DJ Ashba quits Guns N' Roses

Recommended Posts

He has clearly not heard of the lower case, DJ, but at least he wrote it out by hand. Refreshing to see in this day-and-age.

But writing by hand only to post pictures of his hand writing on the internet seems a bit pretentious doesn't it?

Not really. It's a letter of resignation and people will want to know it's authentic and in his own words. Showing a handwritten note seems a fair way of establishing that.

Hm, fair enough.

I know this is a thought only a hater could have, but what if Axl really is going to release some music and this is happening because he lol'd at and rejected everything DJ submitted? :wow:

They probably arranged a special one way hook up with Team Brazil over webcam for Ashba to field his ideas so they could have a good laugh on their day off

Ok, with Ashba officially out, it's now up to reunion or we will never see Guns N' Roses again I guess.

Ashba's farewell letter:

To Each and Every One Of You,

6 years ago I received a call that changed my life forever. The call was from a dear friend of mine (Katie McNeil-Diamond) who was working with Guns N’ Roses. It was an offer to audition for Axl Rose and earn a role in arguably the biggest rock band of my time. While I thought it was a complete long-shot, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Much to my shock and surprise, I got the gig. And so began the most incredible journey I could have possibly imagined. I was blessed with the opportunity to not only work with one of the most talented bands but also to share the stage with a living legend and a truly gifted human being, Axl Rose. The amount of confidence and trust that Axl placed in me was genuinely heartwarming and truly career-defining. In the years that followed I traveled the world many times over and played these incredible songs night after night to the most enthusiastic and loving crowds. As you can imagine, the friendships that were forged during that time were deep and long lasting. But the most beautiful surprise of all was YOU... the fans. You welcomed me into your lives with open arms and showed me love and support that I could only have dreamed of. From the very first time I stepped on stage and started playing "Welcome To The Jungle," and felt the crowd erupt, I knew my life would never be the same. I'm not gonna lie...I was terrified!! But you were so accepting. You immediately turned my fear into pride. For that, I am truly grateful.

So now it is with a very heavy heart and yet great pride that I announce that I've decided to close this chapter of my life and encapsulate the wonderful times that I've shared with Guns N’ Roses into fond memories. I have reached a point in my life where I feel its time to dedicate myself to my band Sixx:A.M., my adoring wife and family, and to the many new adventures that the future holds for me. I have always been driven by my passion for creating music and Sixx:A.M. has always been a place where I can express myself honestly and share that passion with my two brothers and bandmates, Nikki Sixx and James Michael. As you know I have also been blessed with the love and support of my incredible wife, Naty, who has been at my side for much of this amazing journey.

As I sit here writing this letter, I want to take a moment to thank Axl from the bottom of my heart for not only the most incredible experience of my life, but for truly believing in me. You are a true friend and a champion of mine and I am forever grateful. And even as I move on to pursue other endeavors, I will always remain one of your biggest fans. I also would like to thank each and every one of you fans for your love and support throughout the years. Without you, I am nothing. Please know that I do not take one minute of this amazing life for granted.

I hope that you all join me as I forge ahead. Let's conquer the world together!

With love and respect,

Dj Ashba

YES!!! ^_^ The is the best GnR news in many years!

It's only the only thing Ashba has ever done that I respect.

And honestly, fuck the travesty they've turned Guns n' Roses in to. Reunion or retirement (of at least the GnR name) are the only dignified things to do.

Dignified? What, like arseless chaps for instance?

As I said a few days ago, if your interest is in new music versus another tour, this development should be considered as good news. I can also confirm that regardless of who is in the band and who is out of the band, work continues on new material.

Any info on why Axl can tweet inanities but chooses to filter any news about progress on his music third or fourth-hand through the moderator of an unofficial forum? Not meaning to be facetious, I just genuinely don't get it. Axl is either happy for people to know he's working on music or he isn't. If he is, why doesn't he say so himself?

Axl hasn't confirmed anything with me (and I think it's a fair assumption that he isn't confirming news with anyone else). He's a private guy who chooses to go about his business however he sees fit. From what I hear, his main priority is on unreleased material; communicating with fans on where he's at on that front is way down the list.

In regards to BumblefFoot & Dj leaving I think it sucks. Not 'cause I think they are a great guitarist, but because they were apart of one of my Favorite bands. Who am I kidding they are they best. Now we have to wait and see what Axl is going to do.... Find replacement guitarists or call it quits. A reunion would be great but I don't see that happening (although I wish it would). There are plenty of guitarists out there that can play the music, and I would love to see Duff (& Slash, (don't hold your breath but you never know)) back, that would be truely awsome. Speaking of replacement guitarists, I wonder what Ted Nugent & Eric Clapton are doing these days?! (LOL) Axl Should put on a concert called Axl & Friends and have different wel know guitarists play their favorite songs. Maybe Garth can show up (haha).

To DJ & Ron, you guys suck for leaving and screwing up my chances for seeing a great band in the near future, but I hope your futue endevors all do well.

Round 2 (or is it 3, IDK) starts now!

Why was Bumblefoot asked to 'respect an agreement' but Ashba was able to share that he no longer works in Axl's band?

Most likely Ashba isn't leaving the door open for a return, where as BBF seems like he doesn't want to go down a road without be able to backtrack.

Although I didn't like Ashba, I slightly sympathise with him in the sense that he is dealing with an incredibly lazy and mentally unstable frontman; the guy probably thought he would record a gnr album (ho ho ho) like all the other fools who have joined this absurd band.

It seems like Ashba's departure is definitive, but Bumble's is in the air. He may be out, he may be not, or he may be out for some time (promote his album, tour i guess) and then come back. Maybe that's why he didn't talk about it?

So presumably your word is coming from someone within TB? In which case it's no different than the 2-3 new songs tale really.

Why was Bumblefoot asked to 'respect an agreement' but Ashba was able to share that he no longer works in Axl's band?

I assume different contracts, simple as that.

I have a feeling that he is renegotiating the contract with TB, I assume his contract got over, but he is not speaking cause if Axl tours again, then he can join the band on a new contract, if he says something against TB or the band then all doors would be closed for him.

I don't buy the whole "Axl's priority is working on new material." Axl is focused on new material and wants to complete an album, right? But... he doesn't care if the musicians that work with him performing part of that material live come and go? He now needs 2 lead guitarists.
