GnR doing 12 shows in Vegas General Discussion Thread.

People dissing this have no idea what they are talking about for 2 reasons:

1. Gn'R frequently records in Vegas, so this is most likely an indication that the band will be booking studio sessions in Vegas together... lots of bands do something like this while they're recording - plus it's nice to make some coin to pay for studio time.

2. Hard Rock is an awesome, awesome spot and The Joint is a sweet venue... those who think it's some sleazy casino, have no clue.

I'd love it if they were doing this to bankroll recording of a new album and that having them altogether in one place for a prolonged period instead of on the road meant that they would have plenty of time to write and record an album, but can you see this happening? :shrugs:

Less variable cost. Should be profitable. Probably easy on band too.

To say that this is the end or that unless new songs it is the end is illogical. What difference is twelve shows? I'm only surprised they are doing it, but uh, isn't it nice they're still working?

You know I take back what I said that I would not go to this show. I would. The days of Axl Rose saving rock music are LONG gone. It is time to accept it for what it is. There are worst ways to spend an evening than listening to Axl's vocals of rock classics. Do I think the new band has any future in terms of new music? NO. Do I accept the new band? NO. Do I still want a reunion? YES. Will it ever happen???? Nope.

Definitely can't go even if I found a good deal on flights - every flight I could take coming home either leaves at 1 AM on the 25th (Which obviously wouldn't be possible), or 11 PM on the 25th, arriving at home at 1 PM on the 26th (I've got classes that day). Damn...

It's interesting that they're calling the jaunt "Appetite for Democracy." That should pretty much sum up what you're going to get with these shows. A lot of Appetite, some Democracy, and the usual UYI/Lies songs.

I'm also curious to see how many of these shows sellout. The great thing about playing Vegas from a band's perspective is that even if all the dates don't sell out soon after they go on sale, they benefit from playing a tourist destination. I've got to figure that most dates will still be available almost up until the performance date. People looking for something to do might jump on board when they're in town, rather than actually plan to visit Vegas for GNR.

Guns N’ Roses has teamed up with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to invade Las Vegas with a never-before-seen, one-of-a-kind music experience. Each night, the band will perform an electrifying show featuring a set list created exclusively for The Joint.

Exact details about the show are being kept under wraps but fans can expect the raw and gritty heavy metal Guns N’ Roses is known for along with a few surprise elements. Produced exclusively by AEG Live, Appetite for Democracy is unlike any show the band has ever done before or will ever do again.

I hope this is true and not all talk. I guess we'll see.

It'd be crazy if they brought back every past member to join them on stage.

I won't be seeing this because I won't go see Axl again after how bad the show I saw in December was BUT for those who still dig seeing him, this will be cooler than you think. Motley did it in february and it was amazing. The whole hotel had Motley shit everywhere, banners, magazines, shirts, poker chips, even the door hangers to tell the house keeping had motley on them and said "please clean my home sweet home" on one side and "don't go away mad, just go away" on the other. Hard Rock will really make this a cool thing for the fans and band. On top of all that kind of stuff, the band really gets in to a groove not having to travel so much with either staying in Vegas or going home to LA (depending on where they all live).

The thing I am most disappointed in with this though, is the terrible defacing of Robert Williams artwork. What a shame.

You're problems pale in comparison to mine. How to explain to my wife I must go to Vegas without here ahahaha
