Towelie
He was a pretty mean pianist back in the UYI days... what happened? He sounds fairly rudimentary these days and hasn't really displayed any impressive chops since the UYI tour ended. I always found it odd that he doesn't play Estranged and This I Love himself. Has he lost his piano chops?
Popular Post -W.A.R-
The only chops he hasn't lost is pork. ....I'll see myself out. 2 1 25
Silverburst80
I doubt it man, but the shows fucking long enough without him pissing around on the piano for 20 minutes. Edited May 24, 2018 by Silverburst80
Tom2112
I noticed that he tends to push the beat a lot more these days when he plays NR, I think he is probably as good as he ever was though! He was never a great player, although he has come up with some great piano parts. I like his playing though and I'm sure if he played a bit more within the set he'd be a beast within no time!

scooby845
I don't know if anyone noticed, but he changed the arrangement for the NR intro... I don't like it very much. It's so raw and does not have a flow.
Dean
I always enjoyed his playing. It works out better I think having Dizzy playing This I Love and Estranged, the more Axl is commanding the stage, the better, in my opinion.
AncientEvil80
Old age is a bitch. Brain and fingers simply don't work the same way as in your 20's... In any case, Axl's talent surely NEVER was on a pianoforte.
gnfnrs1972
Its hard to play with all those bracelets clinking around. 1
Tom-Ass
The Piano in November Rain has lost something due to the faster tempo but not sure if it has anything to do with his chops..

He has to concentrate really hard on his Mickey voice so the piano playing suffers.
downzy
I doubt it. It doesn't take much to get whatever chops one use to have to come back. It's muscle memory. I've been told that Axl plays piano at home a lot, so I don't think it's a matter of him losing his proficiency. Likely just a choice with respect to the setlist.
Nicklord
I know for a fact that Axl was playing a grand piano in a hotel on and off for hours when he was in Serbia for Exit festival in 2012. That's probably the only thing he practices these days tho
NovemberPain
I think it's laziness. He could easily play Estranged and TIL in piano. He also made November Rain's piano simpler in the recent years. It doesn't sound right. Add to that Frank's awful drums and the whole song sped up and mickey vocals.

Has he lost his piano chops? Everything about Axl turned to shit. He is a totally different person in every sense of the word. Those intros to NR used to be very good. Bitchisback
Axl probably doesn't want to be stuck behind a piano for 40 minutes a night. He likes to walk around and sing, and they already have 2 keyboard players. He probably sticks with November Rain because that is his biggest moment of the show. That song his his baby don't forget.
