Just got this delivered today off of ebay...........I have an excellent SB bootleg of both Rainbow early and late complete shows but always wanted the vinyl...with Clapton getting back on stage after two years fighting Heroin addiction  the performances are a little ragged at times but the bootlegs sounds fantastic........

looking forward to giving it a good cleaning and a spin......

  • 2 weeks later...

the BF RSD list has been up for a little now.

Interested in a few releases:

the kills - black rooster

anthrax - picture disc with two recent covers including black math by the white stripes

silver linings playbook ost

and maybe the cheap trick and twisted sister xmas releases because I love the two bands but am not big on xmas music

Finally got a decent deal on the the-dyed porno for pyros s/t RSD release from a few years back. Also picked up a few of the NIN re-issues, some of the new RSD releases and a chromatics LP from the Italians do it better site.

what do everyone's set ups look like? I know we've probably all posted the, at some point but I'm sure shit changes constantly.

I'm still rocking the same set I have been for a few years now:

Adcom 7000 amp
Sony ES receiver (basically a glorified switcher)
Clearaudio Nano V2 preamp
ATLP-240 deck
Ortofon Bronze headshell & stylus
All AudioQuest cabling

I think that's everything?

Here's a pretty good pic of some of my listening area. I've got two other big record bins opposite this picture that aren't in the photo:

As far as new records-
My Weird Al boxed set finally arrived after a 9 month wait
I also ordered a couple of things from Europe including Heartbreak Station, the last Cinderella LP I needed.

Really cool space, man! Love the wall with all the records. Have you seen the inside of transmission records in the UK? They did a whole floor of records then coated over it. It looks awesome.

I was lucky enough to pick up Heartbreak Station from a store when I was in London and Liverpool this summer. I even found a snakeskin 12" picture disc single as well. I thought I'd find an import out here sometime but have looked for years and never came across one.

Here's my setup and music room currently. I think it's pretty similar to what I may have posted before.

i rearranged things so bands a-z have their own space and soundtracks have their own little cube and 7" are all in boxes under the turntable.

the setup:

suyatk.jpg

Pro-Ject debut carbon esprit

ortofon 2M blue cartridge

Pro-Ject phono box

Audioengine A5+ speakers

bands a-z:

(Cool fact: that's the original painting for Rob Zombie's "everybody's fucking in a UFO single and the main albums inner gatefold. It was also used for various tour merch)

soundtracks:

I have this set on CDR I bought years ago..it is an old radio show box set history of the Rolling Stones on 12 vinyl LP's from 1982 I beleive...one of the best audio histories of the pre 1989 reunion band I have ever heard and I have a number of old radio shows. I finally pulled the trigger and bought the original vinyl in, supposed, mint condition...looking forward to giving these a good cleaning and relaxing with a cocktail for a marathon listneting session when the family is out of the house.........Merry Christmass to me!

Here is a good summary of a bootleg needle drop of these LP's

I've bought the Marley Stir It Up record player and Edifier R1700BT active speakers for my girlfriends birthday.

The date is december 20th and I've only had one quick chance to test them, however when I tested it the sound was very quiet. The preamp function on the record player was in the ON position and the speakers are much much louder when playing from my phone by bluetooth.

To be sure it's not just because of preamp in the record player, I've bought this preamp with volume control. Now it hasn't been delivered yet (chrismas overload on the delivery services) and I only have some time to return the record player.

Does anyone have experience with this issue and is the preamp I bought a solution to get more volume?

This is one of those things where you're going to get a different answer from everyone but I believe the preamp you chose will fix your volume issue.

It arrives today so I'll let y'all know if it fixes the volume issue!

After that the expensive collecting shall begin, I think I'm gonna go to some second hand stores and focus on buying LP's at shows I'm attending. Really I am fine with getting my music from spotify but it's a gift for the girlfriend and I'll probably wont resist getting some favourites on Vinyl :)

My Third Man Vault 34 arrived. It's 3 LPs of The White Stripes Live In Detroit.

Very cool. I sold mine before I even got it. It looks like a beautiful set but I only need so many live WS shows. Plus when it comes to that material, I'd rather just listen to Jack live at Bonaroo or the Acoustic Live vault they put out last year. I'm very excited for the inevitable vault release of Jack's upcoming album though.

I did buy the deluxe edition of Total Chaos from TMR recently though which is signed by Iggy and has a 7" of his pre-stooges band, the prime movers.

Also got the deluxe version of "We're going to be friends" which includes a 7" that has April March doing a french rendition of the song.

Picked up a few strangler's 7' singles as well as a mother love bone 7" that was released on RSD a few years back.

FINALLY received the Bad Batch soundtrack from mondo

Got the babadook soundtrack from Waxwork.

I kinda thought that too when I was unboxing it, it's kinda like "How many versions of Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground do I need?"

I'm excited about the new album too. What I'm really hoping for is a Vault release of the two Detroit shows I saw a couple years back. Both shows were absolutely stunning.

my fresh collection is growing, with the latest addition of Use Your Illusion II!

right now I own

AC/DC - Highway to Hell

AC/DC - Back In Black

Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion 2

Led Zeppelin IV

UYI II sounds fucking amazing on vinyl. Pretty Tied Up and Locomotive have ALL sorts of details that sound amazing.
