I hung out with Steven back in January at NAMM, and after spending a couple hours around him I understand why they would be hesitant to bring him on the tour full time. And it's not because of drugs.

I have to agree with this as well.  Even besides the drug problem, he’s an immature person.  Which may be endearing in small doses, but definitely not full time.

Bach, Corey, Jack Black, Marilyn Manson, Scott Stapp, M Shadows are all people I could see doing that. My money is on JB. If it can be Jack Black it could even be someone like Weird Al lol.. he chose "entertainers" instead of singers so that's something.

I can't see any of these people playing with Adler......well maybe, Scott Stapp, I'm sure he needs a job.  lol

More likely a reality show contestant...like Constantine or someone.

His speech is slurred because of a stroke he had in 1996. He's lucky the stroke only messed up his face and not his hand eye coordination. My uncle had a stroke 5 years ago and to this day the whole left side of his body is paralyzed. Steven is very lucky in that regard. And being a recovering heroin addict myself, I can spot an active user from a mile away, and I can tell you with full confidence that Steven is sober.

If you say so.  It's not really his slur I was referring to.  I watched that tv interview he did with his mother to promote her book and I really thought he was on something there.  He was rambling, jumping from topic to topic, didn't seem sober to me.

Well, Axl is getting ripped to shreds on FB for his Twitter comment haha!!

There were over 1000 'STFU fat Axle' comments!

Honestly, who cares if he is getting ripped by Trump supporters?  Good for him I say.

    @Padme

When I said Yesterday's is his worst song I meant vocally. It was by far the worst I have ever heard him sing on both nights in London and looking at what people have said from shows after, it hasn't improved at all. Its really bad every single time, unlike songs that I usually pick at him for like YCBM. I can find great vocal performances from this tour of YCBM as well as really bad. Yesterday's is always just bad.

I think Axl sounds really good in this YCBM.

I can't find any Yesterdays that sound in any way 'good' they should just drop it. The set is long enough, they don't need to replace it. Imo.

As for not playing Don't Cry and Patience, that is one the most infuriating decisions they make. It doesn't make any sense why they won't play them, but then Axl would not play Estranged until 2011:shrugs:

I don't know why people think Yesterdays sounds bad live.  It sounded fine when I saw their show and the crowd enjoyed it.

I would like to hear Your're Crazy or Think About You, fat chance on the latter I guess, without Izzy.

Guys... guys. We were overthinking it and looking it it from completely the wrong light.

Winnipeg litho is based on this image from the Manitoba Department of Mines and Natural Resources from almost a hundred years ago.

I thought I KINDA recognized the art style and sure enough, after being pointed in the right direction, it turns out it's a style that is synonymous with a very famous poster artist by the name of Tom Purvis. I recognized the artwork but never knew the artist's name until now. If you've ever seen old British propaganda posters (which Purvis did a few of) or the classic series of vintage London Rail posters, you would probably recognize the style. But if you're like me, you'd have no idea about the name of the artist. Well, now I know. I can't confirm whether the original Manitoba artwork is by Tom Purvis but it is at least done to imitate his style. Some of his famous rail posters:

I think youre onto something.  The Gangster Al Capone had a huge base of operations in Manitoba (among other provinces).  The rum runners would delivery booze illegally over the border to USA during prohibition.  A main route was the Red River Valley. A minute ago I posted speculation about the red colour theme.

Theres a video here that Ive yet to watch, but the brief G&A beneath it might say it all:

Q - Where was Al Capone rumoured to have stayed when he was in Winnipeg?

    A - The Woodbine Hotel

Q- What valley did Capone's rumrunners follow from the U. S. to Winnipeg?

A - The Red River Valley

Im thinking its depicting the Rumrunners of Winnipeg?

That could be, you see the river in the background.  It must be based off a real photo though?  It's driving me crazy what it must be.

  8. I was at the show last night in Pit 1.  Truly a phenomenal experience.  The band was excellent.  Everything everyone has said is true, Axl sounds amazing in concert, I was five feet from him the whole night.

Slash is a beast, guitar demi-god.  And Duff is so cool and smoking hot.  Everyone I talked to after loved the show.

So great to see my favorite band put on such an amazing show after all this time!

