Dexter. On season 3 now really enjoying it so far.

Dexter is fantastic for the first few seasons but man, when the quality starts going down it goes down super fast. If I could get back all the time I wasted watching the last season, I would.

I just told him this in the other thread, that I had to force myself to finish it, especially that last season. But once I've invested so much time in a show, I kinda want to see it through... I'm sorta in the same situation with The Walking Dead now. It's the same for me with a book or movie, once I'm halfway through it, I have to finish it no matter how bad it gets.

Space Force

Dang this blows! And how is that possible with this cast and creators? Its actually tarnishing the legacy of the Office and Parks a bit imho. I love goofball comedy - especially when it has one of these stacked casts of comedians - but this is so lame and self-satisfied. It literally just puts on camera everything a slack jawed costal liberal might think... but like, thats the humour... just mundane statements that highlight a world view. And ones supposed to laugh just because like "Its funny because its true." Except that the jokes ring as hollow as the ethos. This production represent full idiocracy in a John Stewart base reality.

Still watching it though, lol. Willard is always fucking golden, RIP. It's got some potential for cringe and they should lean into that more.

I tried and had to stop a couple of episodes in. It's absolutely terrible. I kept thinking the same thing: how on Earth could this much talent fail so miserably??

Maybe it’s “creators” should go back to ripping off Ricky Gervais.

On season 5 of Dexter. I feel like it's getting bad like you guys said. Rita is dead. Lumen is annoying. There's changes which are abrupt and clumsy.

I don't remember every season, but I believe that after season 5 they get a little bit back on track again (although not as good as the first seasons), but then it goes bad again and the last season is probably the worst.

Yes. The last good season is 4. After that it gets messy and you can only enjoy it, while willingly overlooking the flaws. It does get a little better from the low point towards the end, but still a far cry from Season 1 to 4.

The Order, season 2 (Better than season 1 because they are no longer trying to have realistic storylines and relationships mixed in with the camp and comic book vibes)

Long Strange Trip (they can say that again!)

Final season of Dark. This is one of the most complicated shows I have ever seen. This is the type of show that you have to binge-watch or else it gets too confusing. I watched the previous season about a year ago and that is apparently already too long ago for me to remember all the different timelines, characters and plot twists. Fantastic show, though, but very confusing.

My wife was like you and loved the show but hated the last few seasons. Personally I had a hard time with it from the get go. The actress who played his sister was terrible and I grew very tired about how on the nose the show was about how badly Dexter wanted to kill people. Made it two seasons in and stopped.

My wife and I finished it the other night. We really enjoyed it for what it was. Not sure the hate to be honest; made us laugh.

Blasphemy!  Easily one of the best shows on television. Some of the later seasons are some of its best.

I’m in the exact same boat as you, except I watched the second season back in February and have already forgotten how everything is connected and what everyone is doing.  Now I feel I have to start the show all over again because I’m not sure I’ll be able to follow the third and final season.  Great show but definitely a mind fuck.

That's what I should have done. I'm stuck on episode 3 now and I'm lost. I still want to finish it, because it's the final season and a great show, but I either have to read up on a lot of the storylines or start from the beginning again. I watched a summary of the first two seasons on YouTube before starting the third season, but that wasn't of much help.

For those who haven't started it yet; season 3 is the final season, so it's a show one can easily binge-watch and that should make it easier to follow, just don't take a long break in between episodes, unless you have a photographic memory.

Yeah, the speed of change and storytelling picks up exponentially as the show moves along. I had a good handle on the show during the first and the second half of season two but things really started to get complicated  after that. You would think having only watched the second season four months ago it wouldn’t be a problem but I’m really hesitant to continue.

I told others the exact same thing about watching the show. It’s now safe to jump in now that the third season has arrived. I wish I had waited but that’s hindsight. There was zero chance I could have known what I was getting myself into when I started watching it.

Midnight Gospel (Netflix)

Easily one of the most trippy shows I have ever seen. No idea how this was greenlit, but I’m glad it was. It will take several viewings to really get everything they are doing. The last episode is some of the most profound television I have ever seen. Not afraid to admit that it made me tear up like nothing i have seen before.  Not for everyone but for those looking for something really out there and different and come at it from an open mind I would really recommend it.

Don’t watch the trailer as it doesn’t do a great job of selling the show.

Hunters (Amazon Prime)

Jewish revenge porn at its most pulpy. I enjoyed most of it but found my interest waining the last couple of episodes.  Interesting and fun reveal at the end that sets up a possible second season.

Star Trek - The Next Generation

I use to watch this show when I was a kid. I didn’t love it back then likely because a lot of it went over my head at the time. I use to watch reruns in syndication so I never really followed the overarching narrative for each season (even though it’s very light in this area.  But i am loving it so far. It’s such a better show than how i remember it. And a lot of it holds up really well for a show that was made in the late 80s and early 90s (though it’s funny how they somehow failed to predict ebooks).

It’s also been refreshing to watch a show where stories are contained in one episode. Kind of a nice throwback. Plus with everything going on of late the show offers some great future escapism that presents humanity long past the absurdities of life we currently encounter. The cast for the most part is fantastic, with Patrick Stewart crushing every scene he’s in as Jean-Luc Picard.  The first season is a bit of a slog but it really hits its stride in season two, particularly once the Borg makes their first appearance. I’m also surprised how funny the show can be at times.

Never considered myself a huge Star Trek fan (though the film First Contact is one of my favourite sci-fi films) but may need to reconsider that consideration. I’m halfway through season four with three and a half seasons left.

Finally catching up on Lost before it gets yanked from Amazon once more in 2 weeks. Currently at the beginning of season 2.

People will say the first three or four seasons are the best and that things went off the rails for seasons 5 and 6.  But I enjoyed the entire show.  It's a great ride.

The Americans - I've tried to get into it a few years ago, watched 6 or 7 episodes and couldn't connect with it. Tried again a couple of days ago. Great fuckin' show. Highly recommended.

Yes. That's what I heard and also that the conclusion is not really satisfying, which made me wonder if I should even bother. But right now I'm at the beginning of season 3 and I'm enjoying it. Is a bit of a trip, but entertaining.

Personally I loved the conclusion.  The show is really about the characters and their respective journeys. The overarching themes of the show remain strong throughout.

You might feel differently than others because you get to watch the show at your own schedule. I started watching from the first episode, as did millions of others. It took six years of watching week to week. For some they felt the payoff wasn’t worth the investment. If you can watch the show in a month, you might not feel like you’re owed the same heights of narrative storytelling that some expected having invested so much of their time and patience.
