ITG
The answer is Buckethead. The question was rhetorical (more of a Q&A). No need to reply to this post. You can all go home now.
saber_
For it to be a question, there needs to be a question mark at the end. Comparing Axl and Buckethead is a wee bit more complex than your oversimplification. Are we talking about lyrics, riffs, songs? There are shades of grey. Gordon Comstock
Axl admittedly has/had writers block and has years of creative non-activity. Buckethead oozes creativity to the point that he's put out close to an album a month for the last 2 years [Pikes]. (The majority of which are fucking killer, btw). MEXzilla
Idk Axl made music in his hey day that pretty much destroys BH career, that's my feeling.
Guest NGOG
Axl is a lyrical and piano virtuoso. Buckethead is a guitar virtuoso. Why would you compare?

ITG
Wasn't his piano tuned down a 1/2 step so he could play November Rain without the black keys?

Chunder Monkey
Yeah it depends on how you define "artistic" and what you want from your "art" and many other things.Bucket is a formidable guitarist in terms of his dexterity and technique. He also has wonderful moments of melody such as Soothsayer. However, his style can also become quite predictable (killswitch, 10 finger tap run, whappy pedal, a collection of impressive tricks but tricks none the less) and in terms of his output it's varied and for every gem to me there's quite a lot of filler.Axl is a formidable vocalist in terms of his range, power, tone and lyrics. He has very impressive songwriting moments too. However, inability to efficiently handle the business side of things and manage artistic issues has seen GNR become largely unproductive and led to serious creative wastage. However, of the music he has released, it is all of a very high standard with little filler. That's how I see them.
wasted
Axl is like Renaissance painter, Bucket is like an experimental horror director.
Broskirose
Comparing two musicians to find out who is more artistic is pretty difficult. I'd say they're both quite artistic. Bucket just shares more of his output. Edited November 9, 2013 by Broskirose
Randy Lahey
One wears a mask and the other paints with invisible ink. Both are awesome. I'd pour out a little Dr. Pepper for either of them.
