  1. Awesome tune.

    Fixed. ;)

Blueprint III is going to be awesome. American Gangster was surprisingly good.

"That bloke from Oasis said I couldn't play guitar / Somebody shoulda told him I'm a fuckin' rockstar / Today is gonna be the day that I'm gonna throw it back to you" - I love it.

Blueprint 3 is going to be awesome, but the new song is a grower for me.

  2. Oasis are now gradually getting bigger and bigger after every album, even in the US. Didnt they sell out Madison Square Garden and The Holywood Bowl in a few hours last time around?

I'm sure New York and the surrounding areas have enough British people in them to fill a basketball arena. Seems plausible.

Oasis remains the soccer of music. It's boring and America still doesn't give a shit!

    This.

  3. I know there are a lot of haters out there but im looking forward to it too. For one, Bob Rock is off the project. hes not producing, nor is he playing bass. Trujillo full time and Rubin producing will make it worth a purchase.

How did you hear previews? Did you join the mission metallica thing?

I watched the 2 new songs performed live on you tube videos. i really liked the song that was like 8 minutes long. Good solo and drum work, although James' lyrics could use some work but theyve sort of gone downhill since he got sober anyways. The other new song sounded like they were trying to cover the Misfits or something. Weird, but still definetely better than St Anger

Those won;t be on the album though. Rob I think said that in an interview not that long ago.

It's true. Those two songs won't officially be on the album. However, various parts of the first song (the 8 minute song) will make it on the album. You can see them playing it many times on missionmetallica.com.

The first single for the album, "The Day That Never Comes" is supposed to be released mid-to-late August, so it's an exciting time to be a Metallica fan.

  5. "you know how I know you're gay?"

hahahahahahah i read the tittle of this topic and this was the FIRST thing that came up on my mind!!! " Do u know how i know ur GAY?" fuckin genious! and they ARE gay btw!

Wow. The first thing that came to your mind was something gay?

You know how I know you're gay? Because it's the first thing that came to your mind, you twit. Don't orgasm over your clever and riveting wit next time.

  6. Load is my favourite Metallica album right behind Master of Puppets. Absolutely love that effort.

I haven't seen too many metal bands that can accomplish songs in the same vein as Bleeding Me and The Outlaw Torn. The album is a perfect blend of blues, rock, and metal. Well, almost perfect.

Agreed. Load is awesome, and those two songs you mentioned are easily top-tier Metallica material. I'm also a fan of Hero of the Day, Until it Sleeps, and The House that Jack Built. Anyway, as for the other two albums...

Reload is alright. It starts strong, loses its way with mediocre songs, and then things get very interesting toward the end - Where the Wild Things Are and Low Man's Lyric are really odd, different tracks. I dig them.

St. Anger is just fucking dreadful. Musically, there are some cool ideas in there. But when the lyrics are beyond ridiculous and the song structures have been pro tooled into oblivion, there's not much to redeem the listening experience beyond "Hey, that part was kinda neat."

You capture my thoughts on Reload pretty well. Songs near the end like Where The Wild Things Are, Low Man's Lyric, and Fixxxer, really close the album well. But then you have songs like Attitude, Better Than You, or Slither which really take the album down a notch, and it's unfortunate.

Load is definitely top-tier for the most part. I think it drags a little bit. Hell, I even enjoy Ronnie from time to time, but when you have a song like The Outlaw Torn close the album, you really don't enjoy the songs before it as much. Personally, I love Wasting My Hate, Cure, Poor Twisted Me, and so on, but I can see what people wouldn't like about those.

One thing I will say is that I'm hoping the new Metallica album has a ballad on it. Metallica have a serious knack for writing ballads, even within the Load era.

And if you want to hear what Metallica's been up to, then listen to their cover of Iron Maiden's Remember Tomorrow on YouTube. They actually sound like a band again.

  7. It's not easy to get Rush to perform on American television, so I definitely have to see this.

It isn't easy to get them to do any t.v.

If they find the premise funny though...they're totally into to it.

Wicked sense of humour on those guys!

Yeah really. Definitely didn't expect anything like this.

