Sosso
John Mahoney, 77, died Sunday in hospice care in Chicago, TMZ reportedMonday evening, citing his publicist. The British-born actor was best known for his 11 years on “Frasier,” playing the father of Kelsey Grammer’s fussy lead character. He was nominated for two Emmys and two Golden Globes and won a Screen Actors Guild prize for the role of Martin Crane, the “simpler” more down-to-earth forebear of Frasier and Niles Crane (David Hyde Pierce). Sosso
Words cannot express my sadness about this. Mahoney was one of my favourite actors on television and he was brillant as Martin Crane in Frasier and in Cheers. downzy
I'm kind of shocked he was only 77. I always thought he was in his 60s and 70s when Fraser was on the air.
