Haha... typically Germany. There's a saying in my country when it comes down to football that says that Germany always scores the winning goal in the last minute... unbelievable.

One team wanted to win. The other just didn't want to lose. Why managers keep making this stupid idiot mistake time and time again? Once Germany became a 10 men team. It was the perfect opportunity to finish the deal for Sweeden. They didn't. And they paid the price. If Germany always scores a goal in the last minute. It is because their opponent allow them to do it.

Germany played the last 10 minutes or so with 2 defenders, only 1 of of them was a center-half. If Sweden deserved anything from the game, then they'd have used common sense and attacked even once in the closing stages.

Anyway, Mexico will probably end up in England's side of the draw as potential Quarter Final opponents for England (assuming they make it that far and England are smart enough to finish 2nd in this group to avoid most of the big teams). Germany however assuming there isn't a hick-up on the last day have a date with Brazil in the last 16. It's much more compelling.

I really hope there's no sugar coating it for England today by the media (who are convinced England are going to win the World Cup again) against Panama. It not going to mean much if England put 6 past them, considering how weak they are... however if England were to even draw against Panama that's probably worse than losing to Iceland 2 years ago. Really weak team.

Agree. At this point, just wanna see a rematch between Brasil and Germany!

I want at least one South American grudge match. One thing is losing to Croatia another is a Uruguay Brazil QF.

Hopefully England avoid Germany because it looks like it would be 6-7. Although they have struggled to score when the floodgates open...,

This is actually perfect, if England score 2 more and top the group on goal difference assuming they draw with the Belgium reserves in the 3rd game or even win, they'll get a much, much harder path forward. England ganked in the Quarters Finals, going to be hillarious. Best chance of reaching the Semi's is probably let Panama score or throw the Belgium game. Then again maybe there'll be a surprise result in the other groups, but it looks like most of the top sides are ending up in one side of the draw including the winners of this group.

Yeah, it is not fair. On the other hand, many people like the idea that every continent is represented, even if it means the quality varies.

England finished bottom of their group at the last world cup, which included Italy who also didn't get through. The group was topped by Costa Rica ahead of Uruguay.

No team has a divine right, if they can't perform.

France and Sweden finished ahead of Holland in qualification and Spain ahead of Italy. Italy then went to a play off with Sweden, which they lost.

Tough groups. Not sure England had any rivals of that calibre.

An alternative could be to take the X best teams based on FIFA ranking. But again, people like the geographic diversity, and for FIFA it is important to have every continent represented, it helps foster interest in football across the world.

Meanwhile, teams like Italy and Holland are sitting at home.

We have no business at the World Cup with this generation of players, it would have ended the same way as the European Cup in Poland/Ukraine a few years ago.

It sucks, but you can't have a golden generation every time.

How else are they going to get bribes.
