  1. I showed my dad The General and the first thing he said was “It sounds like it’s from CD”. He likes that album and so do I, but even as a casual fan he could tell it was made during that time and he was actually more surprised that Slash was on it. He didn’t really care about this song though. He had a much more positive reaction to Monsters and I think they should just have relapse monsters instead. Only the hardcore fans built up The General to sound like something epic before it came out. With the hype people here had given you’d expect a Octavarium level epic, and I will admit I was a bit disappointed because of that. But putting the hype and expectations aside, it’s still a pretty mediocre song. People obviously have complained about the production issues and the vocal effects, but the repetitiveness and lack of any real hooks are really disappointing. The thing everyone praises is the Slash solo at the end, but you can barely hear it over Axl doing some nothing vocals that were probably recorded two decades ago.
  2. The more I listen to it and compare it to other Guns songs, the worse it gets. I feel the dark more moody setting was done far better on Sorry. That’s a song I’ll actually go back and listen to. This’ll probably be down there with Absurd and My World and only be listened to when I’m hearing full albums or their whole discography
  3. General is just middle of the road and nothing special. Disappointed that Monsters was not released at the same time since it is one of the best songs in the CD era
  4. That’s extremely disappointing since Monsters was the best song of these singles so far. The General was average and IMO the second worst of the singles only losing to Absurd. It wasn’t bad but just wasn’t that special. I was hoping monsters would be there but oh well, gotta drip feed these songs and milk it as long as possible I guess
  5. If the vinyl has Monsters will be the deciding factor for if I order it or not. Perhaps is a good UYI throwback and I like the song. I think The General is the weakest single other than Absurd. However, I fucking love Monsters and that inclusion with Perhaps would be well worth it for the single
  6. I could see them having Monsters replace Heavens Door right before nightrain if they decide to play it. Especially with heavens door being extremely early in the set
  7. I don’t think him being back in DT will stop most of the projects. Sons of Apollo were kinda his creative output for DT type stuff though and bumblefoot also said it was likely they wouldn’t do anything again. But Winery Dogs are on tour and Metal Allegience has a 3rd album planned. I think SOA is the only one that will stop, which is fine since he is back in the band people want. Kinda like there being no point in VR now that Slash and Duff are back in GNR
  8. It was revealed this morning from all the members of the band that their original drummer (and fan favorite) has returned to the band after 13 years. It seems like Sons of Apollo with Bumblefoot won’t be doing much anymore since Mike Portnoy is going back to his original band.
  9. People are most excited about Ac/Dc? They were the least interesting band on that lineup to me
  10. I love IRS, but honestly feel like If the World already sounded like Slash’s playing and that would fit him the most
  11. I think if you have a minute intro and 30 second outro for atmosphere, it shouldn’t take up 25% of the runtime. If the song was much longer (which I would love as I love all the parts of CD) then the atmosphere building could be more justified. Or they could have left all the atmosphere stuff as a intro song to the album and then CD can be played entirely separately
  12. I agree that he looks better, but the black vest not being able to cover his stomach is not the right look. He looked fantastic other than that one outfit, even my dad that I went with pointed out the same thing
  13. I was surprised how into it the crowd was even with all the weather. It seemed to me like it was even more so than the Foxboro show, but that may have been because I was in front of the stage this time instead of in the stands
  14. I hadn’t really felt like seeing them since Foxboro in 2016, but that show was fantastic. Even though my clothes were still wet until yesterday, and the setlist was a bit shorter. Those downsides were not nearly enough to not make it really fun. We were in B5 near the stage so there was nothing we could do about the weather, and after a couple songs of downpour we just accepted the fact that we’d be soaked the rest of the time
  15. Damn, they ended cause of the curfew but they still had enough time to play one more. Oh well, other than that the concert was great. Didn’t even mind getting fucking soaked. My dad went with me and he didn’t do much with the new songs, but he absolutely loved PTU and BO
  16. Anyone know when they get on? We finally found a parking garage after 40 minutes of searching
  17. Now for the hardest part, finding parking
  18. Hard School (I am not gonna spell it the dumb way) is the closest to old GNR I’ve heard from the band so that wins hands down as being exactly what I wanted. The official Perhaps is a mix between CD, Illusions and a bit of Slash’s solo record and I love all 3 so I like it second best. Absurd is good when I feel like it, but it is by far the weakest of the 3.
  19. With all the hype the general has gotten, I’m expecting a virtuosic 25 minute epic with full orchestra and choir along the lines of Octavarium. Knowing the band, we will probably get a 2 and a half minute half decent straight forward rock song. Not that I have a problem with it, but there is no way it can live up to expectations
  20. Apparently the Independent gave arctic monkeys 5 stars. How much you want to bet that one was also written before the concert that I have heard no good things about
  21. I’m hoping these songs are just earlier in the set and they’re gonna put in some surprises after
  22. Not the worst Scom I’ve heard from them, so better than I was expecting
