  1. Amazon Fires

No, it actually has not "Sky rocketed". Not from a mathematical perspective. I understand that math and statistics may not be your strong suit...and that's ok. Please understand when I tell you that from a mathematical/statistical perspective, it is well within standard deviation....especially when you can look back a few years and see close to the same numbers....I am telling you mathematical/statistical facts. (Theory) Not opinion. It's called "sample size". Us numbers guys ...when we see a stat shoot up one year...the first thing we do is look back 5 years, then 10 years, etc. That said, maybe the farmers felt they could "burn more" this year because they had a pro-business president. That could be a reason...among (literally 1000 other reasons) that the fires increased. From a math perspective, you would get destroyed in a court of law. But let's just say some of these farmers got excited since they had a "pro-business" president and burned more, So how do we control it? So i will ask you again.... How do we reduce the fires? How can we reduce the fires and let these farmers survive?
  2. El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie - October 2019 on Netflix

I like it. Pinkman is obviously the new "Anti-Hero". Who else? Netflix produced films have about a 70% success rate (of being actually really good), imo. Keeping fingers crossed, this will be among the 70%.
  3. Amazon Fires

Except the numbers don't support your agenda. NOTHING has "Skyrocketed". Not from a statistical standpoint when you look at the last few decades. That said, I really don't want to get into a political argument. The numbers from a mathematical perspective are slightly higher this year but not even close to be considered an abnormal deviation. That's the math. This is coming from a non partisan, independent person that believes the environment has INDEED been affected by mankind. So when you folks want to "cry wolf" keep in mind there are actually folks out here that don't give a damn about politics and only focus on the issue at hand. So if you want to reduce the Amazon fires, you should start with a realistic plan. Something other than "blaming the farmers because they are victims of capitalism and the West". How can we reduce the fires? How can we let these farmers continue to make a living while reducing the fires?
  4. Amazon Fires

So when it comes i to the Amazon who is anyone to criticize another country? It’s a media frenzy because some people don’t like conservatives. It should have been a media frenzy 20 years ago. I remember trying to save paper... to save the rainforest. Never heard of the fires.
  5. Amazon Fires

What do you think is a solution? What needs to be be done? What is a normal amount? If the Amazon is the world’s lungs then it should not be put all on Brazil. How much of the fire is out of control? How much is in control? Etc Fires are nature’s way of fertilizing the soil btw. If you leave it alone after it burns it will produxe fertile soil and come back better than before Brazil is a huge country. Almost as big as the US. And Brazilians are very cool people. The ones I’ve met in my life. Hard working. Very good at sales and marketing. And proud but respectful. And honest. And naturally good looking folks.
  6. Amazon Fires

Yeah except it really hasn't. Other than maybe a side article in National Geographic, it's never been a main stream media and social media story. If you don't think politics has anything to do with this becoming a worldwide media frenzy, then you're just being naive. Either that or you're that far left that you believe everything is the right's fault. Smh.
  7. Amazon Fires

The fires in the Amazon are saddening. No one likes seeing nature destroyed. That said, it's been going on for decades. But it takes a conservative president in Brasil for liberals to notice. That's about as shameful as the fires themselves. #foodforthought

Oh yeah, I know. I thought it was funny.

  10. US Politics/Elections Thread

There has not been a ‘formal investigation’ yet. Just inquiries.
  11. US Politics/Elections Thread

My initial post was meant to state that Disney has no reason to ‘cook the books’. They’re a cash cow and have been for a while. That’s all that was. So when you put 2+2 together, no reason to cook the books + disgruntled, lower level ex employee, etc.... I cry BS. That’s my ‘educated guess’ based on the situation and what I know of Disney as a company. I could be wrong but I highly doubt it.
  12. US Politics/Elections Thread

I should. In all seriousness, given her history and the fact that she’s already dropped her personal case against Disney, this won’t go far. I doubt it even becomes a formal investigation, which has yet to even happen. Does anyone really believe a huge conglomerate like Disney would allow lower level accounting employees to ‘cook the books’? Even if they tried, those books need to go through levels and levels of audits, etc. So even if she thinks she’s telling the truth, good chance it’s something she doesn’t understand in the overall accounting practices or if there were mistake made, good chance it was caught and corrected later. My best guess. We’ll find out soon enough. My money is with Disney though. (Literally).
  13. US Politics/Elections Thread

Well, now you know that’s not the case. I don’t always have time to go into detail in some of these posts. That initial post was me just calling BS on a click bait article.
  14. US Politics/Elections Thread

