There are a lot of advantages to this from our point of view:- Better chance of the issue being resolved or an agreement being reached- Less pointless drama / attention-seeking playing out in public- Opportunity for a frank, open discussion without derailing a threadWith time though, we've noticed there are some disadvantages:- People sometimes think we have something to hide- People sometimes misrepresent how they were treated or what transpired in a PM- Nobody sees what work the mods actually doThis is also a problem when a member is banned. We might have sent someone a polite PM on many occasions, or they may have hit 5 warnings points... but since there is no easy place for people to find (or us to post) that explanation, we find that people fill in the gaps themselves and miss the full picture from our perspective.After thinking about this for some time, I thought of some things we could do to improve transparency in a practical sense. I felt that we should particularly focus on giving our Supporters appropriate insight into how we operate - some way of repaying the faith, so to speak. Here's what I brought to the team, who unanimously voted to support the changes.Supporters will now be able to see a public view of the 10 most recent moderator actions. You can access it from the top nav bar: Clicking will show a list like the image below. Any "deleted moderator or task initiated" entries are posts being archived. Also note that if a member deletes their own post, that will also be shown too (eg, Silent Jay):Additionally, we'll be creating a "banned member" thread to be pinned and locked in Support. We'll use the thread to record the details of members that get banned, as well as any relevant history in explaining our reasons for doing so. I'll give more details in the thread itself when it's posted shortly and add a link to it here. The mod who performs the ban will make the post.Hopefully this makes it easier for supporters/members to know who it is they should contact if they want further information about what was deleted or why someone was banned.Thanks everyone, and I hope these changes are generally well received. "Notable" members, and not people with less than 10 posts that just registered to spam the place.Also not going to go any further back than a couple of weeks at most.