I tend to agree with you... but what really has me wondering is that we would have (almost certainly) heard something from Adler if he wasn't going to be there by now.  This event would be Adler's "Super Bowl" and there's no way he wouldn't be flipping out by now if he wasn't involved in some way.

The same goes for Izzy (to a much lesser extent, of course)...an event like this (AFD anniversary, small venue) screams Izzy Stradlin and the fact he's been radio/social media silent for some time now also has me wondering.

I know.  I realize they probably won't be, but can't help to hope.  You think they would have publically denied it by now.  Surely some fans or media have asked them.

There you go (I put in under a spoiler tag, so anyone who doesn't wanna read some pretty nasty comments about Axl can avoid reading them):

    http://sleazeroxx.com/original-l-a-guns-vocalist-michael-jagosz-passes-away/

Original L.A. Guns vocalist Michael Jagosz passed away on March 9th at the age of 48.

Jagosz fronted L.A Guns during their formative years. The singer first performed with the band in 1983, eventually being replaced by Axl Rose while serving a week long sentence in the county jail after a bar fight. Jagosz would in turn replace Rose and together L.A Guns released a four song EP entitled ‘Collector’s Edition No. 1’ in 1985 containing the songs “Don’t Love Me”, “When Dreams Don’t Follow Through”, “It’s Not True”, and “Something Heavy” — the tracks would eventually resurface as a bonus disc on the 2004 release ‘Hollywood Raw: The Original Sessions’.

No details have emerged about the cause of death, but the final post on Jagosz’ Facebook page is the cryptic “I’m drowning.”

L.A. Guns founder Tracii Guns remembered Jagosz fondly by saying, “the last time I hung out with Mike Jagosz was a few years ago at The Venice Beach Music Fest and we had a lot of laughs that day and that’s how I will remember him with that giant smile! I hope peace and Mike have found each other. We recorded the first L.A. Guns EP together at 18 years old which both of our first real studio experience. He is also the first singer I ever wrote and performed with. I always wished he could find a great metal band to front and why that didn’t happen is beyond my scope of understanding. He was very influenced by UFO , Dio and Ian Gillan. He had the killer metal pipes!” Sylent Storm member Jym Harris also confirmed the death. “We had our ‘differences’ over the years but last time I talked to him (on February 28th) he was determined to make good with me about everything. I had no idea he was dying. Makes sense now. RIP my friend, you will be missed.”

In a 2011 interview with the Proud2BeLoud blog Jagosz lashed out at Axl Rose. “To tell you the Jesus Christ truth… William Bailey was only in the group for two fuckin weeks. I tried to give him vocal lessons… but, he sucked. Voted “least likely to ever make it”. He always was a pathetic sub-human being. He lived at my parent’s house for over six months… sponging off us and doing heroin. What a little fag*ot. Come to find out, he was a male-fag*ot prostitute at the time — L-O-S-E-R. He sold his asshole to gay men for money. But, he made 70 million. He was a real piece of work, he was/is a parasite. A real sack of shit.”

In the same interview Jagosz had kinder words for former bandmate Tracii Guns. “Tracii tried to save me from getting arrested. I was drunk, wanting to drive… he hid my keys. I was actually out of the group just after doing the EP. Tracii Guns was a true brother. Gotta love him. Successor to Randy’s throne.” When asked what he thought of the direction L.A Guns would eventually take Jagosz continued, “Hated it at first. We were metal, the 3-bar chord shit killed me. I thought Tracii was wayyyyyyyyy too talented to do that shit. Looking back though, he went commercial to sell. God bless Tracii, he saw what we couldn’t.”

Jagosz, born on December 13, 1965, is survived by his mother Rosa Caceres Jagosz, son Michael Jeffrey Jagosz and brother David Jagosz. A private memorial is planned for April 1, 2014.

It's worse than I remembered actually

    Thoughts?

Obviously, the guy seems like a complete douchebag. I mean... "Male-fag*ot prostitute"? "Pathetic sub-human"? Really?!

Usually, I wouldn't take anyone who talks like that seriously anyway, but I just can't figure out why he hates Axl so much. It's not like Axl stole his place in L.A. Guns and then went on to become super successfull with them.