Try reading the complaint before laughing out loud. The lady was a disgruntled, low level, park accountant who was fired for being hostile with her co-workers. Her accusation includes something along the lines of charging guests at the parks $399 for $500 gift cards then saying they charged the guests $500. LOL. They would have to sell 60 million of these so called gift cards to come close to the ‘billions’ she’s claiming. And since her complaint was directed at the parks; that’s why I stated the parks are doing well. My statement was based on facts, not me ‘seeing’ the parks are full. I pay closer attention to what happens at Disney since it’s such a huge company that employs tens of thousands of people here in Orlando. I don’t just ‘guess’ they’re doing good because I live in Orlando. I read their annual reports, etc etc etc Also, if you paid attention to my post, I stated that Disney’s film and entertainment side was also doing well....I would know, since I own quite a bit of Disney stock. But go ahead and laugh if it makes you feel better.
  15. US Politics/Elections Thread

Bull crap. Living in Orlando, I can guarantee Disney is the one company that does not need to “inflate” its revenues. There are certain days that they need to shutdown parks because there are too many people in them. They raise ticket prices at will and still pack every park and attraction they own without blinking an eye. And that’s just the parks side of the company. The film and entertainment side does just as well as they now own most of the top grossing films in history.
  16. The Religion/Spirituality Thread

Yet, the U.S. is responsible for 90%+ of every major invention (especially technology) over the past 100+ years. (We already had this discussion and I listed them for you). Your stance against the U.S. is prejudicial. You generalize the entire population of a country based on (maybe) what 20%-30% of folks are like. (And imo, those are some of the best, honest, hardworking people I know). So even the ones you despise are actually good people. I actually like Norway as I do the rest of the Nordic countries. Sweden, Denmark, Finland...most people I've met from those countries have been pretty cool people. And the women are beautiful. But if I viewed Norway, the way you view the U.S., I could easily throw insults. I won't do that out of respect for the people of Norway because I know the vast majority of Norwegians are pretty cool people...at least the ones I've met.

There was a major shooting in Philadelphia a few days ago. 6 Police Officers were shot. Thankfully, non of them had life-threatening injuries. The gunman eventually surrendered and was arrested after a 8+ hour standoff, in which two narcotics officers were taken hostage, along with several suspects that were being detained by the narcotics officers. Mainstream media picked up the story for a few hours but by the next day, only local news were still talking about it. Why? The gunman was a felon and his guns were illegal. https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/15/us/philadelphia-shooting-thursday/index.html
  18. US Politics/Elections Thread

Yeah, more than likely, that would have been the case.
  19. US Politics/Elections Thread

Have you heard of the show ‘Man in the High Castle”? It might spike your interest. It’s about a hypothetical scenario of Germany winning the war in Europe and Japan winning the war in the Pacific. I watched the 1st season years ago, haven’t had a chance to watch other seasons yet.
  20. US Politics/Elections Thread

No, I didn’t. lol For starters, you’re the one that assumed I was talking about Germany. So I went along with a ‘theoretical scenario’ of Germany winning the war in Europe, then later attempting an invasion of the US, with the possibility of also having developed the atomic bomb. Not sure there is even an argument here. This is all hypothetical/conjecture, tbh:
  21. US Politics/Elections Thread

Like I’ve said already a few times, no one would have expected them to attempt a US invasion until years after the war in Europe would have been won. It would have given them time to recover and they would have had all of Europe’s resources available to them. And yes, the possibility of them developing the atom bomb makes it plausible, imo.
  22. US Politics/Elections Thread

Possibly. But in any case, had Germany won the war in Europe, the world would be a much different place....which was part of my original point to begin with.
  23. US Politics/Elections Thread

Hypothetically, they wouldn’t have attempted an invasion of the US until years after winning the war in Europe, after sufficient time to rebuild.
  24. US Politics/Elections Thread

Probably not. But had they won the war in Europe, it would have given them some time to rebuild their forces, etc. Would have only been a matter of time before they did...and had they developed nuclear technology, then what? During WWII, the Germans had control of where my family’s house was in Italy. The allies would bomb and destroy railroad tracks/supply lines. The Germans would rebuild them hours after the allies bombed them. They had crews literally waiting for them to be bombed so they could start repairing them immediately. Within a few days, they would get bombed again, and the Germans would repair them, and so forth. The German army worked like a well-oiled machine. I have little doubt they would have been able to eventually reach the US mainland, given enough time. But who knows.... @DieselDaisy would be better suited to answer.
  25. US Politics/Elections Thread

I wasn’t speaking specifically about Germany. But if they had won the war in Europe, who knows what would have happened with the rest of the world. But if you seriously think they would have had a difficult time reaching the US, go do some research. There are reports of German U-Boats (Submarines) being within striking distance of the US mainland during the war. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/head-here/2014/04/25/aa5c8202-c3d5-11e3-b195-dd0c1174052c_story.html?noredirect=on
