  1. Request for "The circle of life" (Elton John / Lion King)

Time to inflate some lions !

The same zoo that had to let die the little giraffe (Marius) now has to let die a complete lion family

    http://www.rtlnieuws.nl/nieuws/opmerkelijk/dierentuin-denemarken-maakt-vier-leeuwen-af

Two old parent lions (14 and 16 years) and 2 very young ones (10 months) will go to the other side soon.

I wonder if Axl will pick up on that...

  2. As they often say, the memory cheats.

Axl took the stage back in the day with a scowl on his face. Examples :

Noblesville, 5.28.91 - Tells the fans that growing up around there was like being in Auchwitz. (super appropriate analogy there)

New York, 6.17.91 - "Sorry for the delay. If anyone has a problem with it, tell them to write to Geffen Rcords and tell them to get out of my ass."

Phoenix, 1.31.92 - "Maybe I was just too bummed out to get my ass out here any quicker."

Chicago, 4.9.92 - A legit 5 minute rant after the first two songs, after ordering his bandmates off the stage. (that's not a buzzkill or anything)

Indianapolis, 7.22.92 - "Like my shirt? Good. Know who put him away? Indi-fuckin-ana, that's who. Bunch of backwards ass motherfuckers trying to get themselves a name." (this was his greeting of his 'hometown crowd')

New Mexico, 8.25.92 - "How many people are here from Las Cruces? Not many. Well, how many people would admit to being from Las Cruces?" (this is his greeting after making them wait 2 hours)

This was not a happy camper.

I just knew that someone would come up with examples

  3. I was a huge fan of the old band, but I like CD as well and would love to give the 'new' band a chance. I wish they'd play more of the newer/new songs. I know there are some fans/cupcakes around that will never be satisfied (unless there is a reunion), or get their satisfaction from watching this so-called trainwreck, but a lot of the posters here would like nothing more than see Axl/GNR succeed. Sadly, I think Axl is giving the haters much more fuel than the people that (try to) remain positive.

I mean, people on here are flying out to see GNR live, so I wouldn't tell them to just bugger off because they don't like what they see.

  4. Yeah, only the first season though. It only came out with subtitles last year, I think. Breaking Bad was the same. The subtitled version took ages and then they only released the first two seasons. The other seasons were released after it became a real hype. Had to wait years for them.

    Don't know Vikings.

I just thought of 'my' first Scandinavian series: Riget/The Kingdom. Now that was something else...

  5. Why? Because it's deserved.

See the thread about short-changing fans who bought VIP packages. See the promises of new material, only for that NOT to happen. See Axl's response to GNR's induction to the R&R HOF. See the last four years of stale set lists. See the botched DVD release. See the $150 ticket prices at some of the small venue shows just so Axl doesn't have to cut his guarantee (or cut it by as much as he should).

I'd argue the setlist was changed a decent amount before this current tour. 2009-10 was the CD tour proper, and it changed quite a bit throughout 2010 (though more TWAT and Prostitute would have been nice). 2011 to early 2012 saw Civil War and Estranged come back, along with Used to Love Her, You're Crazy, Dead Flowers, Mama Kin once or twice, and Izzy was brought out for 14 Years, which was my highlight of 2012. Vegas residency was the start of Catcher replacing SOD, couple of new covers (Don't Let It Bring You Down and The Seeker). While covers instead of new songs is lame, The Seeker was really cool live. TWAT got played a few times at the residency, India got Nice Boys once.

Stretching it to justify the same setlist in 2013, but then again it was new for those markets that were played last time in 2010 (Australia, Abu Dhabi, etc.). Voice wasn't hot either, even compared to 2012, and at least in 2012 there was more energy in the raspless performances. I really thought that would be the end of the Greatest Hits Tour, though, and that everything from 2014 on would focus on a new album.

Why does South America not deserve new songs? This is almost the same setlist they got in 2011. Not only that, there is almost zero effort from Axl in the performances, that's the real killer. I wouldn't be so bummed about having paid to see the same setlist again if it was at least a decent show, but it seems like this is the Rolled Out Of Bed And Grabbed My Undersized Jacket Tour.