Is he just jealous because Axl made it big and he didn't? Or still mad about the time Axl lived with his family? It's strange to me that the guy could still be so bitter about Axl "sponging off of his family for six months" about three decades later (and why didn't they just kick him out if they didn't like having him around?).

Is he actually telling the truth or did he just try to come up with the most damaging thing he could say about another man in his mind (i.e. letting yourself get fucked by other guys for money)?

For what it's worth, @killuridols says she knows of another guy who knew Axl back then who apparently made the same claims about him. I don't know the details about that one though, maybe she can tell us if they match up with what Mr. Jagosz was claiming here.

I think the guy was just wasted and venting, and probably drank himself to death.

I have questioned whether Axl was gay or bi myself, but I don't believe he ever prostituted himself.  Steven on the other hand.......

@Frey :wow: Where have you been? :max:

Lol, honestly there is a bigger chance of Beta dating Tom Jones ("you're my sexbomb") than Axl being with the singer (from what I've seen and read it seems that she's known him for some time and is a part of his drinking-and-partying circle together with other freaks when they meet somewhere - I've almost forgotten about the Nur Khan guy ....wasn't her band partner one of the drunkards mentioned in the article?). It was only 3-4 days ago when "Axl is with Sasha for sure...why doesn't he say they are together" discussion was going on here. And a couple of months since "There must be something between Axl and Melissa for sure". And a year ago: "Sasha is pregnant with Axl, omg"....well also recently "Sasha is fat, must be pregnant, is that Axl's?" So I'll give it a week and there'll be a new omg-she-is-his-new-girlfriend woman spotted around Axl . So, be careful you who are gonna meet him, take a quick picture and run away....you know how fast the rumours spread

Yeah, I seriously doubt Axl/Alison were anything more than friends and party buddies.  I think Sasha is basically just a friend these days too, just my speculation.

Anyway, Alison was singing with Dave Grohl a couple of days later, so she's moved on.  ?

I guess many musicians of this generation (born between ~1975-1980), although not influenced by GnR, listened to them as kids and they have them as their childhood heroes. GnR had impact on people in many different (and sometimes unexpected) ways. The other day in the Izzy thread @Tori72 brought up Against Me!, a band with very different sound and philosophy to GnR, whose leader, a transgender woman, said how important GnR were for her as a kid and implied that Axl's androgynous look helped her find her identity (the irony of this reminds me of how Axl concluded his induction speech for Elton John after saying what his music meant to him etc "now a man who in ways is responsible for more things than he ever planned on" )

I love this, because when reinventing axl rose first came out, the singer, (who was a man then) never admitted being a fan of Axl, and I remember Axl was really mad that they used his image on that cover, I think he thought they were insulting him.  It's nice they are forthcoming about being fans now.  ?

    Hello, long time lurker....

    Bring this article here:

Is there a picture with Axl and the lady of The Kills.

    Saludos

That must have been quite the party if Tom Jones hit the dance floor.

I think it's cool.  Axl is a night owl, no way he's retiring to bed after a show in a world class city.  It's part of his legend.

And in London too, when Andrei was in the VIP stand in the middle of the pitch..

Honestly who is Andrei?  I know he's in the GNR crowd, but is his dad a billionaire or something?  Look at his instagram, besides GNR, he's also hanging with other rock and rap stars, fashion events, cannes film festival etc. Seems to have quite the connections and wealth

Where The Kills also with GnR in London? Because I heard a tiny and not very believable rumour from a teenage guy that The Kills singer lady and Axl were hooking up. I didn't ask the source though as I didn't think he was reliable and he was a bit boasting about his "knowledge". But I thought I leave it here for your guys critical CSI work. That might explain everybody's interest in that band though.

Jeez, I'm on the verge of spreading rumours and I don't wanna do that. So please take it with a huge grain of salt.

Probably a rumour, but I think Alison Mosshart is totally cool.  Like Dead Weather better than the Kills, but she has real star quality imo.  Might explain why Andrei was taking pics of her ?

WE ONLY expect him to give a little fuck fuck GnR... Look how he sang whole lotta rossie in GnR concert, and how he sang it with ACDC. That example sums it all up . HE DOESNT CARE about sounding good. HE IS capable of it, ,this isnt about age.

I think it's really stupid to say he doesn't care, he obviously cares and puts a ton of energy into every show.
