Popular Post Gambit83
Went in depth on how Slash recruited him to jam before VR. Jammed with both Slash and Duff, so he was considered before they rekindled with Sorum for Velvet...but he had no clue until Slash's book came out. Funny untold Gilby story. Good Crowes/Guns convo. Hope you enjoy. Joining Brando as special co-host for episode 49 is Sir Kev from Ireland. Kev shared his GNR story on Ep. 27 as our first “fan obsession” interview. Kev and Brando first discuss the chat with Alan Niven from the last episode, which has since gone viral with the news of Izzy Stradlin showing up at a GNR sound check during the Not In This Lifetime tour. After “Shotgun News,” the boys are joined by legendary drummer, Steve Gorman. Most famously from the Black Crowes, now currently with Trigger Hippy and a radio host for Fox Sports. Steve takes us through his journey into radio and how the Black Crowes came to be. Most interesting for GNR fans, we learn about Steve’s time with Slash, and how their “band” would go on to be Velvet Revolver. Steve also gets candid on his thoughts on a possible Crowes reunion, feelings on GNR, and his upcoming book! 4 1

RussTCB
Thanks for asking my question about The Magpie Salute! Bummed to hear he won't be involved but I get it and at least I know now.

soon
He seems like a really great person. Between he and Brain balancing being present for their young families with rock stardom one wonders if theres a correlation between awesome drumming and having healthy priorities. Sounds to me like had he been more assertive in that lunch with Slash that things, possibly, may have been different. But his lack of drive to make the thing with Slash go forward and the mention of not thinking it ideal to work with Weiland, leaves me wondering if Slash's substance intake during there time together left Gorman hesitant? But bluesier Slash riffs, Gorman + Izzys writing... oh what could have been 1
sabian11
Steve is by far one of my favorite drummers one hell of a nice guy too!
Guitar Stu
That was a great interview. Really enjoyed it. I am a big fan of the Black Crowes from their first 10 years and always loved Steve Gorman's drumming. Didn't realize he was such a good speaker. The stuff with Steve and his interactions with Slash and Gilby and Duff were gold. And I have never really dug into the band drama in The Black Crowes. I knew there was issues between the Robinson Brothers but didn't realize it was at the level it is. I wanna give some props to Brando. It might just be the slight culture difference (I am Aussie) but I struggled warming to your radio persona if that's the right word (and don't take that as an insult, we all have individual preference's) but you have done a great job with the interviews. Your guests really seem to open up and come off relaxed and provide some great stories. Not the same old stuff you get with normal interviews. And the variety of guests has been fantastic. I don't post much here but wanted to let you know I am a fan of your show. Cheers
J Dog
Good stuff. I'm a huge Crowes fan. Would've easily taken him over Sorum in VR.

He has a gift for storytelling. Edited March 8, 2018 by Gambit83
