Well I called this in another thread the other day. I said they should add Shadows of Your Love to Live like a Suicide which they did and it was a great move.. Then I said they would probably counter that with the shitty move of removing One In A Million.. That is exactly what they did.. How does everyone feel about that? One In A Million is probably in my top 5 Gn'R songs of all time and this kind of bums me out. Take the racial slurs out and there are still some very powerful lyrics in that song. Take the lyrics out all together and the guitars are a perfect mesh of clean and dirty with an amazing solo. Slash and Izzy at their finest.. Go out and buy your copies of LIES now because that will surely be phased out now. Good or bad, that song song made a statement. If Axl stands by his defense of the lyrics, there really shouldn't be an issue.. Just another case of people trying to erase history in this overly political correct world. Unless it is a rap song with racial lyrics about white people.. That is ok... I'd hate to drive the streets with the lyrics 'immigrants and f**, they make no sense to me' blasting out of the window. I can see why it's omitted. the lyrics pissed off Slash to not a small degree, with his immigrant background. A crack in the friendship probably started there and then. as for the song itself, it's a bit flat. there is not much variation the whole song through. Don't see the appeal myself. On Spotify it actually is the most popular song from Lies after (obviously) Patience and Used To Love Her. I think we'll never see a Lies reissue or whatever just because of the song though. In this day and age it’s more trouble than it’s worth to include it on a new release but it’s not like GN’R Lies isn’t readily available. More likely his half black background caused him to have somewhat of an issue with the "n-word" being used in the song, in a non-flattering context. It's to the band's credit that they want to forget about it. I have the original vinyl pressing with the original cover art (Wife beating has been around for 10000 years....ladies welcome to the dark ages!) I have the non-US CDs which actually have the tits uncensored, cause god forbid Americans see a pair of titties. That shit was already censored in 1988. They only played the song live TWICE. Ever. It's never coming back. It's already been erased as far as the band or the world at large is concerned. But we still have it if we want it, so just enjoy it. I even saw the LIES shirt for sale recently and they fucking censored the word MIDGET. We live in a world of PC gone mad. Everyone is offended by everything.
