[RUMOR] Is Dj Ashba Coming Back This Next Summer?

Recommended Posts

As discussed in the social media thread, the clues are hiding in plain sight.

There is too much evidence to not talk about it right now.

How would you react to such news? Would you support this decision?

  • Silent Jay changed the title to [RUMOR] Is Dj Ashba coming back this Next Summer?

Most likely scenario, he's drumming up hype for his next project, whether it's music or #swag, by getting the GNR fanbase to really push his "hints" into the rumor bin and create hype for something that may or may not happen

Another scenario is the Chinese Democracy follow-up is proceeding, and he's going to the studio to finish up his contributions to it.

Fortus: "On 'Chinese Democracy', I was adding to ideas that were already there. That entire record was written when I joined the band 13 years ago. Except I wrote the chorus to 'Better'. A lot of the new stuff [that ended up on that album] that [we were] working on, some of that stuff [are ideas that came] from nothing and some of the stuff is stuff that [we had] been working on that were ideas that were already there. Some of the stuff Slash did that was the beginning of the seed of the song that's been around for a while."

On the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to "Chinese Democracy":

Fortus: "DJ [Ashba, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist] and I have worked on stuff… Nobody's worked on stuff with Ron ['Bumblefoot' Thal, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist].

"There's so much stuff that's recorded, there's so much stuff that was done. I mean, there's three albums' worth of material, easy…

"I know this week he's [GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose] recording a lot of stuff, vocally.

"That camp is very… I don't know why. It's just that they're very… Axl is very secretive. He doesn't want stuff getting out. He wants to create stuff and then release it when it's ready. Which I… I get it. He's also a bit of a perfectionist, as you can imagine.

"The way [Axl] generally works is that he doesn't wanna take an idea that DJ sent and… What he'll do is he'll take a little piece that I sent, he'll take a little piece that DJ sent on another track, and he's always done that. Back even with the 'Appetite [For Destruction]' stuff, he would take a little bit from this, a little bit from that, and then put it together. And when you listen to it, you can sort of hear it. When you listen to the tracks, you can hear that it's… Especially on 'Illusions' [the 'Use Your Illusion' albums], the opuses, [where] he took little bits from different people and put them together. He's got a real talent for that."

Richard FORTUS, 2014.

I think he's hyping himself up a bit here.  He could be embarking on anything.  However, I wouldn't put it past Axl to do something with Ashba, like sing on his solo album.  He did, after all, invite Ashba to stay on for the NITL tour (apparently) so he clearly likes the guy. <_<  I don't care if Axl collaborates with him so long as it doesn't affect GNR duties.  Ashba hasn't a hope in hell of getting into GNR again.  Not a hope in hell.  Slash ain't going anywhere.

People is talking about this for a while in other forums, apparently someone connected to insiders said Slash want a raise and it is causing conflicts on Axl camp.

Not that I believe on these "insiders" but I wouldnt be surprised if it happens.
And if it means new music from Axl, I'd be cool with that. (Music from Axl, fuck Axl/DC).

It's about time these corporate sell-outs (Axl, Slash, Duff) really piss off their fanbase! That would be refreshing. There's fucking Gn'R net casino games and Gn'R Funko Pops! Dj being back in the band or doing something with Axl isn't nearly as bad as whoring your bandname and putting it on every goddamn product available. And Dj is also a corporate sellout, so he would fit right in!

Even if Axl truly wanted to play with DJ again in the Guns N' Roses context, it is not going to happen. The band has made too much money with the current lineup, and the public now expects Slash and Duff as the norm. the 2001-2014 lineups only got the acceptance they did because many people (begrudgingly) felt it was the only way to see Axl sing the songs. Slash coming back in the fold seemed like a literal impossibility. Fans have become acclimated to seeing Slash again, and if DJ took his place, the band would be playing county fairs and tiny clubs. I can guarandamntee you that Slash would never share a stage with DJ Ashba, for anyone who thinks that might be a possibility.

Ignoring the fact that DJ was the worst musician to ever be in the band, he made his decision to take Sixx A.M. over Guns N' Roses. He made the wrong choice, as Sixx seems to have abandoned that band. Maybe a GN'R cover band needs a new guitarist...

1 hour ago, soon said:

I remember someone tracked the plane and it wasnt even going to LA!  But it was going to somewhere in CA which is also where Monster HQ is.  Apparently DJ Ashba feels that being paid to wear a t shirt is 'Conquering the world'

Schecter Guitars is also in CA.  I think the pic  is him visiting their offices.  So, with SixxAM gone, and renewed/ongoing endorsements, one has to think he has something tangible he can show them (a contract?) to have them interested in him?  Maybe he did the rounds before heading to see Axl in LA proper?

If Axl collaborates with him we'd have to kidnap DJ, store him in a canister and throw it in the ocean.

Dj is sponsored by Monster and Schachter, who make his custom guitars. I don't think it means anything that he advertises himself and his sponsors using pictures of the highest-profile gig of his career.  This is a big ol' nothing.

OP: When you said "rumor," was it something you'd actually heard, or just your own speculation?

I know he's sponsored by them - thats what i was talking about.  I used the word endorsement.  But to maintain all the endorsements would be hard to conceive of if he currently has no band or record contract.  He has to be relevant to be paid to wear shirts, thats my line of thinking in that post at least.
