Sorry - just noticed I got this wrong!!!

It was 1st Jan 2001 House of Blues. Any video exist?

Audio exists. Proshot video is rumored to exist but nobody knows anybody who has seen it.

MSL has it :)

I think around that time people were still afraid of brining any devices in. And didn't want to risk it, being it was Axl s first gig.

Video exists but collectors won't share it. There are plenty of videos these people would never trade or sell. Those gigs are from 1991-1993. I would kill to get those.

There WAS a pro videography crew there (I was standing next to one of em...they had the ability to walk back and forth between the stage and the barrier from the GA crowd) There was a cd of the show (VERY poor quality) which was leaked a month or so after the show. It was before everyone had a video recorder on their phones, and security was really tight (they told us Axl would leave if he saw a camera, and, incidentally, the hotel wouldn't let us sit down while we were in line for the show..looked bad in their casino, I suppose) which explains the lack of media covering the show.

I was at the December 29, 2001 show. Flying cross country to see Axl at the time was a gamble.... I don't remember them taking the stage very late that night. As far as I know there are only a few pictures existing of the show. Sad part is, security was not tight at all. I don't even recall getting patted down. Camera phones were prominent at all at the time. I remember Axl apologizing to the crowd for the cost of the ticket (I think it was like $150/piece). Also, I remember him saying that it was the first show he actually wanted to do. He sang Oh My God. I remember these two girls kept getting their butts grabbed by guys and security just shrugged that there was nothing they could do about it.

The show was professionally filmed and originally intended for commercial release. At one point it was scheduled to be released on VHS and DVD exclusively in Japan. It was inevitably cancelled.

Like most things of this nature, there are a few that do have copies of the DVD, but it's very rarely traded as the ones that have it place a very high value on it and it's difficult for them to find things they consider to be of equal trade value.

I suppose it's possible it may leak one day, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

One question for you.

Assuming that one has something worth trading. How does one find a way to communicate with other people having such materials?

Was this the first re-emergence of Axl Rose?

Does footage exist of this show? Was it good?

Not sure if you were looking specifically for info about the show on 12/29/01, or if you were interested in Axl and GNR's first re-appearance on the music scene. The first concert was actually a year earlier, December 31, 2000 (often referred to as 01/01/01 as Guns did not hit the stage until 3:32 a.m.!) at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. Apparently this show was professionally filmed, but has never been seen (other than by a few hoarders who have a copy of it.) Actually, looking back through the thread I see you were looking for info about the first one.

Guns next played Rock in Rio on January 15, 2001 in front of 200,000+ people.

Both of these shows began with an animated videoclip of Axl. Is there any footage available of this video? I've still never seen it.

After those two shows, Guns did not play live again until December 29 and 31, 2001, at The Joint in Las Vegas.

For setlists and recaps of the shows, www.gnrontour.com is a great resource.

I don't condone the trading of prerelease copyrighted materials so I'm afraid I can't help you. Sorry.

What are thoughts on possession of prerelease copyrighted materials?

over the years, I have only heard of one person having the DVD of this show. Numerous people have tried to contact this person but nothing ever comes of it. I don't know who this person is so I can't help anyone trying to find out

My thoughts are: keep it to yourself!

Even if you privately share it with one or two friends, inevitably, it WILL leak. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next week, but eventually it will and it could damage the band's negotiations with the label. It could harm the band's standing in the press by allowing critics to form opinions based on unfinished demos.

On top of it, you could potentially be faced with serious legal consequences.

It's just not worth it.

I see, I got into a dead end on this one here this time.

The audio bootleg from the House of Blues 1.1.01 is a classic. I'm surprised no audio bootlegs from the shows at The Joint ever turned up. My friends took some clips on their cell phones but the technology kind of sucked back then and the quality is pretty worthless.

oh well there go my hopes and dreams lol

would still be good to see it

Why would you want to see Buckethead without his mask? Plus if you really want to, if you search about on google you can find pictures of him without.

you talk about these pictures? they are fakes, this guy is a French who called Stéphane Alaux.
