Besides waiting for the GNR surprise today, I've been waiting on an update in the Love/sex/relationship thread all day, but I see I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up in that department either I guess you've sobered up too much, @Eric Cantona

I really hope we get a full video of it. I thought I remembered someone saying it was impossible to do live, and so I checked A4D, and funny, it's Slash who said it was impossible

Some people here seem unfamiliar with marketing terminology. A BMW doesn't actually give you freedom and women don't actually throw themselves at you for using AXE deodorant.
'Fans, on January 24 we're planning on giving you a little surprise, but don't hold your breath, it's nothing special, so don't get your hopes up and don't stay home for it. It might also be postponed or canceled, due to things that are out of our control.'

Anyone else enjoy The General more than Monsters?
Me. But I've barely listened to Monsters. Whenever I hear The General or even just think of the song, it's stuck in my head.

I still love the Don't Cry video. I love the running on the roof, the three Axls in therapy, absolutely love it, always have and probably always will Loved the November Rain video, but that was already a bit over the top. Estranged was plain cringe to me. Maybe because by that time I was a year older and a bit embarrassed about my being a GNR fan by then. I have never liked the Estranged video and it seemed out of place and out of time.
Tbh, I'm happy they even consider making videos nowadays. You can't compare now with then. We watched videos all day, I had tapes and tapes of MTV videoclips etc. Those days are over. And I can't imagine Axl, Slash and Duff acting in a videoclip nowadays Just imagine, Axl, Beta, Fernando, Vanessa and the kids sitting at the table having lunch, or splashing by the pool, while Slash and Duff drop by with their wives.
Back then it was a thing to do, so even if it was over the top, it was alright imo (although like I said, Estranged has always made me feel uncomfortable). But now? I would think their only option would be something like a cartoon or whatever, or have a video with live footage, behind the scenes or on stage.

Nice that they're doing something. I don't like Creative Works, so that's too bad for me. But I do appreciate they come out with something.

Some years ago I was sure Axl and Beta were actually married, with maybe her allowing Axl to have flings or whatever with other women. Which could explain for the 18 year old girl whose ass he was grabbing some ten years ago (I think?). But I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me at least.
And even if they're married, I've never heard of Beta pushing female fans away. On the contrary, I've heard of a few fans (male and female) who got to meet Axl thanks to Beta. (Just meeting him btw, no romantic/sexual meetings.) So whatever it is, I don't think she's the jealous or insecure type

It's really odd to me, because you seem to be a person who's always nice and wouldn't antagonize anyone. Then again, I only know you on the forum, of course. It's a bit funny, because more people are assholes on the forum and sweethearts in real life. Maybe with @Eric Cantona it's the other way around

EATMYSILKWORMS NEWSLETTER(HAPPY NEW YEARS)Wow! What a year 2006 was for Pitmaniacs, worldwide! Mother Goose blazed a trail across US and Europe, playing some of the biggest shows of his career.
It was also a hell of a year for EAT MY SILKWORMS, the web’s first and only Chris Pitman fan site. We went from a humble little website with crappy graphics and no hits to a humble little website with crappy graphics and over 12,000 hits from over 6,500 different computers!- 5

There used to be a gun dealer in the center of my city. Until an 18 year old bought a gun there, got out of the store and shot and killed a two year old girl and her nanny and wounded a woman sitting on a bench.
No more gun shops since then.

It is considered one of the nicest cities in south Germany, with a very well preserved old city and a nice castle on the hill above. It is a university city which is vibrant and with lots of nice restaurants, pubs and cafes. It is also small enough to walk everywhere. And the surrounding region has lots of nice wineries, castles and nature.
I'm sure it's great and worth the visit, it just seemed random to me that someone from Detroit (I think) would be interested in just that particular city.

Thanks. Glad I'm not the only one I have been thinking lately that Germany is a country I have barely visited at all, even if it's closeby (some of it is anyway). I seem to always end up in the Netherlands or France if I'm going for a short holiday abroad.

That seems random 😁 It's only a five hours drive from here and I don't think anyone I know's been there.
Why Heidelberg?

I don't believe EvanG is 68. Oh well, I guess I'm the oldest who dares say their age. 47. I still feel better saying my birth year though. I'm at an age where I have to count before I know what age I am.

No disrespect to Beta. Yeah her promotion to now former manager was gradual. I'm sure the same was the case for Fernando. If they've acquired all this experience then it's pretty embarrassing. I'm familiar of the history of past managers. At least between say 86-99 we got a bunch of studio albums, a live album, a concert on two videos and three making of videos. What have we gotten from TB's era of management? The Chinese Democracy album, Appetite For Democracy two years after the shows and several very pricey editions of Appetite and Illusions each released a year after their actual anniversaries.
No, as I understood it, she told Axl: Me and my family will be managing everything now. If you say no, we're leaving.
Nothing gradual about it. I personally think anyone would be a better manager after all the experience they've had, even with no formal education. They seem to get everything wrong all the time.

This is getting funny. How can people be so upset about a song that they think (or force themselves to think) that anyone who likes it is forcing themselves to like it? I can't speak for everyone, but I am a mother in my forties. I'm mature enough to know what I like and what I don't like. I don't care who likes or doesn't like it. In fact, everyone could've already predicted many people would be disappointed. Because of the hype, and because GNR generally seems to be disappointing people. But that's okay, it doesn't have any impact at all on my enjoying the song.
Also, I don't like the tiedye sweatpants myself, but seriously, some people should try not to be so judgmental (it's almost Christmas after all!). Live and let live. You're not by definition a sad person if you bought the sweatpants or if you like The General. People who believe that, should grow up. Not liking The General or tiedye pants doesn't make you a superior human being.
It's just a song, it's just a band. It's a pity if you don't like it, but please don't let it have such an impact that you actually get emotional about it.

I like the morphing into band members. And I like Axl pointing his fingers to the music just before the 3 minute mark.
The AI stuff is the stuff of nightmares, I suppose.
It's nice to see a video, even if it's not really my cup of tea. I still love The General.
