for example? it's not like every band got the same goals/priorities. I'm not trying to defend Axl here. 1 album in 29 years is ridiculous, no matter how you slice it but maybe we can read between the lines and maybe consider Slash probably said it in the context of Gn'R/Axl. Gn'R fans/Slash fans know perfectly well most musicians including Slash release albums on a regular basis I just think he meant how will Gn'R do it so it is a success. (whatever the definition of success is to Axl)
  7. Best TV Shows of the Decade

thought it was a good show but what was really annoying I thought was the overuse of music in the show. Like you watch it for a few minutes and another fuckin' song is playing instead of a dialogue taking place. Ruined it for me.
  8. The "New Album" Thread

I think Axl is more rational. Slash and Duff are back in Gn'R, why not take advantage of that, make as much money as possible and have fun and go play with Angus and only then put together an album? another victory lap before dealing with something that could be too significant to not see it as difficult so maybe Axl prefers to focus on just one thing at a time and hasn't lost his fire completely.
  9. The "New Album" Thread

Tommy said he wished Axl didn't care so much. Personally I think Axl didn't change much as a musician. He's still doing what he wants. If we don't look at it from a fan's perspective it's still possible this tour is a priority right now and when it's really over maybe it will be easier to see what's coming next

  11. but great like the stones is the greatest or like the beatles. Gn'R never claimed to be that good. Axl seemed to mock himself in the interview he did in 2016 about how the Gn'R catalog was small. I believe they could have released a full acoustic album expanding on lies and take it to a more rock n' roll based place like on Appetite letting Izzy guide it and and go for a more AC/DC-ish career but maybe a little more varied but their egos didn't allow it and different musical goals.
  12. General Chat / Random Musings

spit roast Verb: to spit roast. A sexual activity involving 3 people, two active males and one passive (male or female). Man 1 penetrates person 2 from the rear (anal or vaginal) while he/she sucks the penis of person 3.
  13. The "New Album" Thread

I think maybe it kinda shows a Gn'R release is different. Maybe bigger and comes with certain expectations. So it's more about how Axl will like to do it. Figuring out the best or right approach.
  14. he didn't want to deal with another lead singer. He wanted to share all vocal duties with Duff. I guess he was careful for a reason cause it did sour eventually. Izzy avoids that shit at all cost sometimes even the possibility of it.
  15. John Frusciante returns to RHCP

Josh wanted them to make an album in the style of The Uplift Mofo Party Plan. Not that I think they would ever go with that direction again. It's been a while since they've done a full on funk rock type album. I think Josh's time with the band was fruitful, but none of the 3 albums really took advantage of what Josh was capable of contributing. it's so much about Flea's and John's musical interaction that I'm sure that's easier to rely on and that's my favorite line up but they were in good hands and it worked, it was just different and also John's talent must bring with it a lot of advantages for the band and his name maybe will sell more tickets as well.
  16. it's not going to be the same without Izzy but are we really going to pretend a song Axl and Slash potentially worked on together and with Duff isn't going to work as a great Guns song cause some manager from 40 years ago thinks Izzy was important too? It might not have that rock n' roll Stones thing which was a big thing, Izzy wrote Nightrain but a new record could still contain enough classic elements or just be a great record like Chinese was.
  17. but will they still get stadium sized offers? how does that work? anyway, it's a shame the band or Axl are kinda taking their time with really going for it with the reunion shows. I guess I can see them not doing much in the studio in 2020 and in 2021 the band could be not active and Slash can do something else. Even if they said at least that in 2021 they're gonna enter a studio and start real work that would have been at least something. Very standard thing to share for a band usually
  18. interest is already not on the same initial level. Maybe the best incentive or something fans can at least count on as a reason for Axl to truly focus on recording and/or releasing the next album
  19. John Frusciante returns to RHCP

I think they look pretty good for their age. They still sound like themselves which is cool. I've listened today to the 3 albums with Josh. I think my favorite out of those is I'm Beside You. It contains 2 brilliant songs, 1 is Josh's favorite with them I've read (Never Is A Long Time) and the other is Pink As Floyd. I wish they gave Josh more creative control. He's a well rounded musician that could have maybe even transformed their sound if given a lot of musical freedom so also like a producer/engineer role. They have done this with John. But the band tried to push themselves with every release since 2009. There's even a tune on I'm Beside You with a great rhythmic riff that Josh came up with.
  20. Jesus Rolls (2020) Lebowski spin off

wow not going to bother watching this shit. This actor can be in a much better film. It's sad when they're not even trying sometimes. If you're not going to do something original than it must be at least really cool imo
  21. I appreciate those vocals from a technical standpoint and the emotion is there too, but idk, it's too much for what the song required imo. Less dynamics compared to the official version, it's mostly full on and it feels like it's too aggressive.
  22. The "New Album" Thread

maybe they'll do kinda what Metallica did with Hardwired To Self Destruct and take a few years with recording sometimes but also sometimes doing nothing or touring but they'll record when they can and maybe complete and release a double album like that. I wish they had dedicated 2020 for just writing and recording the next album. No doubt in my mind that Slash will release another Conspirators album with Myles before Axl even talks about doing something serious.
  23. the solo is still one of Slash's best imo. It's just overplayed and there are much better Gn'R tunes but still a great song. They will never play a full show without doing it. The casuals will riot. It must be at least mostly nostalgic cause that is what this brand is selling.
  24. I was talking about the last 4 years. Reunion years. I see your point, I just mean this setlist was constructed for a reason: more of a something for everyone so basically more money cause more Gn'R spenders want a lot from most of the records they identify Gn'R with and some hardcore fans may get bored so they bring back a couple of UYI tracks and learn a few covers so no one can say it's not an all new show.
