Fashionista
If I had to make a best of list across all races, I'd say, in no particular order: Scarface Goodfellas Godfather I & II New Jack City Angels with Dirty Faces Manhattan Melodrama SuperFly Carlito's Way Donnie Brasco would rank as essential viewing IMO.

Ace Nova
Mobsters. Probably one of the most underrated and less known solid, classic (Italian Mob) films out there. Based on the real life events of the Italian Maffia/La Cosa Nostra...and how they came to power in the early 1900's. My buddies and I used to watch it every weekend during my college years...memorized about 80% of the movie....some great lines in there... Len Cnut
Outside of the mafia thing King of New York, to my mind, is cinematic perfection.

dontdamnmeuyi2015
Any gangster movie with the late Great James Cagney. He always played an awesome gangster as well as an amazing song and dance man. The man could do it all! 10 hours ago, F*ck Fear said: My favorites mirror other comment here. Casino, Goodfellas, The Godfather, Scarface, The Sopranos are all great. DieselDaisy
British Long Good Friday Aforementioned Get Carter Legend (probably the best Krays film) I'm not much of a fan of Guy Ritchie films but he would be a port of call I suppose. 1 hour ago, Len Cnut said: Violent Cop, is that the one where the Jap copper slaps the fuck out of that geezer in the cop shop? Fashionista
I think New Jack City is really underrated, and King of New York is really overrated. The latter, I just never understood and it was not for lack of trying since I love Christopher Walken. New Jack City is especially cool if you just look at it as a picture of gritty NYC of the late 80s/early 90s....a place that might as well be a different world from the post-Giuliani Disney world it is now. Georgy Zhukov
There's an 80's Italian film called Il Camorrista (The Professor) about a ruthless crimelord in Italy. Those real Italian gangsters don't fuck around.

There was one guy, I forget his name, he couldn't get to a rival Boss, so he murdered the rival's entire family, wife, kids and everything until the guy stepped down. The real Italian Mafia is as brutal, if not moreso, than any Cartel, and they pretty much control the governments in Italy and Sicily even now. dontdamnmeuyi2015
When my grandfather was a kid he was attending a family wedding in the 1930's and Al Capone came in and just gave them a booster (wedding money gift) and left. lol I loved hearing that story. I think some cousins in my poppy's family were connected in some small way. One of my grandma's nephew through marriage disappeared one day and no one knew what happened? He once took a rap for another guy, but I guess he's luck ran out.
