Looking at that picture Axl looks really stoned (maybe he was referring to marijuana in Paradise City, only Axl knows) and smoking cigarettes wouldn't leave anyone with a glazed look, speaking of cigarettes what kind did Axl smoke back then

If i remember correctly, it (the whole "when the grass is green and the girls are pretty") is about when Axl and his family would go down to Bloomington, Indiana.
