Tried to watch Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and it was fucking awful. Was Kevin Smith ever any good or am I just imagining it?

His daughter is pretty hot however.

Also Silent Bob clearly has AIDS.

My gawd, it is awful, isn't it?

Although not a big fan of the View Askew stuff, I did used to like Clerks and Smith's brand of wit (e.g., the contract workers on the Death Star being murdered by the Rebel Alliance) but this is about as funny as a punch in the face. Knocked it off after 30mins. It is rare I find a film literally unwatchable. I usually sit through all sorts of shite.

Zombieland Double Tap. Not as good as the first but still good.

Into the Tall Grass. Weird af and they didn't explain anything at the end. But it was weird and tense enough to keep me interested so there's that.

Den of Thieves. Thumbs up.

Got Zombieland on dvd yesterday. Have to find time to watch it. Loved the first one. So funny and gross too.

Motherless Brooklyn- turned it off after after 40 minutes. Not that it wasnt good, just wasnt into it.

that movie was alright. I don't know why, but I expected more. Always feels like Norton's potential as an actor is greater than the quality of most of his work but at least this one was pretty good. Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel were way better imo but it's still a step in the right direction.

jay and Silent Bob reboot (2019)

I quite liked it, enough of the silly charm of the first one along with a bit of self aware piss-taking, its not Citizen Kane and isn't trying to be

Blood on the Sun (1948) Robert Mitchum, a really tightly written noir-ish western, really dark, like literally dark, chiaroscuro lighting, well written and well acted.

Many years ago. I actually do not think Smith is that talented a filmmaker. He basically peaked with his debut, Clerks, and then it went tits up. Bit like GN'R really.

He's alright, not all that but you sort of take things for what they are worth.  Clerks was good, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, I liked all of these...Clerks II was alright too.  Bit wank after that.  Zack and Miri Make a Porno was alright, watchable at least, the rest was fuckin' dire.  Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was good in a ridiculous sort of way and this follows in a similar vein.

I don't expect Kevin Smith to be brilliant but some of his stuffs alright.

Wait...that is the first time you have seen it?!

This wasn't the funny Scary movies. I've seen all of them. This movie was on TCM channel called Scary movie. It was a totally different movie. It was about a guy who was having nightmares and an escaped mental patient who maybe was killing people in a haunted house. It was pretty stupid and dark. lol It took place in a small town in Texas. lol

Anyway, the other Wayans brothers Scary Movies are the best.

Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)

I was simply re-jogging my memory of this less than inspired feature film as a consequence of the new television series Picard debuting, a film whose most memorable claim to fame was that it features a then unknown and youthful Tom Hardy as the villain, Picard's clone. Fairly ropey outing but still vastly superior to Ja Ja Abrams' abominations.

Reunion at Fairborough (1985)  Made for TV movie with Robert Mitchum, Deborah Kerr and Red Buttons.  Mitch' and Kerr kinda carry the piece, about a wartime romance between a yank and an English girl and they meet up like 40 years after during a reunion.  Weird seeing Mitchum in England, he almost seems too big for it.

He did a remake of The Big Sleep here - transplanted in England - directed by Winner and starring Joan Collins.