  8. Load is my favourite Metallica album right behind Master of Puppets. Absolutely love that effort.

Reload suffers from the Illusion syndrome. It has good songs, but just isn't as strong, and if the best songs were taken from it and put onto Load, then Load would be an even bigger beast.

St. Anger has potential for great moments, but it just falls flat on its face. That being said, I love Sweet Amber and think it's a great Metallica song. Plus, the riffs are insanely good. They just need better production.

  9. Green Day... HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING GROUND BREAKING.

Their entire legacy has been copycatting underground artists, and ripping off current styles. American Idiot was their 'emo' album.

Shut up. It wasn't an emo album whatsoever. It's called a concept, and Green Day nailed it. For a band who were previously famous for making hit 2-3 minute punk songs, the album was quite a sensation.

American Idiot being groundbreaking is perhaps not the best term, but it certainly had a massive impact on hard music in the 21st Century. The fact that a group like them can make a concept album with 9-minute songs, still have massive radio hits, and go over 10x platinum with an album in the age of downloading, is something else.

  10. Jay-Z > Oasis.

I cant believe what i just read.

Just look at the guy's name, he obviously has a shit taste in music

Oasis are terribly over-rated, except for about 2 albums. However, Jay-Z was really entertaining at Glastonbury and I think most people here are just shunning him because he is a hip-hop artist.

And don't get me defending Led Zeppelin, cause I probably won't shut the fuck up for an hour or so.

I'm shunning him cause he's a BAD hip-hop artist. Get Dead Prez or Mos Def in front of me and fuck yes piss in my mouth I'll be front row, he just makes annoying ass generic music, never spat anything profound or thought provoking or even cool for that matter.

you dont have to be profound or thought provoking to be talented. his rhymes are incredible. just on a technical level he is second to none. but yeah, gimme Oasis anyway anyhow anywhere..

Jay-Z has at least 3 albums that are considered "landmark" albums in his genre.

    Can Oasis say that?

Oasis were leaders of an entire movement in music in the mid 90s...can Jay Z say that??? no, alls Jay Z can say is that he, along with Nas fill the void left by Biggie and Pac...inadequately at that..

You can lead a movement and still stink. People would say that Nirvana helped to lead a movement. I wouldn't say that, but others would, and they sure as hell aren't that good. In fact, they're a lot like Oasis. A couple hits, and a few albums worth of other songs that no one cares about because they are uninspired.

Don't even get me started on Nas. Nas = Jay-Z > Oasis.

  11. Jay-Z > Oasis.

I cant believe what i just read.

It's okay. To be honest, they're very similar artists if you think about it. Both are well-regarded for being unique within mainstream music that is saturated with both of their genres (Rap and Rock).

It's just that Jay-Z trumps anything Oasis has ever done. There's a reason they have to say that their new album "has no hits" because they're trying to reclaim an audience that they lost a while ago.

Even if Jay's rendition of Wonderwall was ass, the original is the most overplayed sap-crap rock song ever. Right up there with something Air Supply would've released.

I'm not going to debate about Zeppelin, because there were a ton of bands that could've given them a run for their money in their day. Oasis thinks they're the only band around, and they can think that all they want. Jay-Z is ignorant, but he helps a shitload of artists get off their feet and still produces pretty damn good albums. When Oasis finally admits that their shit stinks too, then maybe they'll produce good music, instead of forcing themselves to believe they are saviors.

  12. How is this a rant? I guess if you were absolutely piss-poor, then I could see the rant, but you're going to see them.

Meh, Rancid is okay at times, but they just don't make it for me most of the time.

  13. I would agree with most of that, except for Fix You. I still can't get into that song, and always skip it. Each song is great in its own way. Better than Americana? That's tough to say. When you close an album like Americana with Pay The Man, it's hard to beat that. It's definitely close, though.

  14. 11 songs that should be on that list:

    1. Frantic

    2. St. Anger

    3. Some Kind of Monster

    4. Dirty Window

    5. Invisible Kid

    6. My World

    7. Shoot Me Again

    8. Sweet Amber

    9. The Unnamed Feeling

    10. Purify

    11. All Within My Hands

    There are much worse songs.
