Nonsense.

So a nation's population can't change their minds over the course of 20 years?    Not to mention the fact that Chavez only received about 56% of the vote when he was initially elected.  And when Chavez was elected, his administration was capitalistic and center-left.  From that point forward though, his regime was full of corruption and steadily turned Venezuela into an authoritarian dictatorship.  It was Chavez's corrupt policies/regime that changed while holding power.  Only someone completely ignorant of the situation could blame it on the Venezuelan people.

As far as them electing Maduro, I'm not sure if you understand what election fraud means.  It means that Maduro wasn't democratically elected.  He rigged the election....which is commonplace among authoritarian regimes.

And a simple Google search would enlighten you about Guaido .  He is president of the National Assembly which would be similar to the Speaker of the House here in the United States.  Obviously it's a bit more complicated than that, since Maduro's regime stripped the National Assembly of power in 2017 (In an attempt to gain even more of a stranglehold of power over Venezuela)  but as acting president of the assembly, Guaido will fill the roll of president of Venezuela until a president is democratically elected. (Aka interim president).

It's a tense situation but if the military stops backing Maduro (seems as if it's headed that way) it shouldn't lead to any sort of civil war... especially if the reports are true that Guaido will give Maduro amnesty if he steps down.   I highly doubt any sort of military intervention by anyone, let alone the U.S., will be needed.

What part of they can't have two Presidents is that you don't understand?  If they have a Constitution. If they have a National Assembly. If they have a Supreme Court. Then they should deal with the political crisis.  Of course the people of Venezuela can change their mind. I'm afraid now it's too little too late. They knew what kind of guy Chavez was. They knew both Chavez and Maduro were left wing authoritarian populist. They didn't care! They voted for them. They fucked it up. In order for Guaido to be temporary President. Maduro has to resign. Neither the military in Venezuela nor the U.S. should play a role.

Wrong.  Maduro is an illegitimate president.  Of course his presidency should and  can be contested....if it means removing him from power and appointing an "interim" president until it is resovled, so be it.  I think it's awesome the Venezuelan people are standing up for themselves and taking back their country.

And Russia, Cuba and China are now backing Maduro.  Surprise, surprise.

Are you guys retarded? Saying anything good about Pelosi is insane. She's the stupidest person in Washington, literally. This thread is just a Democrats playground. Full of hate (just like every other liberal) can't even support the man in charge, even if he is of a different party. I admit liberals will get their way, only because they are little crybabies, hateful, evil, demanding and deceitful. That is the definition of a democrat.

Within your first sentence you've discredited yourself. Starting off a comment by calling people retarded and saying "anything good being said about Pelosi is insane" makes you look incredibly narrow-minded. Not even I would claim saying anything good about Trump makes one insane. Even Download and Silent Jay tried to make genuine arguments, you are just spewing vitriol. Perhaps your intellectual capabilities match those of our president and that is why you resort to a "rant" rather than an argument.

Pelosi just outmaneuvered your disgusting husk of a party leader. Trump is likely the stupidest person in Washington given his woeful articulation and consistent failure to understand basic concepts. And I'm sure you were an ardent Obama supporter just like all other Republicans during his tenure.

Go back to your propaganda news sites because they will publish what you want to hear.

EDIT: Reading this again - starts off calling people retarded and insane, then says the other side is full of hate.

We've already been over this. Referencing data points on illegal immigration from 10-20 years ago is meaningless in the current situation. The massive wave of illegal immigrants coming to the US is over - it peaked, it's done, it already happened. We have to figure out how to deal those that are still here, either illegally or waiting for citizenship proceedings.

Can’t even support the man in charge? Seriously? Just like conservatives were falling over themselves to support Obama for the last 6 years of his presidency?

Tucker Carlson recently came out as being opposed to the current structure of Capital. No, thats a reserved description: he put neo liberal capitalism on blast on his show! He said he'd consider voting for Elizabeth Warren if she stayed true to the content of her book "The Two-Income Trap."

And given the chance to walk it back in this interview, he sticks to his pointed criticisms of present day capitalism. He's still a douche and wrong about most things. I just wonder why his audience hasn't made him into a boogie man over his Democratic Socialist sympathies?

Make America Great Again! (for domestic abusers)

Quote

The Trump administration quietly changed the definition of both domestic violence and sexual assault back in April but the move has only just surfaced.

The Trump Justice Department’s definition only considers physical harm that constitutes a felony or misdemeanour to be domestic violence – meaning other forms of domestic violence such as psychological abuse, coercive control and manipulation no longer fall under the department’s definition.

Sometimes when controversial policy decisions are made that seem backwards, there are actually genuine reasons behind them: usually, navigating the bureaucracy (if we do X that means it approves of Y and we don't approve of Y so we can't do X until we do Z that refutes Y). I can give real examples if that doesn't exactly make sense.

But for this policy decision, I'm struggling to see how they have citizens' best interest in mind or are setting this issue up for future policy decisions. The latter three forms of abuse mentioned in the quote are very real and very damaging - just as much as physical/sexual harm, but in a different way.

I don't use the drug personally, but happy to see more A.G.s coming around on crimes relating to possession of weed:

https://www.axios.com/baltimore-stop-prosecuting-marijuana-possession-cases-5578de5b-0d2c-4304-9da3-b3b751354db2.html

It's headed that way.  In many metropolitan areas throughout the country, including Orlando (where I live) law enforcement has the option of giving someone essentially a "ticket" for possession of a small amount of marijuana instead of taking them to jail.  So in many cases, it doesn't even reach the prosecutor level anymore.

Well it's good that there's an out for law enforcement, it's a little concerning that it's left up to the individual cops to decide who gets a ticket and who gets taken to jail.  You just know that in some cases there's likely a racial/income variable when it comes to making that decision.
