Recommended Posts

Really excited i am flying out to Hong Kong for a week tomorrow has any one ever been? any recommendations on where to visit ?

Good for you man. Always liked the look of Hong Kong from what I've seen on screen. Makes New York look so small.

Hong Kong is a lot of fun. My favorite place in Asia I have ever been to. Beware of the people selling fake watches as they will hound you.

Not sure what you are into but three places worth a visit are

1. Stanley Market: great place to get gifts cheap. Never pay the asking price. You are expected top barter with the vendors just don't insult them with a crazy low ball price. I find you can get stuff for 30% off listed price. It is also on the bay and there are some nice restaurants where you can sit outside on a nice day.

2. Apliu Market is also fun if you like shopping. Has just about everything you can imagine including electronics. This website has some good suggestions for other places to visit as well

3. Electronics street is an interesting place to visit although I did not think the prices were better then here in the U.S.

Hong Kong has great subway and rail system if you can figure out the map. It is the best way to get round.

Haven't been there in almost 25 years, but it was one of my favourite cities in Asia. Not sure if it's still there, but check out the floating fish market if you can. Can't recall the name, but it's a floating market where you can buy your lunch/dinner while it's alive and take it to a nearby restaurant to have it cooked.

Have fun!
