@money honey That was a lovely review. You have a talent for writing. I could relate to the feeling of "OMG they're real!!!" and I'm glad to hear the CD songs are great live. I'm a bit annoyed with the CD songs they're playing (can't stand TIL and CD), so this gives me hope that I might like them after all lol.

The last time I heard Axl sing CD songs it was a great experience, because we were standing at the front rail and kept singing along to them despite the fact that the album hadn't been released yet (and wouldn't be released for another 2 years). Axl kept looking over at us with this "You brats illegally downloaded my songs"-look, it was hilarious. But back then he sang Madagascar and Street of Dreams, 2 songs that I actually love, and not fucking TIL and CD

They tried to put me in girls collectives, but it always ended up like pushing square peg through round hole. Everyone suffered. I don't see what fitting in has to do with this, but for the record, I was never one of these "popular cheer leader" type girls either (if I were I probably wouldn't be wasting my time on this board lol). And I've met plenty of misogynist men. Hasn't every woman? There are more than enough awful assholes out there. Which is exactly why women should stick together instead of tearing each other down. And why it's so sad to see that you think of women as inherently vapid, superficial, sickly sweet, poisonous and backstabbing. Granted, there are some real bitches out there, but for every awful woman there's at least one awful man (or more than one...). It doesn't come down to gender, it comes down to people being people. Some are good and some are better avoided.

Also thank you to everyone for supporting me on this little rant lol. I'm usually not very confrontational, but this is a pet peeve of mine and a worrying attitude that keeps popping up in real life a lot as well, so it makes me happy to see so many people sharing my thoughts

Can't believe this thread is a year old now.

Not sure if some of the newer members are even aware of it, but this thread came into existence exactly because women stuck together, helped each other out and built something amazing of their own.

Backstory for those who don't know: Before this thread existed there was an on-going tension between the women of this board and some dudebros and morons in D&N who couldn't bear the thought of vaguely "female" topics being discussed in their very serious and important threads. Every time something came up that they deemed not worthy of discussion (or every time they saw women having and enjoying lively discussions of their own), they reacted with hostility and derision.

Finally, some of us girls had enough and started demanding a space of our own and thus the Women's Thread was born. Originally this thread was started in the D&N section, but it got moved (or should I say banished) rather quickly to the Jungle, because some people probably couldn't bear their precious D&N section being tainted with girl cooties or something

Well, the joke's on them, because today the Jungle section, which was basically dead until the Women's Thread was created, is probably the liveliest and most interesting section of the board, thanks to its various, mainly female-dominated threads. 

So yeah, ladies (and a handful of guys), old and new, we did good. Cheers!

I loved the backstory of the Women's Thread.............. can't believe how things developed and rolled on after that little feud I had with one of the oldest dudebros of the D&N section

And here we are... one year later... some things haven't changed but others have become amazing and when I thought I didn't need to make more GN'R fans friends from places too far away from my own, here I am, talking on a daily basis to all of you europeans, asians, americans, southamericans and what not.

Also, pretty funny that we have a mysogynist of our own kind in the thread. Probably we have more than her but they've not rised up their heads yet. This thread is a constant learning about people and their behaviors. About women, about the things we still have to fix in order to be better.

Crazy shit, man.. I don't wanna get sentimental because FUCK IT! It's only 4pm here and I'm so busy and somewhere in Europe there's a bunch of people ready to rock while I'm typying my ass off, working and trying to live this crazy life.

Loved the way you told the story of this thread - you never disappoint, oh princess of this thread Man, can't believe we are still around after a year. And what an amazing year of amazing discussions and amazing people and amazing gifs and amazing Slaxl. Women's Thread is our pride and joy, ain't it? We all made a beautiful place here. Will always remember those first days, with 40ºC outside and me doing my final paper for uni and procrastinating here  We were only a few people at the beginning but we sure made this an empire  Thanks @Carlycosmos for creating this place and come back to us, girl!!

Thanks for this background information @Lumikki. As much as I would have liked those very important dudebros getting confronted with our lively thread on a daily basis inside D+N, I love the fact that we're rocking the Jungle. It sounds so much cooler, anyway.

I remember when I found this thread and started as an anonymous reader back in summer of 2016, not even being registered to this board. A laughed my head off, screaming out loud to some conversations, comments and gifs! I learned stuff about the band that I never heard of before and might or might not have sighed and batted my eyelashes at one or two pics of some certain band members.  

