GUNS N' ROSES

April 9th 1992

Rosemont Horizon, Rosemont, IL

Lineage: Pro Shot Screen Feed > unknown [low] generation TDK E-180HG PAL VHS [limulus] > Panasonic NV-HV61 > Monster Stereo Audio 400i > NAD PP3i > ProCab CLA631/5 > Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 > Audacity > dED > dEQ > WAV > FLAC

Notes: Fresh high quality lossless transfer of a very low generation VHS copy (provided by Limulus). This is one of 2 April '92 shows that surfaced on VHS back in the day (the other is Oklahoma on April 6th), professionally filmed to be used on the screens at the side of the stage. They were supposedly stolen from GNR's video crew. This show is unfortunately incomplete, the last song 'Paradise City' cuts out after about a minute. I've patched in the missing bit from the complete audience recording, for people who would like to have this show in full. I left 'Paradise City' as two seperate tracks that have a seamless transition, so if you only want the soundboard audio, you can skip the last two tracks. There's several quality DVD transfers of this show, but to my knowledge they all have lossy audio.
Transfers of the SBD audio off VHS tapes of this show have done the rounds before, but this one sounds, well, better ... Enjoy one of the longest shows on the UYI tour (look at that setlist !), just over 3 hours, when GNR was still GNR !

Tracks:

1. Intro
2. Nightrain
3. Mr. Brownstone
4. Live And Let Die
5. Attitude
6. It's So Easy
7. Wild Horses [Intro]
8. Patience
9. Double Talkin' Jive
10. Civil War
11. Welcome To The Jungle
12. Piano Solo
13. November Rain
14. You Could Be Mine
15. Band Introductions
16. Drum Solo
17. Guitar Solo
18. Godfather Theme
19. Coma
20. Don't Cry [w/ Shannon Hoon]
21. Bad Obsession
22. Sail Away Sweet Sister / Bad Time [Intro]
23. Sweet Child O' Mine
24. Only Women Bleed [Intro]
25. Knockin' On Heaven's Door
26. So Fine
27. Move To The City
28. Estranged
29. Mother [Intro]
30. Paradise City [cut]
31. Paradise City [cntd.] *

Lineage: unknown mic > unknown recorder > 3rd generation cassette > CDR > EAC > WAV > Audacity > dED > dEQ [speed-corrected] > FLAC

Notes: Fresh transfer of the only complete (audience) recording of this show. It sounds better than what was circulating before, and it runs at the correct speed for the first time. Skip this one if you're after the best sounding version of this show (that would be the SBD audio), but if you're a completist who wants everything, this offers an interesting alternative perspective on a legendary 3-hour UYI Tour show. It's still an average audience recording, but it has never sounded better ! If you want your prime GNR with actual GNR band members, and NO songs from Axl's solo album or 25 other pointless covers, THIS IS IT !!!

Well, not the best quality for the SBD source. The audience source is good, although it has a lot of crowd noise in some songs.

They are both better audio quality than what's circulating.  Lossless audio that is.  Some dvd's might have a lower gen and better sound, but they are all lossy.

Anyway, how is the video quality for that tape? I guess it's worse than what we have and that's why it hasn't been shared, but who knows

I've had this tape for 15 years, Limulus even has a gen lower, so yeah, you guessed right.  John M. 2DVDR is still the way to go.

Can you please share your better sounding lossless vhs audio rip ?

Well, with "what we have" I meant JohnM and the other versions, I don't have a tape. For me the best sounding one is the Unknown version (authored as slipknot on tpb) until Don't cry and JohnM from Don't cry onwards, but yes, both are lossy.