You can still open with CD + WTTJ + ISE, or even just WTTJ. You can still have, more like should have, SCOM + NR in the middle of the setlist. Nightrain to close main set, PC as final encore. That's all good. But there's so much room to mix up the rest in a 17+ song setlist.

The band is on form as always. But there's no effort being put in from Axl, and that's why the blame falls on Axl from people like me who were previously positive about his efforts.

This is a very fair judgment, I think. Even people who absolutely love Axl, can't help but feeling at least a bit disappointed.

  6. They are Brazilians. They are happy to be fucked up the arse by TB.

Speak for yourself, smartass. I'm fucking pissed.

Did you pay for VIP, Cosmonaut ? And can they just do that ? Because you should get what you paid for, or ask for compensation.
Yeah... I'm gettin my money back. Fuck this. Almost cancelling my flight to curitiba. Too bad I wouldn't be able to sell my concert tickets. I'm feeling like I'm being raped by Guns N' Roses. They're shitting on our heads. Killed the mood to see Guns N' Roses live.

Too bad... I hope you still have a great time though. If your expectations are so low, maybe GNR can exceed them ;)

  7. I didn't know The Bridge was Scandinavian

The language/location didn't give it away?

I haven't seen it but maybe I should give it a chance.

You should. It's one of my favorite series so far.

I'm probably picking up Tusenbröder as well. Sofia Helin is in it too, I saw. Interested in seeing more of her, didn't know her before The Bridge.

Another favorite of mine is a French series: Engrenages/The Spiral.

  8. flying around the world banging chicks in his private jet. yeah that must suck

Okay, but I thought we were talking about those annoying gigs he has to turn up to in between banging chicks.

If he doesn't like touring, if he doesn't like taking pictures with fans, doing interviews etc, why is he still doing this ?

    Money.

Sad if true. He is infinitely richer than I am, and I get to do a job that I like. Of course, I don't have to provide for a whole army of employees and extended family.

  9. Wow.

    Just. Wow.

Feel bad for anyone who purchased VIP prior to the change.

They were only announced on the 12th of March as well. 2 weeks after buying them and a few days/a week before the show, and they've been robbed. Poor people. Haven't seen anything on HTGTH about it, though.

I think Jarmo would say you're not allowed to comment, because you haven't paid for the upgrade. I'm sure the people who paid for it will be thrilled to go backstage and see the dressing rooms.

  10. I think the notion that he has more fun on stage these days because he smiles a few times is pretty damn misguided, and I'm surprised so many people here fall for it.

I don't think he's enjoying himself at all from what I can see.

I agree. It doesn't feel like he's having fun or enjoying himself. He doesn't seem... proud anymore about what he's doing. And I don't buy the whole story of him hating touring back in the day. Sure, there were rants and stuff, but there were also lots of times where he genuinely had fun, he owned the stage, he was the star. I think I would rather see that fire and enthusiasm back in him than have him singing perfect all the time actually. Back in the day, his voice was often far from perfect, but his stage presence was there. I know he had to battle his demons then, but I think he still has his demons to battle today.

If he doesn't like touring, if he doesn't like taking pictures with fans, doing interviews etc, why is he still doing this ? Sure, there are musicians that don't like to be in the spotlights all the time, and I understand that, but they make and release music. For some reason, Axl doesn't do that anymore. So why keep going on ?

  11. Yup. Already lost all enthusiasm for the show in April. If he comes to Europe with the same set and attitude, I'll respond in kind by not giving a shit about the show. Never thought I'd say this. In 2010 I wished I could go to more concerts. By Glasgow 2012 I was wondering what the fuck I was doing, but I still got something out of each of the 2012 shows. 2013 Abu Dhabi was just sad.

I hope Axl sings Happy Birthday to you in Buenos Aires just to make it up to you :)

I'll take TWAT over Happy Birthday ;) If he sings TWAT in Buenos Aires I'll be an Axolyte that even the combined forces of the Trinity of Jarmo/Ali/MSL have never seen.

Okay then: Axl, if you're reading this, please sing TWAT in Buenos Aires and dedicate it to Amir. And please start rehearsing NOW!