I love the humour here, the seriousness, the obnoxiousness and the fact that I talk to you guys from all over the world, sharing opinions, life experience and also dissagrements. I also love the fact how we handle most dissagrements here and support each other in arguments if felt necessary.

So thanks @Carlycosmos (even though you don't know me) for opening the first thread and thanks to all of you for my daily dose of fun and games.

More background info for the more new-ish people:

@killuridols isn't exaggerating. In the earlier days of the thread there really were people who for some reason felt incredibly offended by this thread's mere existence (a serious case of "can't let the womenz have anything of their own that we can't have" probably as someone once called it) and kept demanding for it to be deleted or locked. We also had people who randomly popped into this thread to insult everyone posting here. I'm glad these days seem to be over.

I like nearly all of you here, so you're all special imo (lol what a lame line ), but apart from the founders and queens and princesses of this thread that have already been mentioned, like @Carlycosmos, @Lumikki, @killuridols, @dgnr etc. I also want to give a shout-out to @Andy14 and @MillionsOfSpiders because they've been here since the start as well and haven't been mentioned yet, and they're both as smart as they're hilarious and keep me and everyone else here amused with their witty comments, gifs, etc.

And also to @Blackstar because she's clearly a genius and what would we do without her research skills, handy quotes/interviews and intelligent posts. And she's nice and patient as well on top of that lol.

And to the newer posters here I like to get into arguments with like @Tori72 and @Kris_1989 and @BorderlineCrazy I love you too 

Also to the people who used to be here a lot but aren't anymore (or are only here sporadically), like @nonok, @tiutso, @stella and @giuls - you're all missed.

And it was so exciting because this happened when the band were joining and there was a looot to discuss, a lot to investigate, speculate, everything!!

Do you realize you're proving @Lumikkis point about internalized misogyny here? Like, that's the definition of it. Even I can see that.

 

 

Yep. I asked no one to make me like this. Some of us are androgynous, some of us have "male" brains in female body or reverse, it`s natural human variability. Being weirdo myself, it makes me better stick with ones who don`t fit into certain boxes. 

As I never fit good or completely to any of these worlds, I just don`t get this girls against boys thing. On the other side, I see both from outside. Boys` bullshit, girls` bullshit. 

@Lumikki Women hurt me more and were more systematic than men ever, men are usually protective towards me (and I am protective towards them). If I look back, my biggest bully was a woman (adult, in work) who (among many other useful skills) taught me to stay consistent, which is good skill if you dive to the internet forums. You have not seen me or have normal human face to face conversation with me. I will stick with you if I feel comfortable with you (and you with me). You can be violet-starry hermaphroditic alien and it does not matter then. I stick with people and their personalities, not with race or gender or shoe size or whatever.

So: Alja`s (unasked & unwanted) advice how to get criticism and maintain mostly happy in life - and a better person: (dedicated to my bully) Always think about who`s opinions you let touch you. Anonymous Internet forums people are definitely not that kind. People who want to diss you because you don`t fit in boxes of how world should go round or they plainly hate you (or/and all the world and themselves) are another. Get best ones in the field. Best people want you to overcome them and will help you. Get people who are wisely uncertain, but coherent about things, because that means they think a lot about them and try to get as much points of view as possible. Get people you feel comfortable with. Or people who are experienced in the field and saw that many times before. People who try to figure out why do you think or do things certain way. 

 

I found this thread and all GNR forum accidentally. I like it, it has its really bright or/and funny moments (on the other side, I don`t get all these debates about suite of people around GNR, but I don`t get this social column things also in normal life, so I scroll it through. Yes, I almost can`t gossip and small talks are my major energy sucker. Definitely not something which makes you a part of girl squad.). Also to mention, this is by me best thread for Axl`s epic butt in whole universe. Which is pretty girly thing and a good thing to stick around.

I miss some guys insights on more "serious" topics, like "psychology", but I also understand their Lycra-pants discomfort.

I take discussion as a way to get how people think or get another point of view and adapt something for me, if it works. Not to end up all with one single "right" opinion on things. I like to find out other possible points of view just for fun, it does not necessarily need to be my working point of view in individual situation. That`s it - you have to know someone in person.
