Popular Post BlueJean Baby
@Whiskey Rose I agree with what you said, I have been on GNR forums for about 17 years now defending Axl and due to that, defending myself for defending him. I used to be an Admin over at the old gunnertemple and have fought these battles for years. People just don't understand that there are fans that truly care about Axl and his feelings without having some sick ulterior motive. I'm over 50, too old and wise for that shit. But I am also very stubborn and will continue to stand up for what I feel needs to be said.

In fact, I agree with you that there is way more behind it all than money. I think they just matured and was ready to put the past behind them and mend their friendship. Whatever happens, I'm enjoying the ride.

But for that to happen, they have to make a couple of albums at some point. It wouldn't be a reunion tour anymore. It would be the GN'R we all knew before the break up. No band can strech a reunion tour for 20 years
Popular Post Fansince88
13 hours ago, Blackstar said: This is how I see it too. The word that describes my relationship with this band is "strange". I don't know what I'd want or expect from them at this point. I was a fan at their heyday (mostly of the AFD era), but after the split in the mid 90s I followed the saga very loosely; I went to a NewGnR show and a VR one, I got their respective albums and read some random articles/interviews (indicating that they'd be one of the few exceptions to the fad of old bands reuniting even just for one show or special occasion), but other than that I didn't care much. I didn't even expect that I'd be so excited about a reunion (if it happened) to the the point to join a fan forum, a thing I'd never done before in my life (although there are other acts/bands I like and rank higher than GnR). When the reunion was announced, I was intrigued; I listened to the albums after a long time, started watching old videos and and looked for old articles to refresh my memory about them. At some point I came across a video with Duff talking about his book. After reading it, I wanted to read everything else available, so I read Slash's book, a bunch of interviews etc. Then came the footage from The Troubadour and I got pumped up. It was touching to see these guys together on stage again after all these years with their little belly guts and other signs of age (and at the same time Axl looking much better and closer to his younger self than in the last few years); it really looked like a happy ending of a long lasting, soap opera like -but real life- drama. I'm not romanticizing the whole thing nor idealizing the current band, but despite the motives behind this semi-reunion and its nature, there's this true element of closure that makes it (and even more a full reunion) noteworthy and special. In general, their story has a lot to do with their appeal, at least for me (I don't think I've read so much behind-the-scenes stuff about any other band), although I like them regardless and, strangely and unlike many other fans, in retrospect I appreciate them musically even more now (I mean the old band) than I did back then. I'd definitely like to hear new music from them, but yeah, I won't be too bummed if there isn't any. And, if I had to choose between new music and Axl's tell-all autobiography, I'm not sure which one it would be; probably I'd go for the book This pretty much sums up how I feel as well. Over the last few years, I just felt so bad for Axl and it had nothing to do with being a fan of the band, it was just being a human being. He was becoming the punchline to a lot of jokes, the press was never going to forgive him for his past and he seemed to still be struggling when there were stories of biting security guards and punching paparazzi. To see him this year was like watching the underdog win. I thought the moment in Houston when the piano broke was the best moment of the tour. And to see him take on the Axl/DC tour. - not an easy thing to do for anyone -- was the cherry on top. I'm 50/50 about what they do next. I'd love a new album and see them tour every few years, but then I wonder that if the album isn't well received or the venues they play get smaller, we won't see happy mature Axl anymore. So, if this is the end and it's a happy ending, then that's OK too. Kind of like when an athlete retires after winning the Super Bowl. And Blackstar, I really really want Axl's book too!!

Yeah. It's really weird when people discuss what the band should do for the fans and how the business should be run, and then comparing GnR to other bands. GnR is possibly one of the most dysfunctional bands to exist, and they always have been! They aren't some sort of franchise that must cater towards the fans. I would love to hear new music as much as the next Guns fan... but the music should mean something to them. TSI aside, GnR haven't been ones to churn out albums every 2-4 years just to keep people happy. 5 hours ago, giuls said: Slash was too passive-aggressive towards DJ to be entirely about business Oh wait! Not too long ago Slash liked a Tweet by someone making fun of a guy with a "DJ Ashba is GNR" type tattoo. I don't remember the exact words and context, but Slash liking it very much gave off a "Bitch, this is my band and my singer." And there's been some other stuff too, like the slightly rude Slash quote mentioned above and Slash liking these Axl-related tweets, etc.

The pictures don't really do them justice, they're bigger than you think and much more colourful and detailed. I love mine. I don't think I'll ever take them out of their boxes though. Are you in the UK? I got mine from Forbidden Planet for £9.99 each and free delivery. They came in the original shipping box too, which says Guns N' Roses on it and Slash. So my box must have been a shipment of Slash's. I'm such a GnR nerd that I'll keep that too
